Nice property but difficult owner
This is a nice, large property on Lake Travis. It's a really good spot, on a quiet part of the lake and close to a good marina, but it's on the farther side of Lake Travis in terms of driving to and from Austin.
Carlotta was a difficult host, and for that reason, I wouldn't come back. First off, when I was trying to book the place from the UK she told me that she thought I might be an internet fraudster and it became awkward and a hassle. We didn't really interact with her during the stay but after we left she complained about a missing paddle and took $100 off the deposit, for a $30 item. She explained that she was also charging us for the time it took to go and buy a new one. I'm sorry, but after paying over $10,000 for a week's stay, that's just petty and downright stupid. She should be looking at the bigger picture and trying to delight her customers so they want to come back. Particularly with a place that carries a 5 figure price tag, it's a no brainer to try to wow guests with things like beer, wine, snacks, flowers, etc and have someone there at checkin to greet guests and show them how everything works and make sure they feel welcome. There was none of that at all. And of course, you'll want to overlook the trivial things that happen in the normal course of a stay, rather than trying to nickel and dime them to death. As they say in the UK, it was a total "own goal".
Our VRBO account has been compromised in the past and it was discovered with another international traveler. The experience leaves you jaded and suspicious of similar activity. It is unfortunate that you took this personal. There was no ill-will towards you and obviously, we did not explain that very well.
In regards to the paddle, it would have been nice to know from you, at your departure, or even during your stay, that the paddle needed to be replaced since it sank in the lake. What if we didn't notice it was missing and the next guests arrived with no paddle to use and then they would not have been happy. We aim to provide all of our guests with the same amenities and it can be difficult to do if people do not be respectful and courteous.
In regards to your welcome experience, you should have received your home access information prior to your stay. If you would have requested someone to greet you, we could have certainly made that happen. Not everyone drinks alcohol and some are allergic to flowers and some are diabetic. So, it is difficult to WOW guests with things that may not even be appreciated. What we do provide is a clean house on Lake Travis with great views and lots of items on site to entertain both on and off the lake so that you can make great memories with your guests during your stay.
Great Family Get-away property!
Rented the Tower Waterfront property for my Family of 12 to Celebrate my Husband's 75th Birthday and it worked great for us to gather in a Central Texas location coming from the Panhandle and South Texas! House was beautiful tho' DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the Elevator with your Rental unless you are young and very spry. Carrying all of your supplies and suitcases up/down the staircases can be less than perfect for most! We ended up adding it on shortly after arrival especially since I was recovering from and ankle injury and could not manuver the stairs during our stay. at all. Carlotta was most helpful in advising us of the nearby Marina where we rented a great Pontoon Boat for our stay and that was super fun. It was very hot while we were there so did not get to enjoy all of the downstairs games, but the other areas of the house were great. The couple of small problems we incurred were responded to in a quick and satisfactory manner. Overall, our Family had an AWESOME time! Dorothy/Corpus Christi, TX
Everything was amazing... The home owner was great and has done an amazing job with the place.
Awesome Lake Travis Views
We stayed here for a family vacation in June and had a wonderful time. Great location on Lake Travis. The house has a boat dock so bring a water toy if you can. We had our jetski and it was an extra nice touch to our vacation.
We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. The home was very comfortable and clean.
We celebrated my husbands 60th birthday with our children and grandchildren. The grandkids loved the bunk room. We all had a great time and plenty of space to spread out. We rented watercraft each day and thoroughly enjoyed using the lake. The marina across the lake made it easy to rent watercraft quickly and effectively. I would recommend this property for sure. Carlotta was always available and helpful.
We are so happy you all had a great experience and hope you come back!
This home was built to enjoy Lake Travis. It is on a main body of deep water with a gradual walk to the lake. You can bring your own water toy(s) or rent one from a local Marina. There is access to a boat launch, less than 1/2 a mile from the house. This is the ultimate lake home for you to relax and enjoy the outdoors. When the sun goes down, there is a lot to do in the home to keep everybody occupied such as poker, pool, Foosball, air hockey, movies, games, etc.
