We had such a wonderful time staying here. The house was insanely clean and had everting we needed. The views are amazing and make sure to check out the stars at night. Being able to sit on the porch and watch the farmer with his cows was so peaceful. Margaret, the owner, was as so kind and accommodating. We loved the treats left for us when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Stay!

The house is spotless and well updated. Very comfortable beds and plenty of space. Great morning/evening views from the porch. Host was very attentive (not overly) and made out stay wonderful.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property! From the moment we arrived, it was clear the hosts had thought of everything. We were greeted with a thoughtful welcome note, which immediately made us feel at home.The views were simply spectacular and quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip. Whether enjoying a morning coffee or relaxing in the evening, the covered porch provided the perfect place to take it all in.Inside, the home was spotless, comfortable, and exceptionally well-stocked. We were continually impressed by how many amenities and conveniences were available—every time we needed something, it seemed it was already there. The attention to detail was outstanding.The property also offered numerous extras that we didn't even have time to fully enjoy, including a fire pit, Adirondack chairs for stargazing, and several other thoughtful touches that would make a longer stay even more enjoyable.This was one of the best-equipped and most welcoming vacation rentals we've stayed in. Beautiful views, impeccable cleanliness, abundant amenities, and wonderful hospitality made for a truly memorable experience. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

The property was perfect for our 3 person hunting party. I travel a lot, and the cleanliness of the property was remarkable. The host obviously takes pride in how the property is maintained, cleaned, and how it presents when you first see it. Nice little touches everywhere, like a nice welcome note, a white board in the kitchen with favorite restaurants and watering holes, etc in the local area, and all the necessary cooking and cleaning supplies. I will definitely be staying again.

Beautiful Property and Nice Stay

The property was gorgeous and my family and I had a wonderful stay. The boys all went skiing and it was a good location between Gunnison and Crested Butte. Everything you need is provided. We would definitely come back. Margaret was a great host.

Perfect host

We were able to come and go. Leave our trailer to site see. Or take it with us when we went to play. House is very nice and served our purpose.

Perfect home base

The Rocking Horse was the perfect place for our trip! We were in Gunnison four nights and hit two national parks. We also spent a day trout fishing. Margaret has thought of everything for the home... we cooked most of our meals at the house and the extra spices she provides is more than I've seen at other properties. The bed was comfy, everything was clean and homey and the porch was an awesome, private place to unwind after our adventures of the day. We would definitely stay here again!

Colorado trip for parents

Margaret was an excellent host. My sister and I brought our 90ish parents to Gunnison probably for their last trip to the mountains. The house was perfect for the 4 of us. We couldn't figure out Roku, she came over showed us how to use. Dad pointed out there wasn't a toaster, but there was a toaster over. Margaret brought in a toaster the next day. We have rented a lot of VRBO houses and this was the best host ever!!! Margaret, Thank you for sharing your house with us. We made some awesome memories!!! PS: Dad thinks you need a screen door.

No WiFi and detour

My team and I had to be up there for work. We didn’t end up getting into town until 8. Once we got there we had realized the road was shut down to get to the property and appeared to have been like this for a little while and was this way the entire trip. The only reason I mention this is maps wasn’t showing us an alternate route nor were we given a heads up about the closure before checking in. So it was kind of a pain to try and find an alternate route late at night and in the dark in an area I’m not familiar with. We also use our laptops and phones for work and need to contact clients and send off data and when we got to the property we realized we had little to no service the whole time as well as no WiFi. Once I told the host about the WiFi they told me they purposely turn WiFi off and they were intending on turning it back on for the day we were departing for another guest. It took two and a half days to finally get wifi so it made work a pain and not having tv kinda pointless to have tvs. I really loved this property but it was a bummer this occurred. It’s right on a farm and beautiful so I’d come back again

Dear Zachary, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and take full responsibility for it. This was entirely my oversight. I understand that my guests expect the best experience, which I unfortunately did not deliver. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to lack proper directions due to the bridge being closed and dealing with the Internet outage, no TV, and poor cell service (which is improved with an internet connection). The Rocking Horse was a wonderful find! Not only was our host communicative and kind, but the view was better than I could've expected! Nestled between hay fields, foothills and woods, we woke each morning to the sound of cows mooing and the wind blowing through the aspens out front. Our host had basic amenities available to us, and asked us several times if we needed anything else!Everything was clean and orderly, and easy to move into. With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a good size living area, not too big, but very comfortable. And the front porch was where we ate almost every meal and enjoyed our coffee and wine! Hummingbirds were a daily sight on the front porch too.Star gazing is a must here too!No air-conditioning but it wasn't a problem as the night's cool down so the fresh air was perfect! Bonus that our dogs were allowed here for a minimal fee and they absolutely loved it too! It was easy to run, walk or bike directly from the house and conveniently located to other things we wanted to do! We will be staying here again! Highly recommend!

Very lovely property at the end of the road so peaceful and quiet. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals in house. The host was very responsive and added personal touches to make our stay enjoyable.

Unfortunately, since your dogs were on our couch and master bedroom bed—despite being informed that this was against our pet policy—I had a lot of extra cleaning to do, especially with the excess dog hair and filth all over the bed. We have the pet policy in place to protect all our guests. We want everyone to have an excellent experience, whether they have dogs or not.

This home was a very nice quiet stay while visiting in the area. The property is at the end of a road. The neighbor houses are not too close. Margaret was easy to communicate with & we did not need to reach out for any needs. We would consider stay there if we visit the area again.Candace
