About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4); Weekly Special

The Log Cabin at Sautee Paso Fino Ranch -- “Over the creek and through the woods” . . . to the Log Cabin at Sautee Paso Fino Ranch, a secluded 'true log cabin' with two creeks flowing through the property. This privately owned, family mountain retreat is tucked away between historic Nacoochee Valley and Unicoi State Park – convenient to Helen, Clarkesville, and Cleveland.

We welcome you to visit us and enjoy the majesty of the beautiful and ever-changing North Georgia Mountains where each season displays its own distinctive colors and scenes. Surrounding Helen is the Chattahoochee National Forest, Smithgall Woods, and Unicoi State Park. Richard Russell Scenic Highway and the Appalachian Trail are nearby – as well as many streams, waterfalls, hiking trails, and a wide variety of outdoor activities.

We keep a guest book that includes listings of shops, museums, restaurants, and other attractions.

As you arrive, we personally greet you to give you an opportunity to preview the cabin. We make every effort to provide a clean and pleasant environment for you to enjoy; therefore, this is strictly a non-smoking facility.

The cabin, located on a creek within the Chattahoochee National Forest, is accessed by a gravel road.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: 4 Persons

A good value

  • 4 of 5

Pros: secluded, relatively large, allows pets - our dogs loved it, no cleaning fee (please keep it clean for others so this can be maintained), front porch swing, creek view, close to Helen and Unicoi State Park, private drive, good wifi

Cons: no mountain view, limited to no sun due to foliage, no cable (pro or con), no dishwasher, hard and springy queen mattress, uncomfortable and limited living room seating (a hard couch that doesn't recline and two rocking chairs). It is worth noting that the creek is high when it rains and would be difficult to cross with a sedan.

Owner's Response: The list of amenities and photographs accurately depict the features and furnishings of the cabin. Each guest is given the opportunity to walk through the cabin; and payment is received after the guest approves the accommodations. After receiving a record setting rainfall of 3.9 inches in two days, the creek will rise.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for two nights with my two small children and thoroughly enjoyed the time here. Very secluded cabin but very close to Helen, Brasstown Bald, and Cleavland. If you bring small toddlers, make sure to bring baby gates for steps in the house and outside. The porch has railings so that was not a problem at all. Nicely stocked kitchen I cooked several meals in it. The sound of the creek outside is SO peaceful!! Wifi worked great as well. No cell service, but with the wifi I was fine. Loved meeting Owner he was really nice. I am already planning when we can go back!!!

A great, private place to get away from other humans for a bit.

  • 5 of 5

The porch of this cabin is surrounded by a bend in a stream, giving a panoramic, soothing sound and view of an almost mystical forest. There are no other structures within view of this cabin, total privacy. This place would be perfect for a reader, writer or stressed-out person to regain focus or sanity, with only the sounds of nature. This beautifully decorated, well-appointed cabin has plenty of space and has everything to cook meals to eat around the table, like at home. We walked the dog at Unicoi and Smithgall State Parks daily, and enjoyed amazing sandwiches on fresh baked bread at the Old Sautee Market Deli, which is only about five miles away. Cleveland is not too far away, and a good place to get groceries, gas and necessities at Walmart, Ingles, etc. The overall feeling of this cabin was like staying in a comfortable, well-appointed home, not a vacation accommodation. Don and Brenda really know what they are doing; It was a pleasure dealing with them. We plan to return in the future.

Our New Favorite Cabin in Helen

  • 5 of 5

We now have a new favorite cabin in Helen. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and Don and Brenda were so nice and helpful. You can certainly tell that they are proud of their cabin and take great care in keeping it clean. When I first saw the creek we had to drive over, I was a little nervous, but my van made it over the creek with no problem. The kids (and the dog) had fun playing in the creek that ran by the cabin. We will definitely come back and stay in this cabin.
