You are welcome to share our convenient, family-owned condo at the base of the mountain just seconds from the Zephyr Chair Lift. It’s only moments from picking up your skis in the locker room, walking out the back door past the hot tubs, locking on your skis and a three second ski down the access slope to the chair lift. None of the hassle of tromping on and off buses with your skis, poles and boots, your significant other’s skis, boots and poles, kids’ skis boots and poles, slogging and slipping through parking lots, wondering when or if you’re ever going to get to the lift. It is truly “the way you dreamed it would be someday”. It is ski luxury!! Exactly what is needed for a ski vacation.

If you want to avoid the fast food menus at the crowded ski lodges, just ski down the slopes and ease into your condo. Enjoy lunch on your fourth floor balcony with live entertainment as you watch the skiers come down Hughes. It’s convenient, private and features all the amenities of home. The kitchen is stocked with basic food prep items, the beds are upgraded with luxury linens and the towels in the bath are super plush.

Winter Park has great skiing but the Zephyr Lodge complex is looking dated and worn. Still a great family vacation spot.

Owner's Response: Tina's review is not one I look forward to receiving, especially when every other review over the years has been laudatory. Of course, this review is not a negative expression of anything positive related to our family condo but it is not what I would like to read. To that issue I must acknowledge that our family has been assessing the investment of future upgrades because this is our family's vacation "getaway" and we want it to be unequivocally perfect. Just as we have purchased top of the line towels for the bathroom and hot tubs as well as built-in extra closet space, new flat screen TV's, new mattresses for the bed and pull out couch and other amenities, our family discussions have centered on the issue of what to do next to enhance the ambiance of our family condo. It will without a doubt be an investment of thousands of dollars but we arrived at the conclusion during Christmas break that it's something we want for ourselves and that our guests also deserve for their family vacation. So we are going to start with purchasing new furniture, new refrigerator and then new rugs even though all of these items are still quite functional and clean. All the above being acknowledged I must comment on the positive statements Tina described. That is the fact that our family condo remains a great place for a family vacation. She describes the location as excellent and without a doubt the best location on the mountain as it is snuggled right up agains the main slope coming down from Sunspot and the ease of access to the Zephyr Lift is ideal, especially if the family includes young children. Tina is also correct that Zephyr Lodge needs to be "spiffied" up. This also has been in discussions at last August's Homeowner's Association meeting and the assessments were voted on and accepted for further improvements again for this year of 2017. I hope that I have described the situation in a comprehensive manner so that all can be assured that our family condo will be the type of home away from home our guests hope for in their ski vacationing. It's a great location, an excellent mountain and a place for a totally enjoyable family vacation.

Great condo, perfect location

We just spent 4 nights here in early January. The condo was nice, clean, well stocked and a perfect location. I loved the gas fireplace that came on/off with the flip of a switch. The condo overlooks the bottom of the Corridor run and you can see the Zephyr lift too. The bed was comfortable; my only criticism would be the pillows--they were way too hard for all of us. Bring your own pillow and you won't be able to beat this condo and location. A couple of small suggestions for improvement: the departure instructions indicated that the dishwasher had to be loaded/run, all trash removed and all linens, towels and bedding needed to be placed in the bathtub. I'd suggest that for the effort involved, it would be better to have the maid service strip the beds--as a guest, I never want to have to see the raw mattress and pillows in a rental property. yuck. We also would have liked to know that there was recycling at the property--we didn't separate our trash, and only when we took it out upon departure did we see there were recycling bins.

