About the property

In observance of the on-going California drought and Big Bear water restrictions, Lil Green Bear Cabin's taking the spring/summer off this year (2017) in it's front yard flower bed and lush green grass that is shown in our photo's and our repeat guests are used to enjoying. We have replaced that look with more appropriate "Natural Mountain Landscaping", we hope to be back watering next year. We apologize!

INTRODUCING LIL' GREEN BEAR CABIN! A short term private home rental legally registered with the county of San Bernardino as such. Look closely at the property photo's, expand them for a closer look, compare the photo's with any and every other 2 bedroom cabin you are considering and decide for yourself, consider the grounds of the property as well, you are not going to just sit in the cabin your entire visit!! Carefully read each and every one of VRBO's authenticated reviews on the cabin, WE ARE PROUD TO BE THE RECIPIENTS OF A 98% 5 STAR RATING PERCENTAGE AND ONE OF JUST A FEW VRBO LISTINGS GARNERING THE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER "WONDERFUL" STATUS!!

If your coming to Big Bear, come stay in Classic Mountain Log cabin living, not simple suburban architecture, YOU CAN GET THAT DOWN THE HILL! Lil' Green Bear Cabin has often been described as something right out of a fairy tale or childhood fable! A mountain log cabin that delivers exactly what it shows. Come experience Big Bear the way it's supposed to be experienced, a classic log cabin, mountain decor and perfect grounds, seclusion, away from the crowds. Lil Green Bear Cabin awaits and NEVER disappoints!

LIL' GREEN BEAR CABIN, a 1000sf Sierra Style Log Cabin sits quietly nestled just 3 short blocks from the San Bernardino National Forest, 2 miles from the lake & amazing hiking trails, 3 miles from shopping, 4 miles from the slopes and 6 miles from the village! Away from the tourist buses of Big Bear Lake. Big Bear City gives you a chance to truly get away and live like the mountain locals for the weekend? A refreshing walk around the block is an experience in itself, one that you won't forget! There is a maximum capacity of 4 adults (up to 2 additional children are fine).

Completely renovated in 2009 with a brand new roof installed in July of 2017, floor to ceiling knotty pine with 12 inch exposed strewn logs running through the living room ceiling, a classic Maltby fireplace, 2 nicely sized bedrooms with King & Queen beds sitting on rustic, log bed frames. A nice sized single bathroom, but please note there is no bath tub. For the folks who have a little trouble relaxing and need to stay close to the office, the cabin is equipt with a 30mbtys, broadband, wireless WIFI router, so the laptop/tablet can stay handy! The mountain theme decor has been praised by countless reviews (visitors). Fully stocked large CHEFS KITCHEN complete with absolutely everything you need to whip up any meal and something rarely found in smaller cabins up here: A REAL KITCHEN TABLE with high back leather dining room chairs! Custom made of reclaimed pine and large enough to seat 6. On so many occasions this is not the case, you are forced to sit on bar stools or TV trays while sitting in the living room!! A custom made, brand new leather pull out sectional, 42 inch LCD television with a basic Charter cable package (another 36 inch LCD mounted in the master bedroom for the romantic couple who want to stay in bed all day while the wind blows and/or snow falls). Enjoy a glass of wine while snuggling in front of the large, maltby style fireplace on a chilly night while the avocado wood crackles.

The grounds are again well noted throughout the reviews, so many massive pine & evergreen trees on the property and 2 of the most perfect 40 foot Holiday trees ever sit in the front yard! Really special! The front yard is professionally landscaped with the most beautiful summer flower beds around, that's right an actual front yard for the kids to play.(SUMMER ONLY*SEE POSSIBLE NOTES FOR DESERT LANDSCAPING "NO GRASS/FLOWERS" TO ADHERE TO WATER RESTRICTIONS) The back yard is a park like setting, completely fenced in for piece of mind with the little ones (kids) with some very cute decorative pieces that again are fantastic for children. This cabin is extremely kid friendly! Two great porches/decks, the front porch gives you that classic experience of sitting out on 2 great redwood adarondak chairs and simply enjoy the peace and quite, while star gazing into the renown star-lit Big Bear sky. The back deck comes with a large circular redwood table & chairs and a large BBQ/Smoker (propane) for you guys who think you can get busy on the grill! You can go out for dinner anytime, but starting up the grill on a chilly night in a mountain log cabin with a bottle of Red wine while the steaks that's a city get-a-way and a priceless memory you won't forget.

