It's Time to Relax....

My family is excited to share our new slice of heaven in Sea Pines with your family and friends. The house was purchased from owners that previously listed it on VRBO. The reviews you see are real, some are from the past owner's guests some from recent guests of our own.

We have been vacationing in Hilton Head for 12 years prior to buying this place. Both my parents and the former owner's parents are always around taking care of it. The former owner's parents still clean the place thoroughly after every guest leaves (she even irons the sheets!)

The spacious home has a great open floor plan with high ceilings in every room. The master bedroom and guest room are on the opposite sides of the large, open living room and dining room. There is also a sun room off of the master bedroom that walks out to the back deck. I spend hours in there reading and relaxing. There is a king size bed in master bedroom and two full beds in the guest room. We also have a pull out couch in the main room and two roll away beds.

The home has two flat screen TVs with cable. High speed wireless internet.

The great room has an open kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked (I have a family who has come two years in a row for Thanksgiving and prepares their feast in it). Small kitchen appliances include microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, regular coffee maker, crock pot, bread maker, blender, and electric tea kettle. Brand new stainless steel range and refrigerator.

There is a massive tree that engulfs the house and the property. The front of house has been newly landscaped. Out back are both a large patio and new wooden deck. My beloved tree comes up through the deck (this tree is a major reason for the purchase, you'll see). There is a patio set with a table and four chairs and a grill that was purchased last year. We grill out about every other night when we go as a family. The open back yard and green space is very quiet and secluded. The house sits on a quiet cul de sac with hardly any traffic (bikes or cars).

I purchased two beach cruisers within the first two hours of owning the home. The two bikes are replaced each year. We have kids and have a bike trailer as well as a pull behind bike. The backyard green space takes you directly to the bike path/ Fraser turn circle. The house is just a short bike ride to both the beach and Harbor Town. It is a two-minute bike ride to Sea Pines Center and Truffles restaurant for a morning paper or bite to eat. The newly redone neighborhood playground and swimming pool are 1/4 mile away.

As the new owners we have already had some repeat renters who previously rented the place and loved it. I even had to turn down a repeat renter for the weekend that I closed on the house (hey-I want to enjoy it to!)

The family room has a pull out couch and there are also two wheel away (single size) beds in the master closet. Fully stocked clean linens will be awaiting you.

About Dustin W.

I am from O-HHI-O and have been coming down since 1999. My best friends parents own a place down near South Beach and I have been down every Memorial Day for the past 12 years. I went to Ohio University and used to come down for Memorial Day weekends to both party and find a job for the summer. I lived in Shipyard one summer and worked at both Catch 22 (which is still there and delicious- Go tell Brian and Daisy Dustin sent you) and delivered Pizza's late night at Mojo Pie. (now gone, RIP)

I sell phone systems for a living up in Lexington KY with my wife who is a Nurse at UK Hospital. Both my wife and two young daughters are hooked on Sea Pines thanks to daddy.

Dustin W. purchased this house in 2012

Why Dustin W. chose Sea Pines

Owning a place in Sea Pines has been a life goal for me. Our Memorial Day tradition at our friends place toward South Beach made buying a place in Sea Pines the only option. We honestly didn't even look at any other plantations.

What's better than that, is that, we didn't even step foot inside of this place prior to putting in an offer.

Yep- It was purchased completely site unseen.

To be fair, I actually knew the Greenwood Forest area of Sea Pines extremely well. I dated a girl that college summer who rented a house with her friends on Wildwood Ct, one street over. Spending time over there and at the neighborhood pool gave me a good idea of what I was getting into.

The truth is I would have fallen in love with the home had I seen it and paid too much. This took the emotion out of it.

It was completely worth it. I stepped foot into the house the day I closed on October 12th. It exceeded my expectations.

It was a very Zen couple of days down there. I was living in a house I had purchase site unseen, in an area I had always dreamed of.

What makes this house unique

The way the home sits so low under the canopy of the trees is what made it for us. It has that classic Sea Pines architecture. The deck built around the tree in the back is my favorite part of the outside. (though I also enjoy the landscaping I busted my butt doing my 1st weekend there) The big living area outback under the tree is where to be. I also like chilling out in our over sized chairs just outside the master bedroom. Having both the two bedrooms and family room all open up to the back is nice.

The interior has great natural daylight in all rooms. We also love the big 16 feet tall ceilings though out. The kitchen needs updated but the layout is great. (wifes planning this) While the house isn't the biggest around, it doesn't feel small because of how open the floor plan is. You can see in the reviews how one of the previous owner guests commented on the size of the place as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Dustin:

Other than being on the chilly side, we had a great two weeks with lots of golf, bike riding, beach walking, great restaurants, dinners with friends, reading, basketball watching and did I mention the great restaurants???

