The Best Week Of Our Year....

  • 5 of 5

This was the third year we spent our vacation at this cabin, and we still love it. The best part is that it's right on the water. You can walk right in to the lake, or dive in from the dock. You can sit on that dock and watch the sunset, or sneak out in the morning with your coffee. You can use the canoe, or the rowboat, or bring your own boat and launch it across the lake, and dock it right there at the cabin. You can bring your kayaks, too. You can sit out on the screened porch, and listen to the loons. If you get chilly, there's a fireplace in the living room, as well as a wood burning stove. The kitchen is small and cozy, and it has two really nice roomy refrigerators! There's a coffee maker, toaster, toaster oven, and pots and pans, dishes, and everything you could possibly need, already there. There's also a gas grill on the back patio, which works really well. With a full bathroom and two half baths, four bedrooms, including the huge dorm-style room that's a blast for the kids, you can stretch out in this camp. The Adirondack air is so clean and fresh, and this camp has plenty of nice big windows to open up to enjoy it. There are lots of comfy chairs for around the outdoor fire pit, and to use on the dock. The owners are nice people too, kind and honest and friendly, and they do their best to make your vacation pleasant. If you're lucky enough to get a week here, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year to have a sisters reunion, along with a couple of dear friends, at Sunset Haven and I can't wait to come back next year! The cabin is rustic vintage Adirondack camp style, not a luxury lodge. But great attention has been given to providing for everything you might want. We slept eight adults and three kids- four generations- comfortably and had beds left over. The addition of a half bath upstairs in the sleeping loft is a huge bonus. The bed we slept in was like sleeping in a cloud. The kitchen is basic but has everything. Who puts elegant Polish Pottery in a rental cabin? Beautiful! But plastic dishes if you want them for the kids, and plenty of pots and pans. The Warm September air actually let us have a couple of swims, and Bill provides great pontoon boat rides to tour beautiful Cranberry Lake. Coffee on the dock, loons and eagles across the lake, fire in the fireplace, supper in the screen porch, even the sound of night time rain on the roof- such relaxing get away. Don't miss the very best blueberry pancakes with real butter and real maple syrup at the diner in the hamlet of Cranberry Lake.

Very fun weekend.

This place is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's second year staying at Sunset Haven, and our experience this year was just as fantastic as last year. The cabin itself is spacious, with more than enough room for four kids and two parents (it could have very easily accommodated several more) and comes equipped with anything a vacationing family might need. The setting is gorgeous, with enough of a mix of peace and adventure to take up many hours of rest and fun -- Bear Mountain and the Wild Center in Tupper Lake were highlights, along with Big Pine and Sliding Rock Falls. Our eleven-year-old didn't bother with his tablet the entire time we were there! And the owners are gracious, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area -- the perfect "Adirondack Concierges." We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Wonderful family get-away!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage on Cranberry Lake! The cottage was perfect for our group (two sets of grandparents, one set of parents and six kids!). The bunk room was great for the kids! The kitchen is stocked with everything you would ever need for meals. We brought a lot of things with us that were completely unnecessary because everything we could ever need was there!

The kids loved swimming in the shallow water (perfect for little ones!). The dock was extra wide which was great with such a large group. The kids caught TONS of fish off the dock. We enjoyed several hiking adventures in the area (The waterfalls on Tooley Pond Rd were a special treat, as was Bear Mountain).

Sunset Haven is the perfect place for a relaxing family getaway!

Lives up to its name

  • 5 of 5

The name says it all. There is no better place to watch such amazing sunsets! Our children fished and jumped off the dock and made lifelong memories. We enjoyed a wonderful tour of the lake with the owner, who also let us jump in for a swim at the nearby sandbar. This is our second trip to Sunset Haven and we were impressed again. It was clean, comfortable, and tranquil, especially with the sound of nearby loons. A truly Adirondack experience!

Great family place!

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's 3rd time at Sunset Haven. Eleven of us this year. We are three generations and it is wonderful to be able to share time together in the lovely, relaxing place that is complete with extras. This year we even enjoyed a lovely ride on the lake with Mr. Evans. Such nice, kind people.

Located on the East side of the lake...we get the best sunsets on the lake! We are a short walk from the NYSDEC public campground and the trail head to Bear Mountain. Cranberry Lake is one of the largest lakes in the Adirondacks with the majority of the shoreline being State-owned. There are dozens of picnic and camping areas on the lake. Trail heads for hikes to mountain ponds and peaks around the lake are accessible by boat.