The property is motion sensor lit (front and back yard/driveway) for late night arrivals, a proper freshly slurred, asphalt driveway, not gravel or dirt, which handles up to 3 vehicles. We have put our heart into this cabin and are very proud of it. It is professionally managed from bedding to towels it will be delivered to you in spotless condition with all the clean, fresh conveniences of home. We have a 8 year old son so again we pride ourselves on the cabin being kid friendly whether it be the lil back yard 'play park', the horse shoe pit or front yard circular grass play track, we have thought of everything to assure you that upon the completion of your stay you will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The greatest compliment we have ever received was in a review one of your guests posted in the spring of 2012 (see review section) simply stating that 'This is not like staying in a rental cabin at all, but more like staying at a friends home!'

We proudly offer you....... LIL GREEN BEAR CABIN!

About Randelle Green

'The Green's' of Lil' Green Bear Cabin! Randelle, Gabriela and Dakota James. Gabby and I met in Los Angeles in November of 2005 and were married on Maui (Hana) on October 10th, 2010 (10/10/10). We have a 8 year old son named Dakota James who absolutely loves the cabin. Gabriela is a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. I am a Real Estate Broker running 2 Brokerages, one in the LA area as well as Big Bear.. We love spending time together, traveling, Hawaii, Solvang (wine country) and escaping to the mountains every chance we get. We love our lil piece of the mountain and know you will too!

May God Bless You,

Randelle Green

Randelle Green purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Randelle Green chose Big Bear

It has been a dream of my wife and I to own a log cabin up in the mountains of Southern California, so in 2010 we purchased Lil Green Bear cabin. We enjoyed it ourselves for the first couple years and just now (1/25/2012) have decided to put the cabin into the vacation rental market. We have made sure the cabin has all the conveniences of home. It is our goal to build a reputable business out of sharing our lil piece of the mountain with others. We are well aware that rental homes are built on referrals and we hope each and every guest is more than satisfied and will keep coming back for more. Enjoy your stay at Lil Green Bear Cabin!!

What makes this cabin unique

What really sets Lil Green Bear Cabin apart is the front and back yard space! Professionally landscaped in the summer/spring allow the most beautiful flowers to blossom. The property sits back to allow an actual front yard for the kids to play, which is also fenced (log) to create boundaries. We have a 9 yr old and for him to be outside running around the front yard where we can watch him from the redwood adarondak chairs on the porch is priceless. The same goes for the backyard, a totally enclosed back yard 'play park'. People forget to think about the grounds of the property, who wants to stay inside all day, you come up the mountain for the fresh air and to feel the altitude. Parking is excellent at the cabin, something not always the case. A traditional black asphalt drive way allows you to park conveniently as opposed to some gravel pull up area! Motion sensor lights in the front and back make it safe, and simple for late night check ins. Try finding your way to a new address and foreign place in the pitch black! Dining room, again so many 2 bedroom cabins don't have one, just some bar stools or even worse TV trays for your dinner. LGB has a traditional custom made dining table which comfortably sits 6, it is made from reclaimed pine. The bedrooms are surprisingly large with actual sitting areas, classic mountain log bed frames. The inside was completely remodeled in 2010 with a wide open floorplan, chefs kitchen, and 12 inch (width) exposed logs running through the living room ceiling. A wonderful maltby fireplace. The unique benefits to this 1,000sf 2 bedroom cabin are endless. We simply encourage you to compare the photo's, inside and out, read ALL reviews, VRBO is a legitimate service. And the pictures tell it all.

Sweet little getaway spot

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Lil Green Bear Cabin! What a cozy little place , perfect for my husband and two small children. The owners were very accomodating and quick to answer all my questions about the property and general area. The house itself was very clean with nice woodsy decor which added to the feeling of our mountain vacation. The surrounding area was also nice, as my daughter and son loved exploring the nearby woods. I would highly reccommend staying here, and definitely plan on coming back again soon.

