Relax in our 4200 square foot Mountain House -style waterfront home right on tranquil Lake Hartwell, 25 minutes from Clemson, 90 minutes from Atlanta and 45 minutes from Greenville. Nestled on one full acre of woods and rolling lawns, this home feels totally secluded yet is a simple drive from Atlanta, Charlotte, or Greenville. The house is designed by a Colorado Mountain House architect and provides the true away-from-the-city feel. Aside from the standard new home features, the house offers large windows and decks overlooking the back yard & lake, a private covered boat dock, an 6-person hot tub, a pool table and an oversize master bedroom suite taking up the entire 3rd level of the house. Also, be sure to try the new, custom fire-pit deck with a 42-inch fire pit at the edge of the yard overlooking the lake (see photos). ALSO NEW IN 2016 – all bathrooms and kitchen have been remodeled.
This three story home has a combination of hardwood floors and carpet, rich wood ceilings and interior finish (like a hunting lodge), comfortable furniture (and rocking chairs), a modern, spacious kitchen with island, and three stone fire places. Each level has a full bathroom, and a TV and DVD player equipped with DirecTV. The main level houses two bedrooms, each with queen beds, the main living room area overlooking the lake through a wall of windows, the kitchen and dining room. The first floor (basement) has two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one for the kids with two twin beds), a large bathroom, sofa seating area and plenty of room for playing games or lounging. A big screen TV overlooks a full size billiards table and card table and leather chairs, surrounded by a stone fireplace on one side and a wall of French doors opening to the lower deck and the back yard. The third floor houses a large master bedroom /bathroom suite, sitting area, small office area and stone fireplace all overlooking the large façade of windows. The master bathroom has a gorgeous vintage clawfoot tub and walk-in shower.
A quick walk down hill through the back yard and using steps (next to the fire pit deck), you will find a private covered dock, where you can easily tie up a boat if you bring one (deep water cove). You'll enjoy spending the entire day on and around the dock and swimming in this quiet cove away from the wind, waves and boat traffic. Note that the last portion of the walk to the dock can be steep and requires caution, particularly if the water level if low!

For those interested in attending CLEMSON GAMES, the stadium is about a 25 minute drive from the house. For groceries and standard city amenities, Anderson, SC is just 20 minutes north of the house near Clemson University. NOTES re WiFi and Trash: Because of the location, this house does NOT have WiFi or Trash Pickup Service. However, the major cellular carriers (except Tmobile) have excellent reception at the house and we use Cellular Hot Spots for internet access. I would say I'm somewhat of a non-conformist... I've worked hard in my life, but I'm now focusing on creating memorable experiences with friends and family that I can ultimately share with my Grand Kids! As such, I travel and recreate a lot and have gotten a serious head start on my 'bucket list'. My main hobbies include travel, health /fitness, kite surfing, cooking and reading.

Why Owner chose Fair Play
Only 90-minutes north of my home in Atlanta, I can easily and spontaneously access the lake house.
What makes this House unique
The home offers the following main benefits: --while only 2 miles from the highway, the house is very secluded, peaceful and quiet --the style and architecture are very soothing and appropriate for the wooded lakefront setting --true relaxation whether boating, sitting in the hot tub, in a rocking chair or in front of the fire --quality time with friends and family

A relaxing NYE
I rented this house with a group of my friends for a new year's eve get away. The home is very well appointed and extremely comfortable. Given that it was a cold wintery weekend; the fireplaces and outdoor fire pit added to our enjoyment. The number of large windows in the living room provides great lake views. There was plenty of space for everyone in our group. I highly recommend this property and plan to return soon.
Perfect for Thanksgiving
Really enjoyed this property for an extended family Thanksgiving. Older folks upstairs, younger folks playing pool and music downstairs, evenings at the firepit by the lake. House was very well equipped with everything we needed to have a grand meal.
Will definitely consider in the future.
Great House for 10. Great View, private setting.
The house is comfortable for a family gathering or collection of friends. Plenty to keep everyone entertained.
Return trip just as nice as the first time!
This was our second trip to the lake house in Fair Play, SC, and the house and setting were just as terrific as the first time. Bryan (owner) is very easy to work with, makes sure everything is clearly understood and removes doubt and worry. The home is beautiful, well-equipped, and we'd stay again in a heartbeat. Only caveat is that you should hear the owner well when he says no wifi - you're in a lake house in the woods. Bring your own hot spot device. Our Verizon MiFi worked perfectly. It is a steep slope from the house to the water, so might not be the best spot if you are at risk of falling. For our family of six kids plus one son-in-law, it is perfect. Highly recommend!
The property was better than we ever expected. Beautiful home in a great setting with everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
A beautiful home with a kind owner.
We rented this place to evacuate from Irma and the owner was very accommodating. I can't recommend it enough.
