Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Den South II the first week of December 2012. Your place has a great location with a spectacular view. The whirlpool would be enjoyable anytime of the year, unfortunately we were running all the time, and could not take advantage of it.

It offers so many options in and around the area for example, entertainment, shopping, hiking, biking and horseback riding. In just ten minutes or less you can be at any of the above activities. We had a great stay!

Thank you,

Well equiped

The parking is bad if you drive a truck. No turn around space. The couch has not been replaced

Owner's Response: We are sorry you didn't like the cabin. The couch has been repaired. Unfortunately, we are located on the side of the mountain so there is only room for two vehicles. It is very tight. Thank you for your feedback.

Spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

This is great location with views of the mountains. House has beautiful decor and is perfect for a family trip with adult children. Two floors gives each family their own living space. The house is located close to Pigeon Forge with easy access to the main roads. Our family had a great time and would highly recommend.

Decent

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is spacious and has a fabulous view. It also passed my barefoot test; it was clean. Of course you have to go up the mountain for the view and there is limited parking; 2 vehicles, 3 at best if they're smaller and you get creative. The house is a little dated. The only really negative thing was the furniture. The mattresses were SOOOO uncomfortable and the couch has seen better days; if you sit on the edge you're sitting on a metal bar. I would stay there again if they got new furniture; but I'm a stickler for a comfy bed and a good night's rest!

Owner's Response: We are very sorry you do not like the beds. We have not had any complaints prior to yours regarding the king beds and bunkbeds. The couch was fixed after your stay. I am having friends pf ours check the beds this weekend. Thank you for letting us know. Sincerely, Liz and Paul

Beautiful view, with a few issues

  • 4 of 5

The view on this property is absolutely as beautiful or more than it looks in the pictures. The rooms are very nice, though there is a temperature differential between the two floors- easily dealt with by blankets or fans. Providing the shampoo and body wash is a nice touch. The kitchen is a little limited on cabinet space but has all the basics. It's a beautiful location and made a nice base to come back to each day, as we were out most of the time enjoying the area. Overall, we were happy with our stay; however, there were a few issues.

I understand now the reviews that complained about the couch- the seat cushions have no support, they collapse down into the couch, and the front frame digs into your legs. It seems this could be easily remedied by replacing the foam in the cushions. There was no laundry soap provided but the owners ask that you wash the kitchen towels (which seems odd, since the bath towels are not washed by the guest). We ran out of all paper products and dish soap but were near the end of our stay so just got our own. The second night we were there we discovered that basically all the plates had been put away dirty (with dried bits of food stuck to them). I shared all of this with the owner as we were checking out and was surprised to get no response. It seemed very odd to get charged a $100 cleaning fee, but still need to do laundry and clean the floors- which presumably someone was then going to walk all over while they did the actual cleaning that the fee was for?

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed the cabin. Thank you for your feedback on the couch. We have tried to fix it once however, based on your review we will be looking at another couch. We did inform the cleaning team about the dishes and lack of laundry soap. Sincerely, Liz and Paul

Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family loved the cabin and view! The cabin was beautiful! It was larger than we expected for price and very clean. Being close to town the views were gorgeous from the two balconies! This cabin is well maintained. It was well-stocked with movies, TVs in every room with cable, a small game room, hot-tub and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots and pans, plates, bowls and utensils. Can’t go wrong with this choice.

The cabin is maybe ten minutes from town and was an easily run back and forth to town.

We made a quick dinner and enjoyed the balcony in the evening. We enjoyed the hot-tub and the kids were in heaven. I was a pleasure to say at the cabin. “Peace & Quiet”

I would definitely recommend this cabin, great views, well-maintained in a great location. It has it all.

We will be coming back again next vacation in the area. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Enjoyable Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying in the cabin. The view is beautiful. The location is close to Pigeon Forge with easy access to the amenities there. We found the cabin to be well equipped. One previous review had warned about the cookware but that has been remedied as there was new cookware for our use.

The parking is an issue with limited space for two vehicles. Overall, we would return to this cabin in the future for our vacation time!