Owner's Response: The location of my premier located condo is a significant plus because it allows for convenience to the Zephyr Lift and to the slopes. This means guests may use their time actually skiing and enjoying their ski vacation with family and friends because they can easily ski back to their condo instead of waiting in line for a half hour to get a table at a crowded ski lodge. The location is an exceptional positive when children are involved because lugging kid's skis, poles and other gear is always a frustration as well as time consuming. The guest had positive responses to the fact that the condo was "nice, clean and well stocked". He's correct on that point because I have hired a mature couple who has an excellent sanitary cleaning protocol. They are proud of the business they have built, the positive reputation they have acquired and they take pride in their achievements. I want my guests to feel that I am invested in their comfort because they are guests in our family condo. That's why I pay more money for my sanitary cleaning service rather than hiring college students whose main focus is to get the condos quickly cleaned so they can get out on the slopes. Again, it indicates the investment I have made to provide guests with the best accommodations. That's why I keep the kitchen stocked with quality goods and top of the line amenities in the bathroom. He brought up a good point regarding the fact that for him the new pillows were "too hard" just after his complimentary statement on the beds being quite comfortable. This is the first time anyone has mentioned this issue but it's certainly an important thing to consider buying more pillows that are softer so guests may select the pillow they are comfortable with. I have the same response regarding his feelings that it would be better to have the cleaning service strip the beds , etc. rather than have the guests do it. I'll talk to my cleaning service about this issue. I have been concerned for several years now that there has not been recycling options for guests and owners. It's been talked about at Association meetings but recycling programs are not as seamless as one thinks. Winter Park is concerned about this too and there is certainly more to consider than the recycling of cardboard which was the only recycling last year. All in all I thank this guest for his comments because my aim is to exceed my guests' expectations. Warning: this condo can be an addictive experience!

Another great stay in this condo

We stayed in this condo last year and are planning to stay again next year. Need I say more?

Everything you read in the reviews is true - clean, well-maintained, nice towels/linens, snack basket, etc. There are two Zephyr Mountain Lodge buildings and only the Slopeside building is truly ski-in/ski-out. Just two floors down is the ski locker room, then out the door past the hot tubs and you're on the snow. The best part about that is no lugging skis across the village, no waiting for shuttles and no wondering where you're even going to park.

Bruce is great to work with too - he's always very responsive and helpful.

Owner's Response: In this short but to the point review M.R. says a lot when she states that she rented my condo last year and this 2015/16 season and is already planning on another season of renting my Slopeside Ski in and Ski out condo for 2017. That's the kind of return guests I am fortunate to have. She is familiar with the convenience of the location of my condo and appreciates the extra time she can have on the slopes instead of lugging skis, polls, and boots around to find a space to put on her ski gear in a crowded ski lodge. She also provides a glowing report on the cleanliness of my condo and the quality of the towels I provide for the bathroom and for the hot tubs. My hot tub towels are thick weave and 34 by 48 inches. This might not seem significant but when the temperature is minus 15 and the snow is falling and wind blowing at 15 mph. it's absolutely great to have a towel that is a premium size and quality to wrap yourself in and make the dash to the back door of the private locker room. That's the type of quality I work to provide in areas which include the fully stocked kitchen, quality of linens an extra small closets to store boots and jackets. She is also grateful that she is in my premier condo in the Slopeside Building which she assesses to be the only true "Ski in and Ski Out" building. All you have to do is go down 2 floors in the elevator to the private ski locker room, grab your skis, walk out 20 feet past the hot tubs, clamp on your skis and 3 seconds of a ride to the Zephyr Express lift. It's fantastic. I also appreciate M.R's statement of the extra things I provide in support of her family's vacation. The "welcome basket" doesn't calculate as an important thing but when you come over the mountain later than planned and you have hungry kids it's a real help to be able to have a snack or two for them before you can get to a restaurant or the grocery store. Another factor I appreciate is her evaluation of me in the work we did together in the sales process which to me doesn't stop after the contract is signed. I keep myself available to answer questions about the best ski slopes for her family's skiing abilities, restaurants she might like and even contacts for child care services. This type of involvement on my part helps make the ski vacation a memorable time. One that can be reminisced for several years. That's why we are on our 3rd. year of rentals but my owner's warning is that this condo can be an addictive experience.

Truly Ski-in and Ski-out Condo

I chose this condo based on the reviews I read here at HomeAway and they weren't wrong. What I didn't know was that most of the condos in the building are managed by Winter Park Resort, but beause the owner bypasses this, we enjoyed the same condo as others in the building at a much better rate. The condo was just as good as described in the ad and reviews.

