Very peaceful, private location. This was our second time staying here. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. Very clean, with quality furniture. Great place to relax and unwind. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our second stay at this house and we had a great stay. It was very peaceful, and we had fun watching wild turkey, deer, and pileated woodpeckers in the yard.
Very comfortable and cozy. Great spaces for everyone to get comfortable. Loved the wildlife sightings so close to the deck. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Definitely could unwind and relax.
It was a very relaxing time. We really liked the proximity to all the sites, hikes, views, and shopping. I would definitely come back to this cabin in the pines. We have stayed in many Vrbo’s and this was the most clean one yet.I would highly recommend!!
Beautiful home with lots of outdoor space, ample parking and a beautiful interior. Black out shades throughout which made sleeping great. Very close to Baileys Harbor, overall great location for a Door County getaway!
Everything was perfect for our stay. The host's communication was excellent, the check-in couldn't have been easier, the house is very clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and definitely in a peaceful location. The kitchen has everything needed for gourmet cooking, wifi was solid. We were sad to leave and will come back.
The title says it all: quiet, clean, relaxing and great location. We enjoyed our stay while we explored the island. Beach nearby; wild turkeys out the window, and everything you could possibly need for your stay - washer dryer, dishwasher, tasteful house furnishings. Would stay there again.
We enjoyed our vacation at Peace in the Pines! Every evening when we returned home, we had 2 deer waiting for us near the driveway. We often also saw turkeys and other wildlife. This location is within a 15 minute drive to most of the cities, which makes it a great location to stay in Door County. After a long day of sightseeing, it was wonderful to come back to quiet! The host is quick with responses to questions! Highly recommend Peace in the Pines!
Very clean home. Layout of home is open has several perks, deck, screen porch, patio for outdoor living and park just a short distance from the home. It is conveniently located, easy to get to the rest of peninsula.
The most beautiful, immaculate, well furnished, relaxing VRBO we've had to date. Rick was so helpful with everything and we wanted for nothing in their beautiful home. It was the perfect vacation to get away and reconnect as a family. Can't say enough about this place. I'm HOPING we can get back next year again. SO MUCH FUN!!!!
This rental was exactly what we needed. It is perfect for a couple, or small family. Very clean and so quite we could hear the pines whispering. If you need a retreat from busyness, this is the perfect spot. It's also within easy driving distance of all Door County has to offer.
The owner was great, he called before we went to answer any questions we had.
We stayed a week in September and the property was very billable to all Bailey’s Harbor attractions. Lots of no deer in and around this property and Turkeys were also regular visitors. Internet was good and TV provided the Packer game so we were happy!
My wife and I recently stayed at Peace in the Pines for 11 nights. It was so private and peaceful yet conveniently located on the Door County peninsula. We truly loved this place!
The cabin was very spacious for the two of us. The property is tucked back away from the road in a very nice grove of pine trees. The cabin was very clean and the furnishings were quality. We really can't think of anything negative about this place. Really looking forward to staying here again.
Our stay was incredibly relaxing. The property is like something out of a movie. Being surrounded by all the pine trees was incredibly tranquil. Lots to explore. Especially being right next to kangaroo lake. The inside of the cabin was very relaxing as well. We loved the open floor plan and the rustic yet modern aesthetic. I vacationed with my husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. And there was more than enough room for us. Rick was very nice and commutative. He even suggested a few places to visit and things to do. We had everything we needed in the vrbo. The only thing ill mention that "may" be important for other guests is that there is no streaming services on the TV. Which was no big deal for us. We brought our laptop and HDMI cable to connect to the TV. So we were able to watch our favorite shows on Hulu/Netflix no problem. Wifi was fantastic! All in all, we truly enjoyed this property and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend! Thanks again Rick!
Very nice! Secluded but close to town. Lots of windows to watch the wildlife. Loved the reading nook!! Great shower. Not many options on the TV so suggest bringing some DVDs.
Perfect for us! Very quiet, distant neighbors, walkable area, low traffic.
Beautifully appointed, lovely finish work, and a great floor plan. Just what we needed and wanted! Thank you Rick!

About the host

My wife and I who live in Waukegan, Il. decided to build a cabin in Door County because as kid I used to spend my summers on Washington Island, (also in Door County), where my Grandma was born, and we both grew to love Door County as a whole. The time and extra expense it takes to get there though, started to become prohibitive for us, so our trips/ vacations to the island eventually became farther and farther apart, even though that is where my heart is.
Why they chose this property
On our few trips to the island in later years I always enjoyed traveling on the east side (Hwy 57) because I always felt it had a little more unspoiled beauty, and offered a more balanced mix of activities vs. peace and quiet. But you can always drive staight west for 15-20 minutes to the west side, if you want to added activity. Baileys Harbor seemed to be the perfect spot, so we started to rent there. One day it dawned on me, because of my 32 years of being in the construction trade as an electrician, to take my savings and buy a property in Baileys Harbor, then general contract the building of a vacation rental. Then hopefully it will eventually come close to paying for itself and I can use it once and awhile too. And maybe even make it back to the island once and a while.
What makes this property unique
As we explained in the description at the top of this web page we feel that we ended up building a really attractive, welcoming and peaceful vacation rental with a lot of special touchs inside and out, (thanks to the excellent workmanship of Paul LeClair, Hibbards Creek Log Homes & other capable Door Co. contractors) so that you will feel at home in it like we do. I think the extra touches we thought of as we went along during the building process will add up to more fun for you, and as we start renting more hopefully we can add to it here and there.
