A wonderful home for a once in a lifetime trip!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot even begin to describe how incredible our trip was, and how wonderful it was to come home to this charming house each day. To begin, our plane was delayed in arriving to Dublin, but Gay and Peter were happily waiting for us to arrive and greeted us as if we were old friends. The house could not have been more inviting: beds were turned down, fresh towels were laid out, and our hosts were two of the sweetest people we have ever met. After making us all a pot of tea, they took us for a tour of the town and gave us wonderful advice on where to eat, visit, and the best ways to travel around the area without a car. Being walking distance from Clontarf Castle, we ate or had a drink there each day of our visit. The convenience of the bus, as well as the many stops in walking distance from the house, made it so simple to go into Dublin city center for the St. Patrick's Day parade on Friday, and then just as easy to get out to Howth for the Prawn Festival on Saturday. It is a quick and very reasonably priced taxi drive from the airport as well. All in all, this was a trip of a lifetime that none of us will soon forget, and we will definitely try to make it back as soon as we can!

Fantastic Family Base for Dublin/Ireland Vacation

  • 5 of 5

At the risk of overselling this property so it will be unavailable the next time we want to rent it, my wife and I cannot say enough positive about the place, the location and our hosts.

-- As for the hosts, they were in regular communication with us before we arrived, then met us (even though it was ultra early) and showed us the neighborhood and helped us get settled. When we had a problem with an appliance, they resolved it in a blink of an eye. Couldn't have been nicer, more pleasant or better people.

-- As for the property, the pictures really undersell how spacious it is for a European house. At our max, we had two couples plus 4 kids and did not feel cramped at all, plus 2.5 baths is amazing and the back porch was awesome. There were multiple rooms to chill out in with plenty of sun.

-- As for the location, Clontarf is a very quiet community that happens to have grocers and 4-6 excellent "night out" restaurants within walking distance, plus a couple of excellent quicker places including an awesome sandwich shop (Kennedy's) and a chipper. The house is a block off the sea-side promenade which was amazing to walk on. Then, we could either take the bus or the DART into downtown in 15-20 minutes without any problem at all. Plus, if you rent a car, you can pop up the seaside to any of the awesome seaside towns (or take the DART there) in no time or hop on the M50 to get outside of Dublin easily. We used the house as a home base to travel to Europe and it was an easy/quick/cheap shot to/from the Dublin Airport.

We couldn't have been happier with this house.

Amazing family home in a beautiful street

  • 5 of 5

Thank you very much to Frank and Catherina for sharing their amazing family home.

My family were over from Australia for my wedding and this house was just around the corner from our own place.

The house is easy to find, conveniently located close to bus stops, supermarkets and is also a relatively cheap taxi from the airport and from town too.

Was a perfect home away from home for everyone!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful home for a wonderful Autumn break. It's clean & very well appointed with everything you could possibly need - like being in your own home. It's on a lovely street, close to downtown & shops, bus, the beach. The hosts are very accommodating & keep great care of the property. We will stay here again. Thanks !

Comfortable & Convenient

  • 5 of 5

This home provides a great location for an extended time in the Dublin area. My wife and I, along with our traveling companions, stayed for a week while we explored the eastern regions of Ireland. The hosts are very helpful and available if needed; neighbors are friendly; the environs are quiet and relaxing. Close by are some good places for dining, as well as grocery, cleaners, bakery, and drug store - all in all, a wonderful choice. The house has plenty of room, a well-supplied kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and a lovely outside sitting area for early morning coffee. Public transportation is an easy access, however, we had a car and found the travel to be easy and convenient. Our group was comfortable and satisfied with the entire accommodation package.

Car: not necessary

The property is located very close to Clontarf Castle while being a hotel it also has bars and restaurants varying from simple to sophisticated food. Nolans supermarket is a bit of a walk and is a really nice place to shop.On that same street - Vernon Ave.

there are many restaurants and the must see Sheds Pub [rustic]. Public transport is close by also in the form of buses and is probably the best way to get into the city.
