Great family home

We have stayed at several rental homes in Big Canoe and this was the best location. The house was clean and spacious and perfect for our family vacation.

Great house for Families!

This was the perfect place for our family to spread out considering there were multiple age groups. We enjoyed the home and Big Canoe lake in general. There really was something for everyone.

Fun retreat!

Great place , nicely decorated. Our stay was memorable and a treat! The accommodations were inviting and spacious . The location was exceptional.. close to lake, trails, golf, and shopping. We plan to come back around the holidays.

Family time

Our family enjoyed the home and Big Canoe. With young children, we were able to find some fun hikes that all could manage.

Wonderful Property

This beautiful house was extremely clean, with a beautiful location. We were down for my youngest son’s national race at the Altanta Motorsports Park just 17-20 minutes away. Highly recommend this location.

Nice house and location

We enjoyed our stay at big Canoe and the house. The house was as advertised and the downstairs area was a great get away space. The development is first class and we enjoyed our time there. We will be back.

There were 10 family members.. Ranging in ages from 87 to 3. We absolutely loved the house and the area where it was. Would love to visit again!

After Christmas family trip.

Home was very nice and clean! Big enough for the all of us. We throughly enjoyed hiking the upper and lower falls trail and Amicoloa Falls. Just beautiful and peaceful!

Christmas in Big Canoe

My family of 6 enjoyed 3 nights over Christmas at McDowell Hideaway. We found it to be a spacious, well equipped, quiet and comfortable location. It's close proximity to the North Gate made it easy and quick to get to. There are many outdoor activities available in Big Canoe. We especially enjoyed the hiking trails. We would consider a return visit to Big Canoe and McDowel Hideaway.

McDowell house Getaway

I took my daughters to the McDowell home and we had a blast! It is quiet and private yet close to many fun activities! It's cozy feel felt like we were in another world and the perfect way to enjoy some relaxation and quality family time! It is also spacious so I look forward to planning a girls trip for some fun bonding time! I can't wait!

Great location for us to attend wedding at The Lodge at Old Mill. Everything we needed for extended family ages 24-83. Quick communication with hosts. Property just as pictured.

Amazing Stay!

We had an unforgettable experience this trip! The house was big enough for everyone. Even on a rainy day when we laid low, we all had our own space and didn't get bored and feel on top of each other! The scenery was beautiful, the house was clean, and even though we didn't use the amenities we saw everything the development had to offer and we are going to look into taking another trip in a warmer season to explore the area again!

Great Location in Big Canoe

Easily accommodates 10 family members, would not recommend 12 unless you are bringing your own linens and air mattress. Big Canoe is a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The home is large and nicely furnished. Feedback was provided to the rental company and we have confidence they will make a few easy changes to ensure the next families stay is much more comfortable.

Thank you for staying with us! This lovely home can host 10 overnight guests. This guest contacted us -twice- before coming and asked about bringing 12 guests. *She was told -both- times that this home is set up to host 10 overnight guests, and that 2 extra guests could come (such as children that sleep with their parents) as the house is only set up with sleeping arrangements for 10 guests.* When the guest arrived, she messaged us that she needed extra bed linens and asked for 6. When we were not able to satisfy this request, guest became angry. After checkout, guest messaged us that the house would be more comfortable if it had linens for blowup mattresses. We tried to be clear with the guest and she left the above review when we told her before she booked that the house only had sleeping arrangements for 10 guests. We appreciate you Mena and all our beloved guests- and we are grateful for each of you! :)

Beautiful home

Our group of 9 adults enjoyed our stay. We liked being close to the North Gate, with easy in and out. We enjoyed the trails that were easily accessed near the house. The antiques that decorate the home are lovely. One of the neighbors pointed out some baby bears hanging out up in the tall trees! I recommend the Clubhouse restaurant. It was a beautiful view of the lake as we sat out on the covered porch, and the food was very good.

The property was beautiful and well appointed. It was so peaceful to wake up and open the blinds to what was outside. It has most of what anyone would need for a nice getaway vacation. The start up kits provided helped out a lot too. Thank you for posting accurate information. You get exactly as noted. We will book again if in this area. Ps. Great for hiking and very close to Amicaloa Falls.

Mountain Living

It’s definitely a check off my bucket list. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. The house was comfortably satisfying. Enough room for every guest and even visitors. The stores were conveniently close, especially Walmart. The beds were great. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool and other amenities. Thank you for a wonderful family getaway in the mountains. I will most definitely be back.

Perfect Mountain Weekend

There’s nothing like kicking off a new year with a friends gathering to plan our upcoming year. When I saw online the downstairs conference table I knew this vacation rental was perfect for the six of us ladies. We called the gathering our Mentoring Capstone to discuss the previous year and plan for the next. The rental was beautifully updated and spacious enough for each of us to have our privacy. We have already recommended the rental to others so they, too, can enjoy this mountain home.

Something different

I will say this was something different for our group after we got a chance to settle in and stuff we had a very good time .. Staying here was really nice ,But I really wish the house would’ve been more clean …seriously it needs a major deep cleaning on the outside $ inside spiderwebs where everywhere . ..Even though it was nice over all …home needs A few updates… but it definitely was big enough and I liked that we had someone there we could talk to Mrs.Debra was amazing !!! Our great had a good time

The cabin was very cozy and would be great for a family get together. We only had 3 people stay this time. The front step is really high and is ok for able body people to navigate but could be hard for disabled or Alzheimer patients. We took our person through the garage which had 2 small steps up into the house. It was easier that way so it is not impossible to get them into the home. There is not a ramp of any kind for wheel chair bound people. Other than that it was an amazing stay. The home was cozy, comfortable, clean and roomy. You can play games, watch T.V, eat, and rest in a bedroom without stepping over each other or disrupting each other. Nice deck to take in the outdoor smells and vitamin D. The rooms are decorated nicely. I would recommend this home and will stay here again in the future.
