Hurricane Helene
We didn't get to stay because of the Hurricane. VRBO has been a nightmare to deal with trying to get a refund. There was a mandatory evacuation, so we didn't ever check in. The location is great and I wish we could've stayed. Unfortunately, the storm happened and I won't ever use VRBO. The WORST customer service.
There is an extenuating circumstances policy on their website and mandatory evacuation is on there for refunds, regardless of buying insurance.
Sorry to the owner of the house, but I would go through a different rental company.

Great Home!
This log cabin getaway is beautiful! It's a little hike to get up the hill, but that's what makes it a mountain cabin! It's very private, with lots of steps...great workout! We did not have 4 wheel drive and we made it up just fine. The kitchen and living room are both amazing with plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen is fully loaded with top of the line appliances. Nice Master bedroom. The bed was too firm for us, but some people prefer that. The two upstairs beds were comfortable. The wrap around porch was nice. The cabin was clean and felt welcoming. The downstairs lighting is a little dim, with lightbulbs needing to be changed and it's a little cool so bring extra blankets if any kids plan on sleeping in the bunk beds. It's a great area for Teens to hang out, they will love playing pool! Showers/bathrooms were very clean. We had a wonderful memorable stay. Vacasa is very helpful in any problems you come across, we only book with Vacasa!
We are had some problems with this rental. I contacted the Vacasa agency multiple times now with no response. There is trash on the porch still from a previous stay, I believe a racoon got into. It smelled the whole time. There was a dirty diaper on the porch which we were not touching. The driveway is very dangerous. It has multiple pot holes making it very difficult to get up to the top. Nowhere on the description does it mention only 4 parking spaces. I did not know this until one of the recent emails. The pictures on VRBO are not quite what's represented. It says there is a jetted tub but it does not work. There are 3 TVs, two of which do not work and the remotes are filthy dirty. There are lots of Carpenter ants throughout the house. The landscape is very overgrown. The VRBO listing says there is a view, but from what we can see. The trees are very overgrown. Not to mention the neighbors below us were not happy with this house being a rental because people have to back up in their driveway to get up this hill. They tried to block their driveway with their own cars. We felt bad for those neighbors.

The house is very comfortable. Generally top of the line appliances but it has some disappointing shortcomings.
1. The kitchen is missing important accessories. No saucepans at all. No large bowls (for a salad for instance) etc. we suggest having a woman check it out and spend a couple of hundred dollars properly equipping it.
2. This house is right at the top of the mountain so we expected a spectacular view. However the trees, 100 feet deep, grow right next to the house and obscure all views. They also eliminate virtually all sunlight. So no views and no sunlight and the house is poorly lit anyway making things pretty gloomy on the inside.
3. There is a great wrap around deck. No views of course but also only two plastic chairs one of which was broken. Again - spend a few bucks and get some comfortable deck furniture. Trim the trees and voila!!
4. The TVs are 1990 vintage - either cathode ray tubes or projection all with multiple controllers. We gave up trying to get them to work.
5. The drive way is seriously overgrown, very steep and definitely room at the top for only three (not four) cars.
So in summary - a very nice and comfortable home that needs a few relatively inexpensive additions / maintenance. I wouldn’t rent it again as is but I would do so if these issues were addressed.
