About Rick Ochoa
My wife and I who live in Waukegan, Il. decided to build a cabin in Door County because as kid I used to spend my summers on Washington Island, (also in Door County), where my Grandma was born, and we both grew to love Door County as a whole. The time and extra expense it takes to get there though, started to become prohibitive for us, so our trips/ vacations to the island eventually became farther and farther apart, even though that is where my heart is.
Rick Ochoa purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Rick Ochoa chose Baileys Harbor
On our few trips to the island in later years I always enjoyed traveling on the east side (Hwy 57) because I always felt it had a little more unspoiled beauty, and offered a more balanced mix of activities vs. peace and quiet. But you can always drive staight west for 15-20 minutes to the west side, if you want to added activity. Baileys Harbor seemed to be the perfect spot, so we started to rent there. One day it dawned on me, because of my 32 years of being in the construction trade as an electrician, to take my savings and buy a property in Baileys Harbor, then general contract the building of a vacation rental. Then hopefully it will eventually come close to paying for itself and I can use it once and awhile too. And maybe even make it back to the island once and a while.
What makes this Cabin unique
As we explained in the description at the top of this web page we feel that we ended up building a really attractive, welcoming and peaceful vacation rental with a lot of special touchs inside and out, (thanks to the excellent workmanship of Paul LeClair, Hibbards Creek Log Homes & other capable Door Co. contractors) so that you will feel at home in it like we do. I think the extra touches we thought of as we went along during the building process will add up to more fun for you, and as we start renting more hopefully we can add to it here and there.

Peace in the Pines
I rented this cabin for my uncle, aunt, and parents; they loved it. They spent a week from late December until early January and welcomed the new year in peace among the trees in the cozy cabin.
Rick was accommodating and answered every question. He can be reached quite easily by phone or email if any questions or issues arise. I would recommend this to anyone and would definitely stay again.

Rick paid attention to detail when he handcrafted this home. Such a comfortable bed and OH that gorgeous shower! The beautiful woodwork is evident throughout this retreat. Truly a labor of love when he built this beautiful cabin/retreat/escape. The kitchen fabulous, everything you might need is readily available. A very cozy fireplace! . GREAT CABIN! Clean, peaceful, cozy! The owner was great to work with!
This is a perfect cabin for a relaxing stay in Door County! The cabin was clean and very well maintained. It is well stocked and very nicely decorated. It is set back in the pines, very peaceful and quiet. Rick was great to work with. Very nice, and quick to respond to any correspondence.
Secluded, peaceful, clean and comfortable
This is a well maintained property, hidden almost one tenth of a mile back from the road in a small forest of pine trees. We saw deer, wild turkey, squirrels, and colorful birds passing through the woods in front of the deck. The owner, Rick, is responsive and easy to work with. The cabin is very clean. It is well suited for a family vacation or for a couple seeking a quiet getaway. We were very pleased with our experience at this property.
The property is very clean and definitely felt like home.
My experience with this stay was excellent. It was a great place to relax after being out all day. I would recommend this house.
