About Melody Gilbertson

My mom and I have been running our cabin rentals for several years. We do our own cleaning and like to meet our guests personally. The income from the cabin has enabled me to be a stay at home mom when my girls were little, and I pray that our guests are blessed by experiencing a little piece of heaven here in peaceful Townsend!

Why Melody Gilbertson chose Townsend

Townsend is my hometown and is the most beautiful place in the world! My parents encouraged me to buy the property and build the Hideout before I got married and started a family, and boy am I glad they did! I was able to bring my daughters with me to clean the cabin and still be a stay-at-home mom! I will forever be grateful for those years. God has blessed us with the Hideout and we pray it's a blessing to all of our guests.

Great cabin, great location, great amenities

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for a few days while visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park and it was the best place we stayed on our family vacation. The location is very close to the Townsend entrance of the park, but is in a quiet area north of Cades Cove that is not bustling with tourists. The cabin itself is extremely clean, well-maintained, and inviting. Everything they said would be included was there, including towels, linens (and extra linens), paper towels, coffee filters, etc. In addition there were several extra amenities that were there, either provided by the hosts or left by prior guests, that made the experience even more comfortable. There are two bedrooms with full beds plus a large living area with two futons and a generous sized kitchen, so for a family of four it felt like a luxurious amount of space. Good cellphone reception and also free wifi. Checking in and out was very easy and our kids even got visited by two friendly dogs who I assume live with the owners at their house adjacent (but not too close) to the cabin. Overall it was a very positive experience, a good value for the price we paid, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area and have a peaceful place to rest and relax.

Charming quite but not too far out

  • 5 of 5

The property was amazing! We loved the quiet peaceful nature of The Hideout! The cabin was stocked with everything you would need for a home away from home. The weather was a little rough but that was part of the charm as well. The thunderstorms sounded magical on the tin roof.

We absolutely loved our stay and hope to stay again!!

Clean, quiet cabin holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Hideout cabin for the month of March and just loved it! It was very clean and comfortable for our stay. Close to Townsend yet tucked away in the quiet and peaceful. Cabin had everything we needed including wifi. Easy to do day trips to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg and even Knoxville. Tahnee was super nice and very responsive during our stay. We’d love to return to this cabin.

Great quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my wife were looking to have a nice quiet weekend away from work and kids. This cabin was absolutely perfect. Tucked back off the road but still close to town. The cabin was clean and we couldn’t ask for anything more. We can’t wait to book here again.
