This Clontarf property is a hidden gem. We had a wonderful experience staying at this property while on vacation in Dublin. Very clean, very spacious with all of amenities. Owners very responsive and easy to deal with. We will definitely repeat.

Perfect Vacation Home in Ireland

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at this property and can honestly say it was perfect for our needs. Everyone had their own room and privacy. We relaxed each night in the rooms off the kitchen and planned our next day's journey/adventure. As a mom, I truly appreciated the washer (brand new) and dryer conveniently located right off the kitchen. Having a washer and dryer was an important factor for us since I was determined we weren't checking any luggage on our flights.

The location of the house is ideal. We appreciated Gay and Peter showing us "the lay of the land" upon our arrival and for their recommendations for the local restaurants/bakeries/shops. We walked to Clontarf Castle for drinks and to print our boarding passes. We walked and also drove to Nolan's for groceries and were able to leave the car parked at the house and walk to dinner in Clontarf. Even though we had a rental car, we took the bus into Dublin our first day. The bus stop is conveniently located not far from the house if one didn't have a rental car.

The house was clean and had all the amenities one would expect. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property.

Great house and a great time there!

  • 5 of 5

The house is very beautiful and spacious. We especially enjoyed the nice

light in the winter garden. We were eight people, which the house could

easily accomodate. Having three bathrooms to share was also very

convenient. The kitchen is well equipped and overall the house is clean

and comfortable.

The couple minding the house are relatives of the owners who live in

America. They are very warm people and they took lots of time explaining and showing the

shopping opportunities in the neighborhood and recommending restaurants.

We definitely recommend a stay in this house!

A wonderful home for a once in a lifetime trip!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot even begin to describe how incredible our trip was, and how wonderful it was to come home to this charming house each day. To begin, our plane was delayed in arriving to Dublin, but Gay and Peter were happily waiting for us to arrive and greeted us as if we were old friends. The house could not have been more inviting: beds were turned down, fresh towels were laid out, and our hosts were two of the sweetest people we have ever met. After making us all a pot of tea, they took us for a tour of the town and gave us wonderful advice on where to eat, visit, and the best ways to travel around the area without a car. Being walking distance from Clontarf Castle, we ate or had a drink there each day of our visit. The convenience of the bus, as well as the many stops in walking distance from the house, made it so simple to go into Dublin city center for the St. Patrick's Day parade on Friday, and then just as easy to get out to Howth for the Prawn Festival on Saturday. It is a quick and very reasonably priced taxi drive from the airport as well. All in all, this was a trip of a lifetime that none of us will soon forget, and we will definitely try to make it back as soon as we can!

Fantastic Family Base for Dublin/Ireland Vacation

  • 5 of 5

At the risk of overselling this property so it will be unavailable the next time we want to rent it, my wife and I cannot say enough positive about the place, the location and our hosts.

-- As for the hosts, they were in regular communication with us before we arrived, then met us (even though it was ultra early) and showed us the neighborhood and helped us get settled. When we had a problem with an appliance, they resolved it in a blink of an eye. Couldn't have been nicer, more pleasant or better people.

-- As for the property, the pictures really undersell how spacious it is for a European house. At our max, we had two couples plus 4 kids and did not feel cramped at all, plus 2.5 baths is amazing and the back porch was awesome. There were multiple rooms to chill out in with plenty of sun.

-- As for the location, Clontarf is a very quiet community that happens to have grocers and 4-6 excellent "night out" restaurants within walking distance, plus a couple of excellent quicker places including an awesome sandwich shop (Kennedy's) and a chipper. The house is a block off the sea-side promenade which was amazing to walk on. Then, we could either take the bus or the DART into downtown in 15-20 minutes without any problem at all. Plus, if you rent a car, you can pop up the seaside to any of the awesome seaside towns (or take the DART there) in no time or hop on the M50 to get outside of Dublin easily. We used the house as a home base to travel to Europe and it was an easy/quick/cheap shot to/from the Dublin Airport.

We couldn't have been happier with this house.

Amazing family home in a beautiful street

  • 5 of 5

Thank you very much to Frank and Catherina for sharing their amazing family home.

My family were over from Australia for my wedding and this house was just around the corner from our own place.

The house is easy to find, conveniently located close to bus stops, supermarkets and is also a relatively cheap taxi from the airport and from town too.

Was a perfect home away from home for everyone!

Car: not necessary

The property is located very close to Clontarf Castle while being a hotel it also has bars and restaurants varying from simple to sophisticated food. Nolans supermarket is a bit of a walk and is a really nice place to shop.On that same street - Vernon Ave.

there are many restaurants and the must see Sheds Pub [rustic]. Public transport is close by also in the form of buses and is probably the best way to get into the city.
