About Jennifer

We bought our Door County property many years ago. The view and perfect approach to the water sold us on the location. We've been residing at our house and renting the adjacent guest house ever since, enjoying every minute.

Jennifer purchased this house in 1968

Why Jennifer chose Door County

The location is ideal--on the Bay shore just 1 1/2 miles north of Little Harbor exactly halfway between Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor on County trunk B...also called Bay Shore Drive. Entertainment and Shopping is 3 to 8 miles away in any direction.

What makes this house unique

The Panorama guest house deck is everyone's favorite spot. The comfortable deck furniture is a great place to observe the shoreline's beautiful scenery and sunsets. The deck is built overlooking the water, so a person can have a sweeping view up and down the Bay. Look across the water to both Michigan and Wisconsin shores. The guest house is always comfortable...air conditioned for summer's hot days, centrally heated for Spring and Fall. Cards, checkers, puzzles, dominoes etc. are there for rainy days. Current novels, Andy Rash's children's books and Door County history books are on the bookshelf. Maps, tourist literature, DVD's and CD's are in the living room. There are also a few outdoor games for the spacious lawn outside.

Guestbook comments from the owner

No matter what age you are, the Panorama is the place to be. Kids love to play outside on the lawn, skip rocks in the water, swim from shore. Games and books inside. A great place for seniors--quiet, beautiful views, a ranch house--everything on one floor. Great for a honeymoon or anniversary--very private.

Perfect cottage for our family of 4! Gorgeous big water views. Peg and her family are warm and welcoming. Cottage is comfortable and well equipped with more than the essentials. We would stay again! Thank you!

Let the sound of the water soothe your soul!

  • 4 of 5

The pictures are very representative of what you get with the exception of all the things Peg has left for you that you might need and the sound of the water. Ah, the sweet sound of the water! The house is clean and well-stocked. There is no washer/dryer so make sure you bring enough clothes and some beach towels (bath towels are supplied), unless you want to spend time at the laundromat. While we spent most days exploring the towns and parks, mornings and evenings were reserved for hanging on the deck with your beverage of choice. The beds are very soft, but very comfy and the ceiling fans were wonderful. Peg lives next door, but is unobtrusive, yet there should you need anything. My only recommendations would be to add a standing fan or two for use in the bedrooms as it can get rather warm at night. The house has A/C units in the kitchen and family room that do a nice job of cooling the house down on a scorching day but if you like to sleep with your bedroom door closed, it doesn't much help. Luckily, most of the time it was cool enough outside for us not to bother with the A/C, allowing the breeze and the ceiling fans to do their jobs but deeper into the summer, this might be an issue come bedtime. Also, while the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking, there were no condiments. When I have stayed other places, most families leave behind things like ketchup, mustard, jelly, etc. I assumed this would be the case here too but the fridge was cleaned out. Not a big deal, but it was more to buy during a grocery run. Over all, the experience was lovely and I would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay at the Panorama! We apologize if the bedrooms were not cool enough on hotter evenings. We have two A/C units and ceiling fans to cool the 800 sq. ft. in the cottage, and if there is need for further cooling, a freestanding fan is in the living room that guests are welcome to move anywhere in the home. Regarding condiments, we keep currently dated non-perishable items like spices and cooking oils, but we're not comfortable leaving perishables in the fridge, as we can't vouch for their freshness, and would prefer to have the refrigerator completely clean when a new guest arrives. We're happy to hear you were otherwise comfortable in our home, and hope you can join us again!

The cabin was very clean and very well supplied with all of the essentials including briquets.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin in fact it may have been the high light of out trip to Door County. We would eat our evening meal on the deck and stay out and watch the sunset and stayed on the deck until the stars were out. It was a great experience.

We would recommend this cabin to anybody visiting Door County

Essence of Door County distilled in Panorama House

  • 5 of 5

One of the attractions of the Door County Peninsula is its great scenery and views. Panorama House had that in an abundance. What a wonderful place to stay. The deck on the house may be its best feature. It's just 15 feet from Lake Michigan. You could sit on it all day long watching the clouds, boats, waves, changing view of small islands far off in the distance. The sunsets were phenomenal. The house itself was cozy and comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and quaint dishes. The mattress in the master bedroom lent itself to a good night's sleep - once we got used to the sound of the waves on the shore. There was a TV. We didn't need to use it. At Panorama, you are close enough to the "attractions" of Door County to visit them and far enough away from them to avoid them.

As a lover of nature and the ONE WHO created it all, I was full of joy and praise from the moment we entered Panarama! The home was clean, neat and well stocked. With just the two of us, it was almost quaint having to wash dishes--so nice having music from the radio during cooking and clean-up! The Bay and sky were never the same twice! And, personally, I was thrilled to NOT have needed the many bug sprays I brought! Great hints on the bulletin board for food and activity. I'm so glad your home was my introduction to Wisconsin life!! Take care! JoAnne and Larry

Beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

We visited Door County for the first time and our stay at the Panorama was perfect. We watched the sun set every night and the kids played in the water ever day. The location was perfect for site seeing all around the county. We visited lighthouses, state parks, wineries, shopped nearby towns, and kayaked in Bailey's Harbor. The house was exceptionally clean and stocked with games, movies, books, etc. We played family games and enjoyed the awesome view. We would definitely go back.
