About Jennifer Sproul Whitesell
Welcome to the Sproul Family Ranch, located in the heart of the beautiful Davis Mountains! The original Sproul Ranch was founded in 1886 by Robert Stuart Sproul. Over 130 years later, the ranch is still a working cattle ranch, owned and operated by the fourth, fifth and sixth generations of Sproul descendants.
Jennifer Sproul Whitesell purchased this Cabin in 1998
Why Jennifer Sproul Whitesell chose Fort Davis
We love Limpia Canyon and want to share a piece of our paradise with you! We built the cabin in 1998 so that people could come experience the serenity and majesty of the Davis Mountains.

Our stay in fort Davis was epic for our family. The cabin made the trip a level beyond. Thanks for sharing your place with us. We are already planning a trip back with another stay here.
Thanks so much!
Canyon, Mule Deer, Wild Turkeys, Javelina.
Great spot for access to the Davis Mts. , Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory. We learned so much about West Texas history.
The cabin was perfect. I only marked it down a star for cleanliness because it is not new, but it certainly was very clean. Well stocked with towels and wash cloths (much appreciated, often missing), dish towels, and assorted kitchen utensils. Nice selection of pots and pans. We enjoyed being able to cook our own food and found Porters in town extremely well stocked.
Everything was great at the cabin. The heat worked well. We did not need to try the air conditioning. Bed very comfortable. We traveled with a friend who made use of the sofa bed in the living room. Although the floor plan is open, we had privacy.
Loved the front porch and the back screened porch. We could have used more time to hang out. But Texas is vast and we are off to Big Bend.
Thanks to our hosts for a great spot.
This place was truly beautiful. Surrounded by mountains on all sides. It was great to be in a place that was private. The hiking trails were all ours. The cabin was cozy and was very well-appointed: it had all of the kitchen, bathroom, etc...items you need. We loved our four days there and highly recommend.
Little canin in the mountains
Beautiful sunrises, beautiful sunsets, lots of stars. By itself so, no neighbors. Quiet! Quaint little town. Very nice stay!
We brought our kids for a Christmas vacation and stayed at the cabin. What a cute place it is! It was perfect in every way. The bed and couch are super comfy and there's plenty of room for an air mattress for a kid. Plenty of towels, everything you need in the kitchen. The location is awesome. We loved hiking and climbing on the big rocks. We saw a skunk and lots of deer. We heard coyotes but didn't see them. The Observatory is close by, and town is literally a few minutes away. We did plenty of activities but our favorite was spending our last afternoon/evening at the cabin. We grilled steaks, watched a movie and played games. We will stay here the next time we visit Fort Davis!
Exactly what we wanted.
Cabin was perfect. Clean and secluded.
Located just minutes from Fort Davis' shopping and restaurants, Fort Davis National Historic Site, and Davis Mountains State Park. A quick 30 minute drive will take you to McDonald Observatory for a star party or to neighboring cities, Marfa and Alpine.
