About the property

2 Bedroom, 1.5 bathroom close to Downtown Square

The Terrace is located in the historic residential area just 2 and a half short blocks from The Historic Downtown Courthouse Square & Whiskey Row. There is a tremendous array of activities at The Square and you are literally only a short 3 to 5 minute walk from The Square and the famous Whiskey Row.

The Terrace was professionally decorated with a romantic French theme in mind. We recently renovated the entire property with new tile, carpet, paint, and wood trim work throughout. When you arrive and walk-out onto The Terrace deck and view Thumb Butte Mountain, immediately all of your stress vanishes!

The outside Terrace Deck is quaint and a fabulous place to relax, barbecue or sit and have a quiet cup of coffee or espresso! Just sit and watch your neighbors stroll the sidewalks of the historic residential area which The Terrace is nestled amongst.

The Terrace is approximately 1,100 square feet with two bedrooms (king size bed in the master bedroom and double bed in the second bedroom), full bath/shower, very large completely stocked kitchen (cook your Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter dinner), nook eating area and living room with new 40' flat screen HDTV, HD cable, and Blu-Ray DVD which enables you to downstream Netflix, since we have high speed WIFI access. The Terrace can easily accommodate two couples or a family of five. Also remember we are pet friendly, so bring the pooch!

Check out our other exceptional properties all within walking distance of downtown! The Artist's Loft (VRBO #336756 our property near historic Park Ave), and The Cottage (VRBO #442389 next to The Terrace and The Townhouse).

About Larry Schmidt

Larry Schmidt, owner of the Terrace, Townhouse, and Cottage, owner of the Artist's Loft welcomes you to his VRBO units. Larry is still working for a company out of Minnesota and travels extensively. He enjoys golf, hiking, and traveling. Larry feels Prescott represents the charm of the West with midwestern values which is illustrated by the community centric Historic Square.

Larry Schmidt purchased this bungalow in 2012

Why Larry Schmidt chose Prescott

I purchased the Terrace and Townhouse in early 2012. I had watched this property over the last several years, and always felt its street appeal and exceptional location were perfect for travelers exploring all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Square has to to offer.

I have invested in substantial renovations to the units, resulting in a romantic French feel in the Terrace and a southwestern feel in the Townhouse. Both units are well suited for one month or longer stays.

This property has been a labor of love, but it is now a shining jewel nestled in the residential historic district. All day long people stroll around the block with their dogs admiring the array of historic and eclectic homes, and the Terrace and Townhouse are a significant part of the area.

What makes this bungalow unique

The uniqueness of this property is the fact that it is like a private home which is so close to all of the activites of the Historic downtown square yet nestled in a quiet well kept neighborhood.

Very Comfortable Townhouse ideally situated within easy walk to town square

  • 5 of 5

This review is for the 2-story Townhouse (Terrace is partially above both Townhouse and adjacent rental The Cottage).

First, the corner situation couldn't be better, as the living room looks out onto 2 of Prescott's picturesque tree-lined streets. With short walk to town square and its many excellent non-chain restaurants we were set for a lazy long week-end, with no car - it stayed conveniently parked in front of the house.

Our stay was a winter stay, and the house stayed nice and toasty all weekend. As advertised, TV had extended cable and Netflix with conformable seating to enjoy it from. Kitchen was well equipped for any meal preparation, although our actual cooking was limited a single cooked breakfast. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were compact and the beds were very conformable. The quirky upstairs room arrangement with a Jack and Jill bathroom worked well to maximize the limited space available for the bedrooms themselves.

Finally, we must thank Larry, the owner. He was without doubt one of the best hosts. When he learned that we had a problem just before we were due to stay, he offered a solution, without us even asking (I would say more but don't want to set any potentially unrealistic expectations from Larry for future). He really made our weekend.

Thanks Larry.

Very nice property

  • 5 of 5

With 3 adults and 2 children we had plenty of room. The upstairs apartment in which we stayed was very clean and well laid out--that is, the bedrooms are away from the living room so some people can sleep while others visit. We never heard any noise from the downstairs unit. The kitchen was fairly well appointed though we didn't cook much while there except for breakfast. There are too many good restaurants around to want to spend my time cooking. It's within easy walking distance to town center. We plan on staying here again during the summer except for a longer period of time.

Great place to relax with family!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Townhouse over the Christmas holiday. We had a blizzard which limited our outdoor activity but this place is very cozy and clean, and we throughly enjoyed out stay with family here. The Townhouse is very bright and has a little outdoor area that is fenced which is helpful when you have a dog. The neighborhood is very cute with many historic homes. We have stayed here before and will continue to come back. Great time!

Cute convenient place close to downtown

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in the terrace, and we have enjoyed both stays. The owner (Larry) is easy to deal with and ensures that your stay is enjoyable. He is quick to address any issues or questions you may have during your stay. The terrace is clean and has new carpet, the kitchen has the basic necessities to prepare simple meals and the beds are comfortable. We will definitely stay here as long as it or one of the other units are available

Very comfortable - great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Townhouse. It is very well located in terms of being able to walk to town and the parking is right in front. The kitchen is small but very workable. The dishwasher is in the wall, which was quite interesting to us. The barbecue is right outside the back door and was great to use. The only thing missing was maybe some spices, but especially salt and pepper. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms well-appointed. We would definitely rent again.

The place was so cute and I absolutely loved staying there! The first night it was my bridesmaids and I! We had the perfect amount of space to get ready in for the big day! The next night us newleyweds were able to get some sleep after a fun filled and special day! It was the perfect place, the pictures do not do it justice ❤️

The star attraction of Prescott is the Historic Downtown Courthouse Square and the famous Whiskey Row. The Courthouse was the original Territorial Capital for Arizona beginning in the 1860s, and Whiskey Row is the site of western saloons and brothels of years past! The Square is the heartbeat of Prescott, where you find a vast variety of boutique and specialty shops, original saloons, locally owned restaurants (including organic only restaurants), local art galleries, museums bars with live music.

In fact virtually every night of the week, you will find at least one bar with live music. On the weekends, you will have a choice of country, classic rock, hard rock, contemporary and jazz music. Starting in the spring going through the early fall, there is musicians during the week at The Square sponsored by the City of Prescott.

Prescott has often been voted one of the top five cities to retire in, but there is a vast array of activities for all ages. Our location easily facilitates day trips to the Grand Canyon of Sedona with its awesome Red Rock vistas. When most people think of Arizona, they think of the hot desert (remember it is dry heat, but over 100 degrees is too hot regardless) and Phoenix or Tucson. But not Prescott, since it is at 5,300 elevation within the Prescott National Forest. Feel the cool summer nights and escape the heat of the desert!!!

Don't forget to come during the fall and winter, since Prescott is a year round destination with four distinct seasons, but with temperate temperatures in both the winter and summer. Some annual seasonal events to remember are as follows:

In April the annual world famous amateur and pro Whiskey Row Off Road Mountain Bike Race

During the first week of July the Oldest Rodeo in North America and Fourth of July Parade around Downtown

For the month of October, Mount Vernon Street (one street east of the property) with its Victorian Homes are totally decked out for Halloween, and our Halloween Eve the street is shut down for the kids and Trick or Treating

Prescott is renowned as the Christmas City of Arizona. The Historic Square is totally decked out with lights and decorations. The first Friday in December is Acker Night, where the Square is closed to traffic, and all of the shops and restaurants/bars have musicians playing. Also there are two separate Christmas parades.

So what are you waiting for, come visit and explore all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Courthouse Square has to offer.
