About gordon fika
My wife and I used to travel west to the Vancouver area Islands with our two children when they were small. We explored the beaches and tidal pools enjoying morning coffee while the kids beach combed, went fishing and hiking, and kayaking. The ocean always has wildlife activity geese, otters, seal and a lot of crab, shrimp and fish. We rented a house out here in Sooke in 2000 after we completed a week of trekking on the West Coast Trail - and it was a luxurious end to a great experience.
gordon fika purchased this House in 2005
Why gordon fika chose Sooke
We wanted an area close to a city, yet away from it all. We selected this property because of its spectacular view and quietness, and its location: it's just a short walk to serious coffee, a number of restaurants and groceries. We just built (sep. 2012) a contemporary west coast style inviting house designed by a Victoria architect: it is quite an improvement to the old house torn down in 2007. We wanted a clean, efficient and strong house. It is warm and cosy, energy efficient, and built to current seismic standards.
What makes this House unique
WOW, is the word heard most often when people come for a visit. We have a truly stunning view from most rooms in the house and the guest house. You can walk down the 25 steps and explore the beach in low tide. Or sit out in comfort on the decks looking right into the water. On clear nights you can watch the moon rise and travel, accross the Sooke basin, its reflecting lights playing on the often still waters of the basin. Handy but away from it all.

Stunning home and views!
We had my mum's 90 th birthday here and it was fabulous! The house is well equipped with everything. There were 9 of us and lots of space and bathrooms. The house is ultra modern With spectacular views, and lots of amenities close by.
I would definitely go back.
You will love it!
Wonderful views, lots of otters, seals and waterfowl. The house was beautiful and comfortable. It was well stocked and wanted for nothing.
It’s an amazing place. A good place to relax. Had a great time there. Hope to be back again.
This was an outstanding place to stay, with a great view and in a beautiful area to visit. The house had all the space we needed and was well equipped for our large group. East Sooke Park, beaches and the Sooke Potholes combined with outstanding weather made our experience very memorable.
I rented Gordon's place on the water for a girls weekend away. It was a truly amazing rental. Easy to check in and out, every detail you would need to know about the house all organized into a binder, and amazingly clean. All of the beds were so comfortable. It was perfect for the right of us. Gordon has truly put a ton of effort into making this a seamless rental experience with attention to details that blew us away. In addition, the place was gorgeous and the location spectacular. Waking up every morning to that beautiful ocean view. I could not recommended Gordon's place more.
Whale watching charter is a couple blocks away. Fishing charters are next door and 2 doors down. 5 km from the Galloping Goose trail. 5 km from a zip line. 40 km from Bear Mountain golf, and 7 or more other courses within 30 minutes or so by car. A short drive to the south trail head of the West Coast Marine Trail. Across the basin from East Sooke regional park. Crab fishing/Shrimping in the waters just off the property.
