Beautiful Home on 1/2 acre Property with own private driveway. Large manicured Lawn faces Swimming Lagoon directly in front of Property. Year round sunsets can be enjoyed from the Deck and yard. Old style barbecue with picnic tables is located right next to the beach. Giant Ironwood trees give shaded relief from the warm beach just steps away.

The Owners have had the property for 45 years; building this house 12 years ago. The pride of owning such a jewel is reflected in the excellent condition of the home and property.

This was our third time here….we never tire of coming to this wonderful place! It’s a very comfortable house that is just steps from the beach. Mark, Nancy and Snoopy couldn’t be more welcoming and wonderful. We already booked for next year while sitting on the deck looking out on the ocean.

Great stay for our little group. This is a great set up for kids with the beach right there. Warm and friendly hosts and neighbors. Gecko friends too!

Overall impression was jaw-dropping! The pictures do not do it justice! It's much bigger and spacious in person, even with six adults and a one-year-old. The rooms were clean and accommodating, with large fans. The place felt so peaceful and private.The main selling point was having a beach literally in your backyard, which made it hard to get out and see the rest of the island. Sitting out under the sun and the ocean breeze was truly a slice of heavenly paradise! Ted’s Bakery, the grocery store, and restaurants/food trucks are only a 15-minute drive away!We're lucky to see some sea turtles pop up in our backyard, and if you want to get a closer look at the reef, there are some nice snorkeling gear included! Mark and his dog, Snoopy, were incredibly warm, welcoming, kind, and friendly! We enjoyed their hospitality during our stay.

Great bungalow on the beach!

Beautiful location on the beach. Plenty of room inside and out. Mark and Nancy were outstanding hosts! Great recommendations for lunch and dinner. We ate at the house for our breakfasts. The beach is quiet and right off the property. The private drive is tucked away but very easy to get in and out of. We would definitely love to stay here again!

Amazing stay

Terrific house, hosts, and location. House was bigger than thought, right on an almost private beach, and with all necessary amenities. Mark, Nancy, and Snoopy were phenomenal hosts: very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable without ever being intrusive. Location was great for exploring the north shore and being away from touristy Honolulu, while still close enough to everything for an easy drive, even in Honolulu. Of all the places we’ve stayed, our favorite house, hosts, and location. Too much to recommend on a trip here so I just suggest experience it for yourself. Thanks for a tremendous family vacation we will always remember. Mahalo

Had a fantastic stay at Kawela Kai on the beach! The view and access to the ocean was amazing. We had turtles right next to us while swimming! House had everything that we needed and then some! If you are looking for a comfortable home to rest your head between activities, this is the place for you.

Wonderful location

Very comfortable home in a beautiful spot right on the ocean. The house was comfortable and clean. It was not huge, but comfortable for 6 adults. One of the bedrooms had a curtain divider for one of the walls, but it was not a problem for our group. The room was still private enough. The lanai was peaceful and private with great views, and our new little friend, Snoopy, greeted us there every morning.

Mark is the BEST!!! He is such a great host, so helpful, cheerful and his side kick Snoopy is perfect. The beach house is wonderful. Lots of essentials that were so helpful: beach towels, beach chairs, laundry detergent, a stocked bathroom closet, kitchen essentials complete with coffee. I cannot say enough. This is the most beautiful place to stay. Big thanks to Mark and Snoopy for everything.

Always a Great Stay!

This was my family’s second visit to Mark’s house on the North Shore of Oahu. Wonderful house with a huge lanai overlooking beach and ocean. Just a few steps from house down to a very private, secluded beach. House is clean and comfortable. Mark (and constant companion dog Snoopy) were there to welcome us when we arrived and checked in with us daily to see if we had any needs. We had a wonderful 10 day vacation amongst the best surfing beaches in the world. Best vacation rental in Hawaii I have ever stayed in and we hope to be back next year!

A Perfect Stay

We loved our week at Kawela Kai. The location has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely incredible. The house has everything you need for a family and the kitchen is well equipped. Mark was an amazing host and we really enjoyed talking with him and learning about the history of the area and his adventures. We can't wait to come back.

Perfect For Us

My husband and I traveled to the North Shore from the San Juan Islands in Washington state with our daughter and my sister. We are both having serious health issues and needed their help to be able to vacation. We loved the view, smell and sound of the ocean whether sitting on the deck, on the lawn or on the beach. The ocean is accessible when surf is down and tide low with a wonderful pool to swim in. The house is stocked with anything you could possibly need but we brought a lot of meals home to eat in our beautiful setting. The location is ideal between Turtle Bay, Kuhuku and Laie for good eats or Sunset and Haleiwa. We went both directions for plate lunches, shrimp, burgers, and shave ice. There are also a Foodland and Longs both directions. Mark and Nancy are welcoming, accessible, and a wealth of history on island living. We will gladly stay here again!

Wonderful family vacation

Quaint Beach Bungalow

Quaint bungalow right on the beach. Excellent location! Although it was big wave season (February), we were able to plunge directly in front of the property, and Kawela Bay was a 10 min walk away for swimming and hiking. A short drive to the big wave surfing beaches. Amazing sunsets and whale sightings right from the lanai. Communication was great. Mark and Snoopy were wonderful hosts!

Great Place To Stay

Met up with friends to enjoy the North Shore. The property was located off the highway and on the beach. We spent time chilling on the lanai watching waves, sunrises, sunsets, walks on the beach. Good location for short road trips, close to Waimea Bay and Pipe Line where we watched surf competitions. Also close to restaurants and Polynesian Cultural Center. The house, property, and location was perfect for our North Shore experience. As far as hosts go, Mark and Nancy are the best.

Great location right on the north shore beach

We loved staying at Kawela Kai. The beach, views, ocean swimming were all within 30 steps of the lanai (gorgeous deck). All our everyday stresses were removed from our souls. Mark and Snoopy were very friendly. Loved the stay. theknowledgeable
