About the property

Dean Way Chalet - Spacious & Family-Friendly in Blue Lake Springs

The Dean Way Chalet is a large and inviting cabin with three spacious levels in which you can spread out and enjoy. The chalet is set smack in the middle of the Sierras, and is surrounded by beautiful big trees all year round! The cabin is located in Blue Lake Springs in Arnold, California, and is waiting for you and your friends and family!

The chalet has 4 bedrooms, PLUS a loft, PLUS a full lower level with rec room, sleeper sofa, and ping pong room! You can comfortably sleep 12-13 bodies in beds!

Bear Valley ski resort is only 25 minutes away from the cabin! In both winter and summer, it's a fabulous, family-friendly alternative to busy Tahoe resorts, and a MUCH easier drive! Outside this special cabin, in summer you are steps away from two lakes with beaches, as well as access to all the fabulous recreation that Blue Lake Springs has to offer. Tennis, basketball, swimming pools, shuffleboard, organized kids' activities, bingo nights, outdoor movies, playground, volleyball, Snowflake Lodge Restaurant, and more! Not to mention nearby Calaveras Big Trees State Park and numerous golf courses. In winter there is snow all around the cabin and numerous sno-parks, cross country skiing trails, and of course, Bear Valley!

Of course, you don't have to leave the chalet at all to have a wonderful vacation in the mountains. The possibilities are endless -- you can enjoy a barbeque on the spacious deck and admire the tall trees surrounding the cabin, you can play in the snow all around the cabin during winter (sleds are provided), you can make a fire and play games inside (puzzles, games, and firewood are provided too), or you can swing on the authentic chair lift swing hanging from the deck. Our guests tell us that simply hanging out at the cabin is always a highlight of their vacations!

About Sandy

We are two families from the Bay Area who own this vacation rental together. We have owned the cabin since 2007, and we have spent every year making improvements and updating things so that our guests have great experiences. We also enjoy the cabin with our (5 total) children when it is not rented out. There is so much to do in Arnold, and our cabin makes for an easy, special getaway. The kids love the ping pong and in winter, the sledding right outside. In summer, we spend a lot of time floating on the lakes!

Sandy purchased this cabin in 2007

Three family trip

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Deans Way Chalet. There were 6 adults and 5 kids, ages 4-10, and the house felt big enough for all of us. Good layout, beautiful surroundings (we enjoyed afternoon relaxing on the deck), comfortable beds, great kids room with two bunk beds, two ping pong/ play rooms downstairs where the kids can retreat, and nice open kitchen/ living room in the center of the house. Close to town but it it feels like you're in the woods; the stars at night were beautiful. Do note that sheets and towels are not provided, which wasn't ideal for us but the owners were very accommodating. They were also very friendly and easy to reach. Nearby Big Trees park, a short drive from the house is amazing. We would come back.

Deans Way Chalet

We absolutely loved this home! Just my husband and I and 5 teenagers and it was a perfect spot, from the downstairs game rooms to the upstairs bedroom perfect with the bunk beds. VERY comfortable beds, great layout especially the kitchen where we would set food on the bar/counter and the kids could nosh when they wanted. This home would be great for two families, tons of room. The little lake was great with lifegaurds on duty and the perfect sized beach . We will be back.....

Grandpa and The Family

This home is well located in a nice forested area of Blue Lake Springs. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We took advantage of the swimming pool area and the lake access for fun afternoons. The home had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves from cooking to simply relaxing on the deck and taking in the forest aromas.

The owners were very cooperative from arranging the rental to returning our deposit. I would recommend this home to others looking for an enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable place to stay.

Even better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this place with friends and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. The cabin was clean, fun, and well stocked (including things like portable fans and a pack n' play, both which came in handy). We took full advantage of the downstairs play area (playing some serious ping pong and turning on a movie for the kids while the parents got some free time upstairs!). I could easily see having a perfectly content vacation in the winter just hanging out at the house. But seeing as we were there in the summer we decided to take advantage of their membership to the recreation center. Totally worth the daily fee! Such a great little place.

Overall, I would highly recommend this house. It's a gem, for sure. (And the area is great as well! It's really pretty, quaint and a smooth ride if you're coming from the bay area. I highly recommend Calaveras Big Trees State Park. I've been to a handful of Big Tree parks and I think the one in Arnold is my favorite so far.)

Also - I think this is worth noting - the owners were incredibly easy to work with and were very quick, and seemed happy, to answer my array of questions. This made the experience seamless!

I went up with my family and we all loved the cabin. There was plenty of room for all of us. The setting was perfect. Location was great, some dears came by the cabin and my grandchildren loved seeing them. We went to the lake and had a great time. thank you for letting us stay there. We will definitely be back.
