Special Cabin -Close to Yellowstone w/ Remote Setting

Half Baths1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Great Log Cabin with views, 1 Bedrm, 1.5 Baths, Sleeps 4 w/ King & 2 Twins

Perched on a ridge overlooking Tom Miner basin to the South and Rock Creek to the North, the Flying K is a hospitable cabin getaway designed for the discerning guest.

Sit on the porch and watch deer or elk cross the meadow to drink at a spring on the property; keep your balcony door open at night and listen to the coyotes howl as they greet the moon; the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors is as wild as your imagination.

With such near proximity to the Yellowstone river, National Forest land and a multitude of activities from horseback riding to kayaking, the Flying K makes a splendid headquarters for a Summer vacation for the outdoor minded.

Or... If you just want to get away from it all, there's no better location than the 'last best place' as Montana is often referred to! The site of the cabin will provide you with as much solace as you desire, aside from some 4 footed characters who share the backyard.

The location is ideal. Less than an hour from Gardiner, Montana, the NE entrance to Yellowstone National Park, an hour drive from Livingston and just 1.5 hours from the Bozeman airport puts you at the center of some beautiful country with many choices.

The cabin was totally remodeled Spring of 2012, so everything is in great shape and ready to host the discerning guest.

The wi-fi is fast enough to accommodate VOIP for communication or Verizon is the best mobile phone vendor for the area.

The upstairs has a king size bed and then a trundle bed with extra long twin and regular twin. A crib is available upon request.

A four wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended as it is 8 miles up a Forest Service Road to access the property.

Keywords: Mountain Views with hiking & biking trails. Quick access to fishing, kayaking, rafting and Yellowstone Park. A special spot on a secluded lot bordering National Forest Land.

About Tamara Libbey

I was raised on an island in the middle of the Yellowstone River & grew up loving & appreciating the scenery, wildlife and activities that are part of the wonder-fullness of living in such beautiful country.

After leaving the state for work, I continued to return home & then, we had the opportunity to purchase property & build a cabin which we enjoy at different times throughout the year.

It is a pleasure to get to share our beautiful backyard with others.

Tamara Libbey purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Tamara Libbey chose Emigrant

We have a cabin in the area

What makes this cabin unique

I enjoy the solitude & sense if being away from it all, while knowing if I want or need, civilization is only about 45 minutes away.

The beauty of the area just envelopes you & makes it difficult to leave. The light changes throughout the day & from the early rays of the sunrise to the alpine glow preceding nightfall it provides constant delight.

Sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife that abounds in the area is always fun. Watching the deer as they change from full velvet to knotty racks always brings a smile.

Remote and quiet cabin.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Flying K. Todd was very helpful with instructions and local information. The day we arrived it was 86 degrees and warm and dry. The morning we left 6 days later, there was almost a foot of snow on the ground. The coyotes were quite musical and close by a few times and we heard elk bugling in the distance.

The whole cabin is nice but for me it was so great to have a well-stocked pantry and decent quality cooking equipment. Thanks.

We actually chose to hang around locally instead of doing the Yellowstone crowds. We hiked the Rock Creek Trail one day and we went into Bozeman another day.

Fantastic from beginning to end

Words cant really describe how special this place is. There is truly no other place in the world like montana and the flying K is a great place to experiece it. Thank you tamara for everything-including your reccomendation on where to grizzly watch.

The cabin is decorated beautifully, kitchen is fully stocked and has everything you need to make gourmet meals to enjoy under the stars. If you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway- look no further. Our stay at the flying K allowed us some rest and relaxation and really inmersed us in nature. We enjoyed many hikes around the property, animal watching and reading in the hammock, stargazing- smores and wine by the fire. We ate breakfast and dinner al fresco everyday and took in the indescribable scenery. We watched scary movies late night on the Netflix enabled tvs.

The cabin is less than 45 min from the north entrance of Yellowstone. Even though its not the closest to the park-I would not dream of staying anywhere else while visiting Yellowstone again. Very close to chico hot springs and gardiner and livingston are short rides away. Book it- you wont regret it.

We hope to return someday soon<3

Heavenly!! A Special Place on Earth!!

  • 5 of 5

There is a special place on earth where one can refresh the soul and find peace and serenity like nowhere else and come away with great memories, and that place is the Flying K cabin. We booked two stays as new guests in late August (5 nights) and mid-September (7 nights) because we just felt it was going to be incredible and it was!! The beautifully decorated cabin, the breathtaking mountain views, the seclusion & peacefulness, the wildlife, the friendly and efficient caretakers, and the kind and caring owners made it a dream vacation come true on both occasions. We have stayed in several cabins in the Rocky Mountains region, so from personal experience we can say this one is top-notch and there is just no comparison; we would award the Flying K with more than 5 stars if we could. The cabin is on the top of a mountain surrounded by a gorgeous mountain range, so it feels as close to heaven as you can get while enjoying life. As you sit on the deck taking in the spectacular view, watching nature abound before your eyes, and hearing nothing but the sounds of nature, you can't help but feel there is something spiritual about the place. The star-filled night sky was so mesmerizing and then we were fortunate to experience an awe-inspiring full moon in September that lit up the entire landscape. We were amazed at how you can have such a luxury-style cabin with electricity and running water, much less internet and satellite TV, in such a remote location. The cabin and property was very clean and well taken care of by Danyalle and Todd. All you need to bring with you is your clothing, good food and anticipation for a memorable experience. It was so awesome at the cabin that we just could not tear ourselves away, so we only went out for a drive on one day during each of our two stays. We are so grateful to the owners, Tamara and Dennis, for their kindness of sharing their "slice of paradise" with others, like us. Needless to say, we are now "regulars" at the Flying K!! However, now that we've revealed how we really feel, we hope we can get reservations (lol). Oh, and thank you, Tamara and Dennis, for the fine bottle of wine you left for us on our arrival for each visit...we loved it and even made note of the label. Thanks again for everything and see you next year!! -- Lori & Daniel R.
