Great location, excellent communication with the host company! The driveway is rather steep and the mattresses are so firm that a good night sleep is hard to come by. If you like a firm mattress, you're set!

New Year’s trip

Great Cabin for family getaway! Driveway intense, after the first day we parked at bottom of the property and walked up to door.

Thunder Bear

The only negative was the steep driveway and parking. Very challenging to park two cars on the driveway

We will NOT be returning to any rental managed by Colonial Properties, especially not Thunder Bear Hideaway. When we arrived, we quickly realized the driveway was way too steep for our truck, let alone the trailer we brought with us. We called the number just before 8:00 PM, and they told us they didn’t have another property available. They asked if we could stay and offered a partial refund for the inconvenience. We agreed and said we would call back in the morning when the owner was in to approve it.The next day, we called back and were told they had no record of our previous call, even though we used the same number. They refused to do anything to help. Then they claimed trailers are not allowed at the property, but that is not stated anywhere in the listing. On top of the poor customer service and lack of communication, the property itself was disappointing. It is much smaller than it looks in the pictures. The “master bedroom” barely has space to walk around the bed, and there is no room for luggage or a child’s sleeping setup. The second bed is not in a private room at all. It is out in the open on the lower level near the pool table and hot tub exit, so there is no privacy.Overall, this was a frustrating experience and very misleading. I would definitely think twice before booking.

Great Stay!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Thunder Bear Cabin. Our stay was very pleasant. The cabin is situated just far away enough from the center of Pigeon Forge that you can’t hear everyday traffic (minus sirens from police and/or Fire/EMS) but close enough that it only took 5-10 minutes to get to The Island for family time. The cabin was spacious for 5 of us (2 adults, 2 teens and 1 8 year old) that we all had enough space for ourselves when needed. The hot tub was great to have after those long days on the town. The staff was helpful when needed (didn’t need them much at all). The only down fall we had was the driveway, it was very steep and if you have more than 1 vehicle it could be challenging for parking but we made do. Also the hot tub does face the road but we were up high enough nobody can really see while in the hot tub. If you have a small family and are going down, I would recommend this cabin!

The checkin process was very easy. The cabin was much smaller than the pictures made it look. The driveway was straight uphill and very difficult to navigate with two vehicles. The hot tub was in the deck that faced the road in plain view and my eight year old autistic son suffered a second degree burn when he fell and his hand touched the hit glass against the fireplace. I wasn't going to complain but I am not very happy with it at all.

Synchronous Firefly weekend

Nice cozy cabin. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. Rooms are somewhat small. The bedrooms have a good-sized bed, but not much room beside the bed. 2-1/2 bathrooms is nice, although the downstairs bathroom had a sporadic leak. The pool table is not really usable since there is only about 2 feet between it and the wall on two sides. Nice balconies with chairs and swing. Relatively quiet although very close to other cabins. Steep driveway, but not really an issue other than a little tight turning around to avoid backing all the way down. We enjoyed the cabin and there were no real problems or complaints, it just didn't "wow" us in any way. Just a standard cabin. Very close to town which was very nice.
