Cozy mountain cabin surrounded by mountains next to the Yellowstone River
Cabin By the River was built in 1995 and rests on the banks of the Yellowstone River, 10.5 miles north of Gardiner, Montana, the only year around entrance to Yellowstone Park. It is situated on about 5 acres in the upper Paradise Valley, south of Yankee Jim Canyon and north of Corwin Springs, Montana. We enjoy a country setting with neighbors across grassy fields.
The cabin is decorated in country cabin decor and will sleep five. There is a queen bed in the main floor bedroom and a queen and a single bed in the sleeping loft. A sofa queen bed in the living room is suitable for small children. The front porch overlooks the river and offers a porch swing, table and chairs and a gas bbq. For rainy days, there are reading materials, games, Dish TV and DVD player with a selection of movies. The small kitchen offers a full size range and refrigerator. Dishes, utensils, coffee maker, crock pot & a brief pantry are provided.
The bathroom is a tub/shower combination. Linens, towels and paper products are provided.
There is a landline telephone for local calls. Wifi service is available but caution that we are in a mountainous area and it is sometimes undependable.
We have a fire ring down along side the river for marsh mellow roasting or just enjoying.
In the grassy area above the cabin there is a swing set, yard games and tether ball, lots of area to run and play. Fishing in the Yellowstone River from our property can be successful and a great experience in a blue ribbon trout stream.
We are only 10 minutes to Gardiner, the north entrance to Yellowstone. Our guests enjoy coming out of the Park in the evening to the quiet setting of the Cabin By the River.

About Wendi Burke
I am a Montana native, 2nd generation (my grandparents homesteaded in northern Montana), and Warren has lived in Montana most of his life having grown up in Northern California. We have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren, some living in the area. Warren is recently retired from the National Park Service and I manage the cabin. We love living in the mountains but also love to travel. We have been providing lodging for visitors for almost 19 years and have loved meeting wonderful people and sharing our corner of the world. We have a dog (Tillie) and a cat (Patch) who also enjoy our guests.
Wendi Burke purchased this Cabin in 1995
Why Wendi Burke chose Gardiner
We built our 'Cabin By The River' in 1995. For 10 years we operated it as a bed and breakfast. We are located in a small valley of the upper Yellowstone River. We have about 5 acres on the Yellowstone River. Our home and the cabin are on this acreage.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love being close to the river and hearing it flow by at night. We are in a country setting with neighbors yet private. Guests enjoy fishing right here and having a fire in the fire ring by the river. The mountain views all around are spectacular. Sitting on the porch in the evening or early morning are beyond description!

Our visit on the River
I wasn't sure how convenient the access would be the Yellowstone entrance. I was pleasantly surprised that the 10 miles to Gardiner was all on 70 mph roads, right out the driveway. That's less than ten minutes. Even though the park is so close, I found myself still just wanting to spend time sitting on the porch and watching the river. Heavenly.
Even though the cabin is close to the Highway, you can't hear it. All you really hear is the river, and the sound was very relaxing.
The cabin is well appointed and comfortable. It's a fairly open design, so plan on adhering to the same sleeping schedule.
As others have mentioned, the Wifi is hardly usable. This would be easily solved with a Wifi range extender. I talked to Warren about this. This can be remedied with a $30 piece of hardware. There is even an extender somewhere on the property (I know because it shows up on available networks) , but it's not any closer to the cabin. Maybe just move it into the cabin? Problem solved.
Thank you for choosing our cabin for your visit to Yellowstone! We appreciate your kind review!
My wife and I were lucky enough to spend 3 nights here and we had an amazing time. The cabin was very comfortable and very clean. The kitchen was stocked with enough things that we were able to cook almost every meal at home.
The river access from the cabin was great and they even had a fire pit for making smores.
The owners were very responsive to all of my questions.
I hope that we can stay here again one day.
Thank you for coming! Hope you can come back sometime!
Relaxing cabin in a beautiful valley
We loved our stay. The cabin made our time in Yellowstone more enjoyable because each day began and ended at our peaceful cabin on the river; it would've been disappointing to have to return to a hotel room after the magic of Yellowstone.
Thank you for choosing us! We hope you come back!
Great location to explore Yellowstone.
Adorable cabin, well appointed, friendly hosts.
A porch swing & the Yellowstone River make for some great evenings after you are tired from hiking in God's beautiful creation.
Wonderful way to start our two-week adventure in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons.
Everything was as promised with the only surprise being warmer than expected hospitality from our host, Warren. We loved coming back to the cabin after spectacular days in the park exploring the north side of YNP. The porch swing, along with sights and sounds of the rushing Yellowstone River were our favorites. Highly recommend!
Clean, cozy, quiet & beautiful place to stay right along Yellow Stone River
We enjoyed staying at the Cabin on the River which is conveniently located just 10 miles from the north entrance of Yellowstone Park. It was nice to retreat to quiet location after busy day of sightseeing at the Park! Cabin has everything you need! Nice set up for grilling & eating meals out on the porch overlooking the Yellowstone River or just sitting on porch swing to enjoy glass of wine & take in the view! We enjoyed meeting owners who very friendly & even introduced us to their horse Jasmine & dog Tillie! Would definitely recommend!
Thank you! Come again soon!
