Why Susan Cox chose Beech Mountain
Our family is based in Florida and we wanted a retreat from the heat and the experience of the seasons for our entire family to enjoy. The times we spend here brings us all together. When we walked in the door and saw the view stretching for as far as the eye can see, left to right, we were stunned. There is something special about moving around in this space always knowing the great expanse is all around you. We liked the peacefulness of living at the higher elevations of Beech Mountain. We also loved the condo setting with some people around to get to know. Yet, this condo does not feel like a condo at all. It is an end unit and the soaring ceilings and two levels make it feel like a single family home. Having a condo setting makes locking up easy with property managers to keep an eye on the unit for us.
What makes this Condo unique
Beech Mountain is charming and the only city at such a high elevation on the east coast. The town does so much to offer amenities and everything is very upscale centered around the Beech Mountain Club. The road to our unit is paved all the way and very well kept. When you enter Squirrel Lane, the road becomes gravel. Squirrel Lane has a cute little park as you enter the street. You will see a small building that says 'Northridge Villas' and you park there and walk down from there to our unit and up the stairs to the front door. It is close to everything, yet far away. It is nice just to walk around the villas themselves and the streets nearby up to sunset park. You can have as much activity as you want or no activity. The unit is very clean and comfortable with everything in mind to anticipate your needs. It feels like a special home, not a hotel room. It is your cabin in the woods get away.

This is one of the coolest places we've ever stayed!
My wife and I brought our 3 kids, ages 6-9 to show them skiing and snow tubing on the beautiful NC mountains, but we ended up doing so much more. We stayed 3 nights, Friday thru Monday in the month of February.
The SKY BEECH condo is in a excellent location. The views from the deck are outstanding. The main area which consists of a open living room, dining and kitchen are perfect! Slept great in the Master bedroom, very comfortable. Our 2 boys were happy in the second bedroom. Our daughter slept in the loft, which she loved the spiral stair and shag carpet going up to it! Very spacious in the loft. Could have brought 2 of her friends and still have plenty of space up there
We were able to go to Fred's, a local grocery store up the street and purchase more than essentials, but contents to cook a pot of spaghetti! In cooking at the condo, the kitchen is well equipped, plus I caught myself gazing at the mountains while I was stirring! There are several games and puzzles which came in handy during the "down" time/rainy time. We took the kids to Elk River Falls (about 35 minutes from here). They had never seen a real life waterfall and just to see their excitement made the excursion well worth it, plus, its a beautiful drive through Banner Elk to get there! Perry Park, just down the road from the condo is a hiking trail along a rushing stream. We got about 1.5 miles on the trail and my wife and I wanted to turn around before it got dark, the kids were bummed and wanted to keep going. Needless to say, another great activity in close proximity.
Personally, I've lived in NC for 22 years. Been to Asheville and Boone. Now I've been to Beech Mountain which is now my favorite!
We will be back sooner than later and will definately stay at the SKY BEECH condo again, for sure!
Great place for our family of boys
My wife and I visited in mid-January to take our boys (ages 2-15) skiing. The location and convenience to the slopes, adequate eating, groceries, etc. was awesome. It had a very cozy feel to it, although the heating was a little uneven: the loft got SO much hotter than the rest of the place. We weren't able to use the laundry, as it's for owner use only. But we just made our boys wear outfits twice, and they didn't blink an eye about that. Overall, we had a great stay. Thank you for sharing your villa with my family for our fun weekend!
PS. Susan was very accomodating to some needs that my family had, so thank you very much for that!!
Wow wow wow!! This condo is just amazing! Super clean and extremely well equipped. We were 4 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of room for each of us. The property even has a very large selection of board games that will keep you entertained, cable tv and fast internet. It is located 5 mins away from Beech Ski Resort which is very convenient if you plan to ski. Freddy's Grocery store is 1.5 miles away and has all you need and it's not overpriced.
Susan will reply to you very quickly and will stay on top of anything you need.
I really recommend this place. I will not add any pictures because the place looks just like it's posted. WE LOVED THE DECORATIONS!!!
Thank you Susan for making our stay this great. We will reach out to you next time we go to Beech!
We had a wonderful time. Condo was very clean and fully stocked. So many deer, I was able to share my apple with two of them. Views were amazing. We will be back!
We loved it!!
We brought our 5 adult children from the ages of 18 to 26 for a weekend getaway. It was perfect and very clean. There was plenty of room for our group of seven. We all loved the retro décor and spent our days on the slopes and our evenings playing games next to the fireplace. The owner was very nice and easy to work with. The condo manager was awesome. We had a little trouble with a vehicle not starting and she was very helpful when I called her. It was a great weekend. We hope to come back next year.
Nice getaway condo in Beech Mountain area
Comfortable living and sleeping areas with nice views. Access to skiing and hiking nearby.
This beautiful condo is in the perfect area on Beech Mountain. It is at a high altitude affording amazing views above the treetops. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is only a half mile away and walking distance for the young and hardy. There are 7 lifts and 15 trails. The Beech Mountain Resort has been one of the most popular ski destinations on the east coast for 45 years. The elevation and snow-making capabilities make it some of the best skiing in the Carolinas. The ski village has everything one could need both for skiers and non-skiers including a lodge, restaurants, shopping and ice skating. From our condo, a beautiful 3 mile drive takes you to the city of Beech Mountain's Buckeye Lake Recreation Center providing fitness classes, hiking trails to falls, a running trail with lake views, weight training, fitness classes of all types including 2 kinds of yoga, basketball, cardio equipment, a library and daily activities for kids, teens and adults. Enjoying Beech Mountain means enjoying it's beauty. Hiking trails are all over Beech Mountain. A visit to Lake Coffey Park includes a lake trail and fishing pier. From there you can take the Upper Pond Creek trail or more challenging Lower Pond Creek trail as you immerse yourself in hikes full of streams, rapids and boulder view spots surrounded by beech trees, evergreens with the occasional glimpses of wildlife. Just walk out the front door of the condo and go for a walk and you will see vistas, deer and enjoy the fresh quiet serene beauty of the top of Beech. Beech Mountain has plenty of restaurants ranging from the family friendly pizza place to the charming and 5 star quality romantic spot. Fred;s Mercantile is nearby to get that quick meal, provisions and bottle of wine. At the bottom of the mountain is the charming college town of Banner Elk. It offers a dozens of restaurants including my favorite 'Frogs and Monkeys', shopping, theater, churches, a winery complete with tours and excursion companies offering whitewater rafting, tubing, caving and winter sports and sleigh rides. All this is within 15 minutes of the condo. Highway 194 in Banner Elk leads the way to one of the most scenic drives in America: The drive to Valle Crucis is sheer beauty and charm where many a visitor enjoys the stop to tour historical Mast General Store. Mast General Store is full of fun for everyone and there is always something going on with musicians or festivals to make it worth the drive. Winters are full of snow and crystal beauty. Summers are cool. As soon as you climb the mountain, you forget the steaming hot temperatures of whereto you came. There are activities every week on Beech including kite festivals, bike races and renown music festivals. The town has put together so many activities for all ages, there is always a list of things to do to fill in your time. My favorites are hiking, outdoor yoga, fishing, rafting, golf and tennis. There are so many activities for children they can look forward to hay rides, arts and crafts and swimming. Cool days and nights with fresh mountain air, windows wide open and beauty everywhere you look.