My son slept on the pullout and it must have been comfortable because I couldn't get him up in the morning. There were plenty of pillows, towels, and blankets for everyone. There were even enough racks in the bathroom to hang all the towels after showers. The owner also provided extra towels for the hot tub. In a condo, I always worry about having to buy things that are provided by hotels, but there was name brand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shave gel in the bathroom, condiments in the kitchen, and a thoughtful basket with snacks to hold us until we could get to the grocery store.

Not only was the unit well maintained, but there were extra nice touches like a bench, shelf, and hooks by the door for us to sit and take off boots and store our ski clothes. Of course, our ski equipment was conveniently stored either at the ski shop on the first floor or the private lockers.

The owner sent us several emails with information on the mountain, resort, trails, local discounts, restaurant recommendations, etc. He was really easy to work with, even when I forgot to send the second payment - just sent me a friendly reminder so I could submit it with the final payment.

If you've ever been to Winter Park, you know ski-in, ski-out condos are rare. This is one of those rare exceptions. The rental shop was on the first floor the building and we just walked out the back door to the base of the resort. We were even able to go back to the condo for lunch and then go back out to ski. It was really nice to not have to catch the shuttle bus you have to use if you're staying almost anywhere else in Winter Park and have the freedom to come and go as we pleased.

Whether you're a beginner or expert skier/snowboarder, Winter Park is one of, if not the best place to go. Don't let the scarcity of ski-in, ski-out places to stay keep you away. This condo is all you need.

Owner's Response: Kathleen immediately states the "reviews" of my ski in/ski out condo were a positive influence in her rental choice, a choice that proved true in every way in which the, "condo was as described". I have purchased top of the line linens, pillows, towels, mattresses, toilet amenities, etc. Although it is perhaps not a major issue I have also purchased thick weave, 32 by 62 inch special towels which may be taken to the hot tubs. I continually try to think of ways to provide the best items possible to make a family's ski vacation the best it can be. That's why I upgraded my condo to install a special cabinet to provide extra space for storing ski boots, jackets, etc. Another factor not overlooked by Kathleen was the cleanliness of my condo which is no accident. I hire local adult individuals who take pride in their cleaning position and maintain the condo in the best possible manner. Of course it costs me more but my cleaning service follows an exceptionally thorough sanitary cleaning protocol which is highly appreciated by all my guests. The "right on the mountain" location is another significant point of luxury and convenience that makes a family ski vacation a memorable experience. Kathleen, like other guests describe the ease of access to the condo from the mountain in that her family is able to ski down the main slope, right up to the hot tubs & the private locker room door to go to their condo to have lunch. I appreciate the recognition of Kathleen's description of the type of communication and personal service I provide because my goal is to meet the expectations of my guests and hopefully exceed them. That's why honest reviews are so important and guests can trust the communication. She is correct that real ski in ski out condos are a scarcity at ski resorts and she acknowledges the importance of the location as a meaningful factor in making the ski vacation an experience to remember. I attempt to provide further support of making their family vacation an event to remember by informing my guests of the idiosyncrasies of ski trails, restaurants and local discounts on ski rentals that only "locals" know about. Her culminating enthusiastic statement that Winter Park is the "best place" to go whether expert skier, beginner or boarder reminds me of previous comments by guests who have stated, "Once you have stayed Slopeside nothing else will do". Owner's Warning: This condo can easily be an addictive experience!

Wonderful condo in Winter Park

We were fortunate to find this condo a week before our trip. From the first time we spoke with Bruce until we left Winter Park, our experience was wonderful. The condo was exactly as advertised, and the location was exceptional, this is truly a ski-out, ski-in location, and all the amenities you need are close by. You can park your car and forget about it! The detailed instructions, tips and tricks that Bruce provided prior to our trip were all right on the money and very helpful. The condo was exactly the right size, a kitchen, cozy living room with a fire place, balcony, bedroom and bathroom. All you need for up to four people. We had fantastic weather while we were there, making for excellent spring skiing. The ski trails were perfect for our group with challenges for those who wanted them to gentle slopes for the beginners. We found the resort to be very family friendly, and will be back to Winter Park, and Bruce's condo.

