Big house, nice neighborhood, some updates would make it better

The house is located in a nice Tahoe Donner neighborhood. We enjoyed walking the dog in the evenings, admiring the nearby cabins. The house is huge, it seems good for big parties. View from the back patio towards the golf course a bonus. The property is rather old, and while some areas (kitchen, bathrooms) have been updated and are fully functional, others (doors, windows, carpet) look dated. The rooms had a light old-house smell. The carpet going down to the basement and some of the bath rugs are disgustingly stained and creepy. The basement has been adapted as a sleeping area, but it’s dark and not very enticing. The upper rooms are better. The house and deck are painted dark brown, different from the pictures, which is not my favorite color. The cleaners were not ready when we arrived, but the property managers were pretty easy to reach to discuss the issue. They sent us some goodies to apologize for the incident, which I thought was a nice gesture. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation here, but I don’t think this would be my first choice when I return to Tahoe Donner.

Family friendly cabin!

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and had a wonderful time. The home was very clean upon entry, there were sets of towels on each bed and the kitchen was fully stocked with dinnerware and appliances. We had 4 kids ages 3-6 years old and they had a blast in the game room, outside deck and the main family room. We would definitley recommend this home for families with kids!

Choosing a rental is always a gamble, but our stay here was beyond my expectations. The house was clean, comfortable and great for gathering together. The street is full of nice cabins, and has a great deck on the back. The owner, Jim, was friendly and there if we needed anything at all.

OK/Nice, but not great

PROS: Great location, quiet neighborhood, lots of space and beds, views out the backyard, dogs allowed, well stocked kitchen. CONS: Place needs a deep cleaning (as other reviewers noted), and carpets are grimy. The house manual needs updating, with troubleshooting. The manual said "turn on gas fireplace" to start it. Well 5 adults, 1 hour later could not get either fireplace to work. It was 56 degrees when we walked in. Technician came the next morning and fixed it, but the remotes for the fireplaces don't work either, so no thermostat capability. The manual also says check-out is 11am, but email instructions say 10am. The hottub was like a warm bath, even set at 104 for 24 hours, it didn't come to temperature. Beds are OK, not great. While we enjoyed our stay, we wouldn't rent again. Overall, didn't feel the value for the cost.

Tahoe-Donner Cabin

This is a great house in Tahoe Donner that backs up to a golf course. The kids had plenty of places to sleep and had lots of fun sledding out back. The furniture is worn but the home felt very welcoming and comfortable with all the amenities we needed.

Great house

We had a wonderful stay. It was easy to get inside and the house was very spacious. The back yard area was great! Got to do some sledding right behind the house. The only issues were: the foos ball table didn’t have a ball so we bought some. Left them behind for future guests. The coffee pot made for weird tasting coffee. We tried to clean it out but we had to just go get coffee from a shop in the mornings. Otherwise the kitchen was well stocked. We called for a late checkout but they couldn’t accommodate that with more guests coming later on that day. The manager Brent was very nice, though. It was hard to get out by 10am. Such a big house with a lot of people. Even waking up early, the cleaner showed up as we were packing the car. Just one person for that big house! It could have been a bit cleaner around the edges... could use a deep clean. We would come again. Great location.

Serene View of the 17th Green

Check in and check out were a breeze as instructions were very clear. The bedrooms, beds and bathrooms were a plenty while the dining room table accommodated 8 to 10 of us comfortably. The baby highchair, stroller, and gates made this home very baby friendly. My only suggestions would be to give the kitchen a good cleaning, replace the rug skid protectors, and get new couch cushions. Grandma, Grandpa, three adult children and their spouses, and four grandchildren (ages 7 yrs to 8 months) all enjoyed their stay.

Good space

We were surprised at the generosity of the house, from the complete kitchen to the bathroom supplies and more. We always wore our socks, though, because it was clear the rugs hadn't been vacuumed. We washed kitchenware before use after the first time we tried to use the dishwasher and discovered that - without instructions, it was easy to think it had run its cycle when it really only rinsed a short time and shut off. We had to assume everything needed to be washed before use, and had to scour the internet to find instructions for this model and get it to go through a complete cleaning cycle. Also, although all emails showed check-out time as 10am, the instruction binder showed 11am, confusing. That said, we enjoyed our stay. It was exactly what we anticipated and the roomy comfy house was fine overall. Thank you all.

This home was perfect for what our group needed. The open floor plan was so wonderful! It wasn’t too far from downtown Truckee. The beds were pretty comfortable (mine was). Others said their beds were a little hard, but overall the consensus was we would stay there again! Quiet neighborhood. Instructions were clear. The kitchen was well stocked. The only thing that was challenging was the lighting. There were switches everywhere but only a handful of lights actually worked. Aside from that it was just what we needed! Thank you to the owners!

This property fit us perfectly!

We held our annual staff retreat at this property and it fit us perfectly. We are a staff of 10 from Chico, CA. The driving distance is quick and easy this time of year and this house had all the rooms and beds we needed for a staff of 10. We were able to have some meetings outside on the deck (weather permitting) and still comfortable and roomy to hold all of us inside as well. The kitchen was plenty spacious and was well stocked. During the evening, we were able to split up our group as some choose to watch nighty baseball games on the downstairs TV and some a movie on the big screen in the main room. We would definitely reserve this property again for our retreats as the communication and customer service was top notch and easy to navigate.

Wonderful Escape

Property is beautiful and peaceful place. Cabin is overall spacious and has pretty much everything you need. Neighborhood is wonderful, quiet and comfortable. Great cabin for those families with little ones as well. Kids of all ages have a blast. Reservation process was incredibly smooth and easy. Owner is extremely helpful and accommodating. I definitely recommend this cabin.

Wonderful place for a weekend getaway! Fully stocked kitchen and it fit 14 people very comfortably.

Our entire group was comfortable the entire weekend as there was no lack of space. We were never bored because the house was filled with activities. There was foosball in the gameroom, two great stereos for music, Tvs in the living room and all of the bedrooms, a fully equipped hot tub, and a decent firepit outside. We were in the cabin for a whole day and didn't even notice that there was a full horseshoe field outside! It is a 15 minute drive to groceries and restaurants, and the kitchen was fully stocked with anything you would need to prepare any kind of meal. It is also not far at all from Donner Lake or Lake Tahoe, which leads to almost unlimited activities such as playing of the beach, kayaking, hiking, and much more. They even include two passes to Donner Lake Marina which allows 4 people per pass in the marina for free! The people managing the property were also very easy to get a hold of during our stay and were extremely accommodating. Our group loved our trip and are already looking for another weekend to book here again. We couldn't ask for a better weekend! We highly recommend this house for any groups looking for a great trip!
