River cottage with private beach near Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Busch Gardens
About A.C. Traylor
We are a retired couple who love Virginia's history and the "rivah!"
Why A.C. Traylor chose Surry
Our cottage has a beautiful view, a private beach and the James River to play in, but close to Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Busch Gardens and other sites that you came to see. It is like having the best of both worlds.
What makes this Cottage unique
The view is beautiful. Directly across the river is Jamestown Island, the place of the first permanent English settlement in America (1607). This cottage is on land that was given to Pocahontas from her father, Powhatan, when she married John Rolfe. On a clear day, you can see the roller coasters at Busch Gardens. Even if the weather isn't perfect, you can sit on the enclosed porch and watch Eagles and Ospreys fish, or tugboats going by. As one guest said, it was like coming home after a busy day. And, you can always spend a day on the "rivah," swimming, kayaking, or just enjoying it while sitting under a beach umbrella.

Cottage on the James River
Beautiful Cottage fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. Perfect Vacation
Great vacation getaway
This cottage was just as promised...clean, well stocked and gorgeous river view. We even found many pieces of beach glass by the water. The ferry made travel easy. Very private and peaceful and had daily air shows by the eagles. Couldn’t have been better.
Wonderful house. Incredible stay!
We loved staying at the property.
Best vacation stay ever. Top notch amazing g accommodation. AC thought of every little touch inside the house and the scenery just speaks for itself.
Hands down the best experience I have ever had on vacation.
Will 100% coming back. Highly recommend. You will not regret booking this wonderful home.
This was our 2nd stay at Bay View, and it was every bit as enjoyable & memorable as the 1st. Bay View offers spectacular views, privacy, and waterfront activity. The cottage is immaculate, well equipped, and Linda and A.C. are exceptional hosts! They are unsurpassed in responsiveness & generosity. Phenomenal experience.
Perfect little getaway river cottage
We had such a wonderful and relaxing experience! The location is perfect for getting to Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown to explore the history of our nation. It is also nestled in a quiet relaxing location on the river. Perfect for families or just old friends wanting to catch up over a glass of wine or cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the river. Perfect nature getaway with so many different locations to explore. The cottage was very nicely decorated and clean. A.C. and Linda have taken great care of the property and have put in some much thought about comfortable and practical accommodations. Every time we thought we might need something we ended up finding it available for use or stocked already. They really have thought of everything to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. We would highly recommend this location!
A slice of heaven
Wonderful place for a family holiday. Beautiful view over the James River. Convenient free car ferry to Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown only 5 mins away. Property is very clean and well appointed. Hosts left sweet touches throughout the home. We loved the kayaks and watching the bald eagles from the deck and fully screened AC porch. We’ll be back! Thank you AC & Linda
Our cottage is on a bluff on the James River, with steps down to a private beach. It is directly across the river from Jamestown, and Williamsburg is straight down the road. Busch Gardens and Water Country are less than 10 miles from the ferry dock.
The ferry dock on this side is 1 mile from the cottage. The ferry is part of the Virginia Department of Transportation and runs 24 hours a day.
The cottage is on land given to Pocahontas and John Rolfe as a wedding gift from her father, Powhatan.
