We bought this home to bring our family to from Maryland and we have many special memories here with our friends. We love the slower pace of Fountain Hills but the proximity to Phoenix and Scottsdale is good. I sell homes for a living and have not found another home in Fountain Hills with this view and setting. 10 out of 10 for convenience and getting away from it all!
eric purchased this house in 2005
This home is truly a retreat from everyday life every day you are there. The 46 foot long pebble tec lap pool in the front sits on one of the best perches in the valley. The stone hot tub flows in to the pool and is covered by the lanai. The master opens to the lanai as does the kitchen and family room. An open air sentry retreat on the roof of the garage affords views in all four directions and is a great gathering place in the evening for a cocktail.
You will find many homes with some kind of view. To be able to capture the fountain and all the mountain views of the valley In one lot is rare. Add a 400 square foot lanai and an unbelievable pool as the cherry on top. The pool and hot tub can be heated by purchasing propane form a local same day delivery service. Looking to do something fun nearby? Only a 5 minutes to great golfing, tennis, restaurants and shopping.
We enjoyed our stay in this house because of the amazing view. The sunrises and sunsets were awesome. We entertained on the patio and really enjoyed being able to see the fountain. Eric(the owner) was very helpful if we had any questions.
This property gets 2 stars because of the nice pool and the views towards Four Peaks and the fountain. Everything else we consider a run down property with careless maintenance, cheap appliances, missing TLC (tender loving care), broken patio furniture, peeling off of paint and a not at all welcome feeling when you enter the home. - We arrived after having driven 3400 miles in 5 days, but still at daylight, which was favorable given the fact that the key to the house is in a lockbox at the rear entrance, which makes you walk uphill/downhill over gravel to the rear patio, which could be an adventure at nighttime. There was no bathroom tissue, no Kleenex, no kitchen paper towels, no (clean) towels, the A/C was turned off (inside temp at 90F), no hair dryer, flip flops and dirty socks on the hearth, rotten food in the fridge, more dirty clothing in the walking closet and garbage bags filled with dirty laundry all over the house. The next day a new cleaning crew was called in and it took them hours to at least get the inside liveable, while sending pictures to the owner about burn stains in sinks (this is a non smoking property, but we found cigarette buds all over the place) and the overall condition of the house. - Stained food on plates and a pan was sitting in the dishwasher, and in the cabinets. We bought towels for the bathroom and kitchen and got reimbursed for them and a reimbursement for the inconvenience which was less than the cleaning fee that we were charged. We managed with ONE pool towel! There are no cushions for the patio furniture and the outside dining chairs give a feeling of rocking chairs, but they are simply worn out, others have torn lining. Out of the three sliding patio doors two were jammed/unusable. - There is a plumbing problem at the kitchen sink because one day we had clear water coming up, sitting in the sink and ended up sitting in the dishwasher, having rusty baskets/trays, which is disgusting in itself. - We used the kitchen only for preparing basic breakfast and went out for dinner. Dinnerware and glassware are less than basic. - The internet connection is fast but breaks down frequently on a daily basis and needs to be rebooted every time. - This 11 day stay at this property was overall disgusting and, when renting through VRBO ever again, we first check out a property while staying at a hotel, we travel during shoulder season where this is possible.
My wife and I have been vacationing in the Phoenix area for over 8 years now. Over the years we have grown to like the Fountain Hills area. We like to hike and mountain bike so staying within 30 minutes of some of the best trails in the valley was very convenient. We were looking for a home to rent in Fountain Hills that had a pool, privacy, view and was quiet and comfortable. Eric's home met all our criteria and we were very pleased with our decision. The two weeks went by all too quickly, but we enjoyed every minute. The home is very neat and clean, nicely furnished and has a nice southwest Arizona feel in what we thought was a perfect location. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and the people we met in the community very friendly. We spent hours in the pool and out on the deck soaking up the sun and the view which was outstanding. You can see the famous fountain from the deck which looks amazing in the evening under the stars. There are some really good restaurants in the local area within a 5-minute drive from the house. There are a few Supermarkets close by as well...we liked Fry's. Scottsdale is a short 20 minute drive away if you want to take in a movie, shop or site see. Driving up/down the steep driveway was no problem at all in our SUV. My driveway at home is similar, so I felt right at home. Eric was very responsive when we had questions or needed assistance. We can't wait to go back again....loved it.
My husband and I rented this house last winter (2015) for 5 months. Absolute disaster from arrival day. Maintenance on this house neglected with constant break downs. Sinks and toilets blocked and leaking, stove garbarator broken, had to be replaced.garage door broken.Spa heater broken, then service stopped as bills not paid.TV sound hopeless hooked to one old speaker. No lights in large cupboard, no replacement bulbs. On and on, lovely setting but neglected house. No king size blanket for bed, no lights outside Inadequate kitchen utensils etc, burnt pot, fire not working, house just a disgrace to be rented in this condition. Only 2 patio chairs plus an old table set with unsafe chairs. Everything should have been checked before renting, worst house in 11 years of renting ,
Talked to owner constantly who at end of rental was going to compensate us for this ongoing situation, have never heard a thing to this date !
Have a larger list of all the bad maintenance problems in this rental,.
Amazing views but completely disgusting rental, badly neglected maintenance being the main problem throughout the house.
My wife and I stayed at the Lantana property for almost 3 months in the summer of 2015 while we waited to close on our own house here in Fountain Hills. During this time we became intimately familiar with the property. It is by far one of the best houses we’ve stayed in. First the views, they are absolutely amazing. From the patio you have unobstructed views of the mountains, four peaks and the Fountain. If that’s not enough, you can get true panoramic views from the rooftop patio. The long lap pool was excellent for exercising and it’s heated if you’re coming in the winter. The furniture, although slightly older is all top end and highly comfortable. The décor of the house is tastefully done in a traditional South Western style. Also, the owner recently updated to flat screen TV’s if you do choose to stay indoors. I work from home and the internet connection was a respectable 50 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up and Verizon cell phone reception was rock solid. The house is on a quiet street but conveniently located within 5 minutes’ drive / 15 minutes’ walk to a grocery store. The only thing to be aware of is that because the driveway is so step, most regular cars will have difficulty getting to the top. However, there is plenty of parking below if you don’t mind a 30 second hike to the top. Lastly, the owner of the property is very friendly, courteous and promptly addressed all of our needs. Highly recommended!!!
This house is certainly one of a kind. From the spectacular views and swimming pool to roof top deck. On a cul de sac, this is an extremely quiet neighborhood. The view of the fountain was a treat and the house was quite comfortable and much bigger than it appeared in the photos online. Furniture very comfortable and higher end. This is perfect get away house. It does take about 20 minutes to get into Scottsdale which was where we were visiting family. The kitchen was adequate. We had trouble with the cable and wifi upon arrival, but Eric was able to resolve. Home is perfect if you are looking for some quiet time. We did have dinner at nearby Alchemy - just spectacular.
4 hours from the Grand Canyon, 2 hours from Tuscon and Flagstaff! horseback riding, golf, antiquing and art shopping close by. Everything you could desire is just 20 minutes away! The hugely successful Fountain Hills Art Show take place twice a year: a must attend event with fantastic art and food from all over the country!
