Why Jennifer Visitacion chose Salida

Salida is at the heart of Colorado and after purchasing this wonderful property we decided that we could not keep it to ourselves. We chose to list our cottage as a rental so that we could share with others the calm we feel when we are here.

What makes this cottage unique

Moonstone Retreat cottage offers a great feeling of calm and privacy and yet is still only a 2-minute drive to downtown Salida. The wonderful bonus is the ease of hopping on a bike and arriving at our favorite coffee shops, restaurants and shops in a just matter of minutes from leaving the cottage front door. After a day of mingling with friendly town folk, unwinding riverside out the cottage back door is a perfect way to spend a wonderful Salida day.

Cozy, comfortable place to stay.

We loved this little cabin getaway. Location was awesome. Had everything we needed to make it a home base. Having the river in backyard was incredible. We saw deer there every morning and evening...awesome experience. Overall this place give you a place to relax and unwind but still be close to everything.

Cute, clean and well thought out.

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is very cute, clean, quiet and quaint. The kitchen was perfect for cooking for 2. Everything one needs to cook and serve was provided, from a corkscrew to salt and pepper. Bed upstairs was clean and very comfortable, as well as good lighting, fans and light. Would love to own a little cottage like this! Definitely would recommend to any couple or small family to enjoy. Owner very responsive to requests and prompt.

We enjoyed our stay in this cute farmhouse on the river in Salida. It was close to everything yet felt secluded. Everything was just right!

Cozy, yet spacious; luxurious yet rustic; close to everything, yet seemingly secluded . . .Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into the renovation of this little cottage down to the last decorating and functional detail, like instant warmth from the heater on a cool fall day, great water pressure, a sumptuous bath mat under your toes when you step out of your shower, and the kind of fluffy bedding that makes you think twice about getting out of bed in the morning to enjoy all of the great activities this area has to offer.

If you happen to ban cooking from your vacation list of things to do, like we did, the best breakfast in town is a short walk down the road to Patio Pancakes. If you'd rather enjoy the sparkling river running by, the grill is just outside your back door, with stream-side chairs and tables on the lawn umbrellad by the towering cottonwood trees. And the host offers coffee, tea, and, yes, even real Half&Half in the fridge for that decadent touch.

As a decorator, I always think about how I would design things differently, but here, hardly a thing would change. Lovely cottage; quality stay; book it if you can!