Sadly we need to leave tomorrow because we have a family gathering over the weekend. A Palm Sunday tradition so we will close up as per instructions.

We found the house comfortable and very livable. We liked the secluded back patio and it was always nice and quiet. The only suggestions I have for the kitchen would be some placemats and some microwave dishes to reheat leftovers. (now there ;)

We hope to return to Hilton Head.

Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Great vacation but the house needs a lot of attention

  • 3 of 5

Great location. The floors, kitchen and bedding were sufficiently clean upon arrival but the overall condition of the property was disappointing. We looked past all of all the cosmetic issues, broken light switches and shelves, poor TV and internet configurations, and the uncomfortable furniture. What bothered us the most were the roaches and 3-4" long centipedes in the house. We also killed many mosquitoes inside the house. The insect problem has been acknowledged by the owner in previous reviews so we knew they were already aware of it.

The TV's require multiple remotes with a page of handwritten instructions to tell you how to turn use them. The wifi access (via DSL) was very slow (the access point is wrapped in a web of wires) so we used our 4G phones to provide hotspot internet to our laptops. No big deal; we didn't spend much time at all in the house so this didn't bother us.

The two bikes were in good shape and Harbor Town, the beach, and South Beach were all a quick bike ride away. The AC appears to be newer and works very well. Good job there.

The yard needs a lot of brush killed and overgrowth removed, and the dead leaves blown off the porch and back deck. That lack of clearing out the yard probably explains the bad mosquito and noseeum problem right up close to the house. There is no driveway at all; you park your car in the front yard. It would be very inexpensive to install a basic concrete pad to park on.

Response time with the owners was 2 to 4 days each time. Even when traveling it just takes seconds to acknowledge a question by a renter on the Home Away app.

Once again, it is a great location and the rental price we paid would be a good value once all of these easy-to-fix issues are completed. Once this house gets the attention it needs we would have no problem recommending it or renting it again.

Excellent location

  • 4 of 5

This house provided an excellent location to walk/ bike to the beaches, shops, play ground, etc. It was clean and we loved the private backyard. The beds were comfortable. We could have used more information about what to do, directions (restraurants, accessable beaches, how to get to the playground, ect. and perhaps favorite places to go. We had to talk to people and discover things for ourselves. The kitchen had essentials, but the pots and pans could have been a little better. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we had a wonderful time.

Enjoyed our stay for the month

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we were very pleased with the house and location, lots of room for my wife and I and of course our dog. We had some minor glitches on the first day but were taken care of immediately by the owner who is very easy to contact. Spent almost every day walking to Harbour Town and enjoying the sunshine by the marina. It was an excellent time away and my only concern was the month flew by to quickly. Would for sure return to this location and this home.

Quiet and relaxing

This house is in a nice quiet neighborhood. It is right off one of the paths that connect to the beach. We biked and walked every day. Was a great holiday vacation.

Nice house - Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My kids and I stayed in the house for a week for our annual beach vacation. The location is perfect as it is equidistant to South Beach and Harbour Town. Lawton Stables is even closer. The house was clean and comfortable. The grill worked nicely, the WIFI was super fast and the owner's response time was almost immediate to the couple of questions I had. There were a couple minor cons like the bike chain didn't work and I had to tinker with the washing machine to turn it on but in my view the pros far outweigh the cons and I hope to stay at this property in the future. Also, I have stayed in Hilton Head many times and compared to other visits our stay was a super value.

Miles of easy bike trails in the shade. Miles of sandy beaches in the sun. Great ponds everywhere for fishing. Awesome wildlife with alligators and blue herons all over. Dolphins at the beach like clockwork in the evenings. Stunning golf courses. Every where you look is green and lush. In sea pines, the trees come first which is why the roads are so curvy. The roads were originally designed from above with a helicopter to not disrupt the ponds and trees. Great family vacation for all ages of kids. Harbor town and south beach are super kid friendly. Both with live music where the entertainers play to the kids and parents. Let your kids go dance with the others while you have a drink and enjoy the great ocean views. Oh, and the restaurants are great as well. Before dinner you can ride to anywhere in sea pines. There is a nature preserve with an ancient Indian shells circle in the middle of the woods, there is also the remains of a huge civil war home called Baynard ruins. You have to try fishing in many of the ponds all over the place or just plop down on one of the many benches around these ponds and soak it in. We go to the grocery store first thing and load up the kitchen then hardly use our car or leave the plantation the rest of the week.
