Perfect lakehouse for our 2 families

  • 5 of 5

June 26th - July 1st, 2016

This was a fantastic house and location for our 2 families - 4 adults and 4 kids (6 - 17). The house had everything we needed - the kitchen was well stocked (with a dishwasher, which helped tremendously!), plenty of rooms and seating throughout the house, bathrooms, towels, laundry, games - all the conveniences of home. And CLEAN! But the best part of all, it's just a short walk over smooth lawn to our very own double-decker deck! Jon and Park provide many floats which we used constantly. The lake was very deep (18 ft?) so it was perfect for swimming and fishing. We did bring our own life jackets for the smaller kids so we could relax a bit more. The chairs and umbrellas used on the top deck were ideal for reading or hanging out. We didn't do any boating, although there are boats available which I'm sure would have been fun on this huge lake.

This property is as good as it gets. If I had to find one thing that could improve (and this is being very nitpicky) - perhaps the kitchen could use more plastic containers for left-overs. But that's it - really!!!

Our families are from Boston, MA and Atlanta, GA and none of us had every been to Lake Hartwell. This house was even better in person than in the listing description and we are so glad we chose it! Jon was so responsive with all our questions - before booking, after paying, and even during our stay.

We hope to be able to come back some day. Thank you Jon & Park!

WONDERFUL place to make family memories

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible place to make memories with your family!!!! The McKnight's home is clean, warm & cozy with plenty of space and lovely lake views from every room :) For us, it was a fabulous way to disconnect (although if you want to stay connected, there is wifi and direct tv!) & spend time together & enjoy the great outdoors. The property is excellently maintained. Although we wanted for nothing, Mr. McKnight was more than accommodating -- answering any questions we had in a very timely manner (ok, actually within seconds of our text!). When we left, we realized my 12 year old daughter forgot a necklace she has gotten from her grandmother. Mr. McKnight not only retrieved the necklace, he mailed it back to us (at his expense) and we received it two days later. Thank you Jon for your kindness, the time you spent with my dad and for sharing your lovely home with us :) We will cherish these memories and look forward to going again!

A beautiful home and dock on a gorgeous lake.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults stayed for a week and had a fabulous time. The house was very comfortable including the beds which isn't always the case. The owners were so friendly and helpful to quickly answer any questions before we arrived. They provided all that we needed in the house and then some. The dock was great and on deep water. So many docks in the area were not even to the water because of the low water level. We took advantage of the convenient boat ramp right in the yard. Gas, ice and stores were all close by. There were a few wasps on the top deck of the dock, but they had a pest man out to try to take care of it. We have rented lake homes for years and this was definitely our best experience by far. Highly recommend this home!

House was excellent. We had everything we needed to enjoy a great weekend.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed all of the dock and deck space available. The upper deck of the dock was a great place to hang out during the day and the screened in porch was an excellent place to hang out at nice. The surround sound speakers were a nice feature as well. The host was excellent and helped address any concerns we had.

Everything they say and more!

  • 5 of 5

This property really had it all. The Lake House is clean inside and out and well maintained throughout.. It was more roomy than expected and easily accommodated our stay and the owner, Jon was very accommodating to our needs.

Ours was a brother-in-laws retreat so the property was an excellent place for rest and relaxation which was why we went. We bought all our groceries, etc. and did not plan on leaving to go out to eat or sight see, we came to fish.

The local boat and bait shop and the neighbors were very informational to us being this was the first time we have been on this lake.

It is located on a large deep water cove we brought two boats for fishing and it was perfect easy access to the private boat ramp landing; water was really low though so it was good that we had a lot of experience with other boat landings which made it easier to get the boats in and out. (with the lake level up their would have been no problems)

Jon and Park, Thank you so much for your hospitality! We enjoyed our stay, the lake house was Awesome!
