About Ernie Reale
I grew up in the area and have always loved what it offered recreationally. Skiing and riding my bike as a kid was put on hold in the 80's and 90's as I indulged in the famous Hunter Mountain bar scene. I rediscovered the beauty of the surroundings in 1992 as the mountain bike scene came on. I have been riding the area for 22 plus years and ran the property as The Mountain Bike Inn for 8 years. Thirteen years of hard work has brought the property to what it is know. A very cool place with a unique décor and awaiting you to enjoy.
Ernie Reale purchased this House in 1999

Four full separate living rooms , one of which is a huge game room allow everyone to relax in different spaces and settings.

Rustic, spacious and great owner!
This place is exactly as the owner, and others, have described. It’s rustic, yet very well equipped with kitchen tools, linens and space! The home also has a great history that the owner Ernie will gladly share upon your arrival.
Ernie is very responsive, with whatever is needed. He’s kind, and friendly as well!
The space at the home is well laid out for large groups, to provide gathering spaces and privacy. The back deck and yard around the fire pit, are also very nice spaces. Stuart’s store is nice and close down the street, as well as “town”, and several breweries. We saw lots of hiking trails, and a few waterfalls.
We really enjoyed our time here as a large group of 23+, and also enjoyed our interactions with Ernie!
Great host and a super-fun house for a big group
Ernie looked after us with great hospitality. We had a bunch of snow, he was on the case plowing the drive, super communicative and ensuring we had a great time. We had a big group with a bunch of kids and the house accommodated all of our needs. Thanks for everything, Ernie!
Perfect house for multiple family get away to Hunter Mountain
We stayed for two nights to celebrate the new year. There were 5 families with young children and the house was able to accommodate all of us. The kitchen is large and able to sit a large group. It also has pretty much everything you need to prepare a nice meal. We only brought a few things, like a large pan for beef tenderloin and extra kitchen towels. Otherwise the kitchen was stocked. The TV room is right by the kitchen, which is convenient for watching the kids. We also played some ping pong and did karaoke. The air hockey didn’t seem to be working but that was fine and we didn’t bother asking Ernie about it-if we had, I’m sure he would have helped us with it. The karaoke machine works by hooking it up to your phone (but note you need the older version of the phone or iPad that accepts the old type of headphone jack). We had fun with karaoke. We tried using a second mic that we brought. The machine does have an extra slot for a second mic but the sound was weird on it, so we just had to use the one mic.
The place is not fancy by any means, but I think that is pretty clear from the photos so it was just as we expected. The beds were not very comfortable but we made due for a couple nights.
Ernie was very reliable and available for all my questions before the stay. When we asked about chairs for outdoor fire pit, he offered to take them out of storage for us (they had been put away for winter).
The house is very close to Hunter Mountain (10 min drive) where some families skied or snowboarded and other did snow tubing. It is also close to the cute town with shops and restaurants.
Overall it was a great space for our families to have a chill time ringing in the new year.
Terrific family hang time; relaxed and playful old house, funky - casual - fun!
It’s not fancy - it’s the opposite - a grand old place with history and oodles of character. Charming, warm, plenty of space for activities all around the house. Big family meals together. It’s old-school country living. We were there in December and had a great time, with Hunter Mtn 10 minutes away and plenty of good eats in nearby Tannersville. Ernie is a great host: friendly and responsive, quick to answer any questions or pop over if needed. Unplug and relax here - bring extra ping pong rackets and a good air hockey puck. Lotsa space. Lotsa bathrooms. Porches. Hikes to the Falls. Sun over the mountaintops right out your door. Dogs loved it too, as much as the kids. Enjoy, and thanks Ernie - good cheer and we’ll be back!
Great stay. Great host.
A really great house! Plenty of space for large gatherings and lots of fun activities to do in the house. Ernie, the owner is very friendly and accommodating.
Already planning our next stay.
Perfect for our large group!
This house work perfectly for our group of 11 adults and 11 children. The kitchen had plenty of space for mealtimes. Multiple fridges and ovens were crucial for our Thanksgiving meal. Having so many bathrooms was really beneficial as well. And the multiple living spaces made it such a comfortable stay. We will definitely consider renting this property again for our annual gathering. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. They even brought extra sleds out for our groups of kids to use. The house was in good working order and clean. The beds aren’t the most comfortable but none were unusable. Our only real complaint is that they do not recycle. We hated the amount of garbage we produced. We weren’t given information on this right away so no one shifted gears once we learned the owners would take separated returnables and plastics. Nonetheless we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future. We highly recommend it!