Wonderfully Kept Property!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Lil Green Bear Cabin! The cabin was clean, well cared for and had everything we needed for our mountain get-away! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the cabin decor was so appreciated. The owner's, Randelle and Gabriela were so receptive throughout the reservation process and we appreciated that. The cabin photo's on the VRBO site were accurate and reflective of our expectations with the exception of the front yard flower and grass (which via the cabin description gave us the heads up on). We especially enjoyed the grounds, a super back deck and bbq which we enjoyed late into the evening and the front yard porch with the two Adirondack chairs made hanging out and looking up the mountain really nice! The little touches clinched this cabin experience for us, like the solar flood lights in both the front and back of the property which gave us a nice touch of security. We are already planning our next trip to Lil Green Cabin, we like all the others will be back.

Not as nice as I had hoped.

  • 3 of 5

First I would like to say that this was our first trip to Big Bear. This was also the first time we used VBRO. I guess it is customary to haul your own trash away in this area. The other thing to be aware of is if it is summer this cabin does NOT have a/c. It was unseasonably warm when we were there. These were inconvenient but not the reason for the lower rating. I am not sure when the pictures were taken but the cabin needs a little more love. I did speak to the owner and share with him my concerns and photos. First impression was "natural desert landscape" AKA dead yard, not the beautiful green in the pictures. Again not a deal breaker as it has been very dry in So Cal. The awnings paint was chipped and peeling. On the inside the cabin was cleaned of clutter but cobwebs in many corners, closets as well as the lamp next to the bed. The living room was clean with decent furniture. Inside many of the closets had dark marks where the housekeepers did not vacuum inside. Next to the bed in the master bedroom was a large pile of dust bunnies, maybe? The kitchen cabinets had not been wiped down in a very long time with expired food dating back as far as 2012. Yes there were cobwebs on them as well. We killed three spiders inside the cabin in the 5 nights we spent here. We could not get all of the burners on the stove to work. The countertops are an old white tile with dirty grout. The shower had discolored grout that look like mold to me. The gutters were full of debris and the patio furniture in the front and back was full of cobwebs. The paint on the cabin is also peeling in the back. When I spoke to the owner on 9/4 he said...

"The cabin had a brand new "hunter green" roof installed just 3 weeks ago, is scheduled to have new flooring to replace the aging carpet as well as a fresh coat of paint this fall."

His response to the spiders was..."Again the summer cob webs are everywhere in every mountain home up here. We have many friends that fight that fight as well. They seem to appear overnight."

On the plus side Big Bear was great! We had great food and adventures.

Owner's Response: With Lil Green Bear Cabin receiving 86 authenticated reviews to date, 83 being a perfect 5-Star and 3 being 4-Star, we are very disappointed and somewhat confused as to what compelled this first-time visitor to Big Bear to “nit-pick” our adorable cabin to death. To focus on such issues as cobwebs OUTSIDE in a mountain setting, evaluate expiration dates on a single pasta box and seasonings left behind in an otherwise empty kitchen as well as SEARCH out closet corners for more cobwebs is truly questionable. I must address her point of taking trash with you after check-out, it is clearly stated to do so in the agreement which she signed off on prior to the visit and standard for mountain guests, additionally A.C is not something that is listed on our cabin description, with the cool mountain climate, I know of very few owners that even have AC. This guest was well aware of both of these points before selecting our cabin. There is no mold in our shower and/or bathroom, to imply so is irresponsible and inflammatory. Lil Green Bear Cabin’s many, many review’s singling out the cleanliness of the cabin would certainly refute this guest’s odd comments. Lastly, the cabin’s photos are current and accurate, it clearly states in our cabin description that in observance of the California water shortage we would not feature our flower beds and lawn that our guests are accustomed to, but would feature “desert landscaping”. For this guest to call natural mountain topography and pine needles “dead grass” is again inaccurate and highly suspect. We find it very strange this guest did not contact us during her 5 night visit with any of these issues and we can only guess and have a good idea as to her motives for this 3 Star review.

Absolutely fabulous

  • 5 of 5

Lil Green Bear Cabin is beautiful inside and out. We had a most comfortable and enjoyable 4 day 3 night stay there. Only wish we would have had more time to kick back and relax in and around the cabin and the Big Bear area. Without hesitation I highly recommend this property.
