About Luke
We are an American family that have lived in many places around the world, and were luckily enough to put down roots in Paris.
Luke purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why Luke chose 18th Arrondissement
After an exhaustive property search in the city we love (over 40 apartments visited, as my wife likes to remind me), we were thrilled to become the owners of our own little 'Château' apartment. From the first step on the original wooden floors of Château Montmartre, we were enamoured with the charm and detail that could only be found in such an authentic place. The atmosphere transported us everyday from the hustle of the city life below, to the decadent days of French gilded mirrors and marble fireplaces.
What makes this Apartment unique
We decided to take on the challenge of self-managing a few updates to allow for a comfortable lifestyle. With an expanded, modern kitchen, and a spa-inspired bathroom, we believe the apartment offers the best of both worlds.

Needs refreshing
Communication of arrangements, extra information and check-in process were excellent. The location was good in terms of Metro, shops, buses, but not a great street - full of hairdressing shops and many young men hanging around until all hours. The apartment had a somewhat dilapidated appearance, unlike the photos on the website. Bathroom and kitchen were excellent. Lighting was poor in the bedrooms - it was impossible to read in bed in one of the rooms, which only had three small lamps which were poorly positioned, with one not working. The parquetry floor creaked badly, with some gaps and loose components.
Hi Ian,
Thank you for your helpful feedback on the needs for refresh and improved bedroom lighting.
Following your stay, on Sep 18 we had the master bedroom professionally repainted, and in September installed new beds (same Queen size) in both bedrooms as well as new dining chairs. I will look into improved reading lamps.
The parquet wooden floors, as they are original and not modern, do squeak a bit when walking.
I'm happy to hear the information, booking and check-in process were positive, as well as the location near Montmartre and transportation.
Thank you for taking great care of the apartment during your stay.
Kind regards,
Luke
Dream Vacation
We have been to Paris several times, however this is the 1st time we were able to share this magical city with our 3 children. This chateau was perfect for that! Location is wonderful, so close to both the metro lines and the bus. It is a short walk to Sacre Coeur and has wonderful bakeries and accessible grocery near by. The Chateau is quite spacious and the shower was refreshing after the hot summer days about the town. It can be a bit loud if you keep the windows open at night, but you can easily sleep with them shut. Both Luke and the management is very responsive to questions and checked in with us multiple times during our stay. We would love to return here on our next trip to Paris.
Mala, thank you for your wonderful review and for taking such great care of the apartment as your own Parisian home. Happy that you and your family enjoyed the spacious apartment during your return trip to Paris! The Metro station beside the apartment and our favored 85 Bus at end of block directly cross Paris to Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, Hotel de Ville, St Germaine des Pres, river Seine, Louvre and Luxembourg Garden.
Kind regards,
Luke
Not What It Seems
I cannot begin to describe how disappointed my family and I were with this apartment. 1. The neighborhood is sketchy! The apartment sits about a street lined with african beauty salons that stay open until all hours of the night with loud music blaring until at least 1am. 2. Graffiti painted all over the outside of this building. 3. Although the building was secure with proper locks and codes, the stairwell up to the apartment was dimly lit and for good reason, IT WAS FILTHY! the walls were dirty and the overly worn carpet smelled of mildew. 4. the apartment itself is old and worn. Those beautiful wooden floors shown in the pictures of the apartment online squeak w with every step you take! The linens were worn and are in desperate need of replacement. The sofa's were soiled and need to be cleaned. The kitchen IS well equipped and the dining table and chairs are fine. The loo is located on the other side of the apartment from the shower. The bathroom/shower is updated and works great except for the persistent mildew smell. You have to use a dehumidifier every time you turn on the water. The neighborhood is primarily Algerian and the properties surrounding the building are not well kept. It is a three block walk to the nearest grocery store and a four block walk to the metro station. While the advertisement does say that the apartment is close to Sacre Couer, don't be filled. Sacre Couer is a four to five block walk straight up hill from this apartment. My family and I tried to find other accommodations at the last minute but since we were a family of six, it was not possible to find a place that could accommodate all of us together. We had three 10 year old girls traveling with us. I would not recommend this apartment under any circumstances. It need a complete cleaning, the bed linens have to be replaced and the owner should be forthcoming about the neighborhood and the noisy (very noisy) night sounds and the very noisy and terribly squeaky flood. 100% misrepresented on line. This is a C apartment in a D neighborhood!
Dear Janie, I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our apartment as expected and appreciate your helpful feedback. I will attend to your points described about the bed linens and bathroom humidity. As described in our listing and commented in reviews of other guests who have enjoyed the apartment, the apartment is on the west-african gentrifying final block of the base of the Montmartre hillside; there are no bars or restaurants immediately below, and normally street noise is only pronounced on weekend nights, as in many parts of Paris. The Metro station is directly 30 feet from the apartment, so I don't understand your reference to 4 blocks away, and there is a grocery store chain within 100 feet (4 more within 500 feet). As you correctly state, and as visible in the photos, the apartment has the typical French arrangement of separated loo and bathroom (so that use of one does not prevent use of the other). It was a pleasure speaking to your adult daughter on the day following her wind-delayed flight arrival and nighttime apartment arrival. I thank you again for the great care your family took of the apartment during your stay.
Wonderful trip
We loved our stay! The apartment is charming! Luke was so responsive and thoughtful, and the location was perfect (right next to the subway and a few blocks from Montmartre). The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. The refrigerator doesn't get super cold and the cheese we bought the first day didn't last in it, so just be aware of that. We loved hanging out in the dining/living area in the evenings talking, playing games and enjoying yummy French wine. We would definitely book again!
Leah, very pleased that you enjoyed the apartment for your time in Paris!
Absolutely loved the classic Parisienne style!
We absolutely loved our stay at this apartment! The location was perfect with just 50 meters to the nearest metro and all necessities just outside the door. The apartment was well-equipped and had a lovely old Parisienne style.
I would definitely stay at this place again, when going to Paris next time :)