Owner's Response: Since my goal is to meet and hopefully exceed the expectations of my guests, this email is an exceptional dose of confirmation. The first issue as far as I'm concerned is the working relationship because I am confident in the qualities my condo provides as stated in the review: it is very clean, well taken care of and built for the convenience of 4 people. The ambiance is welcoming and "cozy" just like home, it is "family friendly". Of course it is a huge plus that my condo is located right on the mountain and only 75 feet down the access trail to the Zephyr Express lift. The amenities, cleanliness and location are all extremely important but there are equally essential factors Steve describes which make a family ski vacation a memorable occasion. With a positive working relationship with the prospective guest I, as an independent owner am able to take the time to provide insider information related to the qualities of the ski trails, shops, restaurants and activites that only locals know about. These are the "Tips and Tricks" Steve refers to. Steve says the total experience was "wonderful", everything was exactily as advertised and he "will be back next year in Bruce's condo". He and his family have been able to have a truely enjoyable ski vacation where the memories and shared time will be reminisced for years between family members and friends, exactly what a vacation should provide. Steve's statement that he "will be back next year in Bruce's condo" leads me to state my Owner's cautionary warning: Once you have stayed at Slopeside nothing else will do. Remember, this condo can be an addictive experience.

Great time in WP

We had a wonderful experience working with Bruce. He had detailed instructions about the complex, getting keys, etc... The condo was clean and well organized with all the necessary cooking supplies. You can ski out of the building as advertised. The free shuttle service offered by the complex is fantastic. It took us to the grocery store, restaurants, shopping, cross country ski trails, etc.... I recommend checking it out!

Owner's Response: Jennifer presents direct and enthusiastic statements regarding her family's "great time" at my condo. Without a doubt a good part of her enthusiasm is related to the premier location on the mountain which allows for easy and quick access to the Zephyr Express Lift, the main lift going up the mountain and the ease of returning to her condo for meals and family time. She states appreciation of the cleanliness of my condo and the fact that it is well organized with important cooking supplies. These are all concrete statements which are based on her awareness of the high quality amenities, towels, linens and supplies of special items found only in an extremely limited number of condos. These include an infrared grill, slow cooker, safety grab bars in the shower and a welcome basket for children who arrive hungry. However, it is in truth more than just the physical items, it's what the items I provide communicate to Jennifer. She experiences that she is being taken care of and cared for. She is supported in her efforts to provide a ski vacation for those she loves, just like she feels at home. She assesses that her family had a, "wonderful experience" and she's happy and thankful for that. Although she doesn't mention it specifically this wonderful experience began when she first contacted me and I responded to her personally because I engage with the prospective guest in a calm and informative manner. I'm not sitting in a work station with a quota over my head. I have time to provide important information regarding the special qualities of the various ski trails and how to access them, outside the Resort activities, restaurants and intricacies of the shuttle service which can provide yet another supportive service. I am pleased to have been an element in what Jen says is a, "Great time at Winter Park and her Wonderful Experience". This is exactly what the "package" of my condo and I seek to do, to meet the expectations of our guests and hopefully exceed them. The convenience of the slopes gives valuable time for meaningful family ingagement because the time is spent enjoying each other and the skiing instead of standing in crowded long lines in a ski lodge waiting for a table. Meaningful memories are therefore formed by these interactions which will be shared by family and friends for years. That's what I hope to achieve. However, I must include an owner's cautionary statement: Once you've stayed Slopeside nothing else will do!

There is no "pet fee". No pets are allowed as per Zephyr Mountain Lodge Management. $65 cleaning charge is included in the rental fee. The underground parking charge of $14 per night is an additional charge to be paid by you as you enter and your credit card is charged when you exit at departure. The $200 damage deposit may be included with the last payment.
