About this property
Carmel Valley Village, Close to Carmel, Laguna Seca, Monterey, Pebble Beach.
This beautifully maintained five-bedroom home, 3 bath home, with additional large bonus king loft, is a lovely Carmel Valley retreat (total of seven beds {just added a daybed}). It is beautifully furnished, and the kitchen area makes it nice for intimate family gatherings with casual dining. The kitchen is well-equipped with special touches. There is also a formal living/dining area. While the house is spacious, smaller groups enjoy it as well and please ask about lesser stays, last minute, etc. The main floor has kitchen with dining area, four of the five bedrooms, three bathrooms, formal dining room and game nook (with poker table, games, etc.). The bedrooms all have separate entrances and bathrooms are near to all! The 'bonus' loft is a large, spacious upstairs room with comfy king-size bed and seating. If you are a group of singles, ask owner about additional accommodations so that each has their own bed. The house overlooks beautiful Carmel Valley hills and is close to the Village and many weddings destination sites. It is a short hop to Monterey/Pebble/Carmel/Pacific Grove/Big Sur, etc. Relax on the patio and sip a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The fog may roll in, but usually stops short of the Village. The house is nicely set up for three king bedrooms, one of which is 400 s.f. Each with its own entrance, and two queen-size rooms (bedroom and office, plus bonus loft king). Or, come as a couple, and enjoy the house with the 400 s.f. master with flat screen with seating for sipping wine and watching the northern views (ask for pricing). You will most likely see the wild turkeys and deer as well! The nightly fee fluctuates dependent upon time of year, availability, wedding season, events, etc. Because of Monterey County permitting requirements, the home does have a 7 night minimum stay. Please do talk to owner about any last-minute requests. We limit the number of guests to no more than 7, in keeping with county ordinances and in consideration of our neighbors. The downstairs queen room also has its own family room and flat screen television. There are a total of three flat screen televisions, cable, and wireless internet. Formal living room and dining room, and game/poker table, which can be converted to office space. Spacious outside patio and BBQ.
We are in a family-type neighborhood and do not allow events at the property or shuttle buses (our street is too narrow). Uber/Lyft is available. The kitchen is "hang out" friendly with casual table and seating/family room area. It is easy to make day trips to Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Monterey, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and just about anywhere else on the Peninsula. Always contact owners for variations on daily stay requirements, etc. Special pricing for off-season stays. We are a stone's throw to Holman Ranch and other wedding venues. If you are looking for a longer stay, please do contact owner for special pricing.

About the host
Hosted by Cindy

We are a professional couple who have lived in Carmel Valley for over fifty years. We love the valley and both of us grew up here; that is, Cindy in Carmel Valley and Mike in Pacific Grove. In 1976 we acquired the property and since then, have loved the Village, our friends, work, and volunteer work. Cindy graduated from Carmel High School and received a Master's Degree in Education in 2011 from Brandman University. Mike is a successful painting contractor, having graduated from Pacific Grove High School and attended Monterey Peninsula College. There are not too many places in Carmel, Carmel Valley, or Pebble, where he has not left his touch. Mike sits on three separate volunteer boards, including the Carmel Valley Kiwanis Club, Carmel Valley Community Park, and on the board for a private HOA residence. Cindy continues to substitute teach, volunteer for two separate resale venues, and enjoys her older Lab, Beau, and super mellow cat, Sandy (aka "OC" for Orange Cat!).
While raising their children both Cindy and Mike were involved in their sports activities, volunteering as coaches/team mom, and holding down full-time jobs. Both have always loved the Valley and have given back to the local community in many ways.
We love it when our guests stroll through the Village and visit our lovely park that we both take pride in.
Our little Village has seen many changes through the years, and it is still progressing. Please ask about hiking, Regional Parks, etc.

Why they chose this property
Carmel Valley is undisputedly one of the most beautiful places on earth with stellar weather. Having grown up here, we love the sense of community and the sense of belonging. People in the Valley love their community and we are involved in the many charitable events that take place to keep our Village so quaint. Memories of playing as a child in the Carmel River bring me much happiness. After a good rain, we can hear the river roaring in the distance. Living in Carmel Valley is like living at a resort and sometimes we have to pinch ourselves to see if it is for real! We married as high school sweethearts, and it was our dream to one day own a home in Carmel Valley.
There were a lot of baby steps to take in order to buy/build/remodel in this area; however, we took each step at a time. We are so happy that others can enjoy our home and share some of the happy memories that we have experienced. The walls exude love and many guests have shared their own happy pictures of their stay here.
We never would have imagined that our lovely Village would have some of the finest wine tasting rooms, great restaurants, wedding venues, art galleries, along with the local feed store, hardware store, and saloon with cowboy boots hanging from the ceiling!
It's nice that it is only twenty minutes on Carmel Valley Road to the Mouth of the Valley, and other destinations. However, it's hard to leave Carmel Valley!

What makes this property unique
The moment we drove onto the property, we knew it was for us. The house was badly in need of some TLC and we spent years perfecting it. The house is on a "not a through street" so very little traffic, yet close to schools, the Village, wine tasting, and wedding venues. We loved the oak trees, the deer, the turkeys, and the way that neighbors were friendly, smiled, and always there to lend a helping hand. Definitely the views played a huge role, in addition to a life-long remodel project! Also, our boys could ride their bikes to school, play in the river, and grow up in a loving community.
We are close to Carmel Valley Village and its lovely wine tasting rooms. We are 20 minutes to Carmel-by-the-Sea and within thirty minutes to Monterey, Pebble Beach, and Pacific Grove. A short twenty-minute drive to Laguna Seca. Five minutes to Holman Ranch, 15 minutes to Carmel Valley Ranch, Folktale Winery, The Holly Farm, Hidden Valley, and Gardener's. We have several 'secret' swimming hole spots along the Carmel River. Within minutes one can begin a long walk or a rigorous hike at Garland Regional Park. Of course, the Aquarium has reopened and is in full swing. Best to buy tickets online beforehand.
We enjoy walking our dogs every morning up to the sprawling Meadow and the dog-friendly Community Park off of Ford Road. We also have several favorite restaurants in the Village, including Cafe Rustica, The Corkscrew, Will's Fargo, Bernardus, Los Laureles Lodge, Roux, Chop House, Running Iron, Plaza Linda (and more!). The small hole in the wall, Kathy's Little Kitchen, has the best breakfast burritos! Also, a plethora of wine-tasting, markets, art studios, etc.
One can also make a nice day trip to Big Sur: 20 minutes to Highway One and then 26 miles to Big Sur. We are a great base for any adventure on the Monterey Peninsula. About 1 1/2 hours to San Jose and 2(+) hours to SFO.
Many golf courses are readily available as well.
