MORE DETAILS

The Brass Bed Guestroom is an apartment in the basement of our turn-of-the-century home in the residential part of Capitol Hill. It has been recently renovated to provide all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. The queen-size bed plus a sofa bed can accommodate one to four persons .See “Notes” under Rates for additional charge for more than two guests.

In addition to the sofa and several side chairs, the living room area has a 60” HDTV with a high-definition cable connection including a premium package with FREE Netflix movies, On Demand programs and special programming. High-speed Internet (WiFi) is also provided at no extra cost. Enjoy the designated work/study space that has a built-in desk and overhead lighting for your laptop.

The large kitchen is in a separate room. It has a full-size gas range and refrigerator, microwave oven (with popcorn provided) and dining table that can comfortably seat four. You’ll have a coffeepot (with fresh regular or decaf coffee ground to your taste), teapot (with a selection of teas), toaster, blender and all the pots, pans, dishes, glassware and utensils you might need. We also provide an ironing board, iron, hair dryer and even a couple of umbrellas should you get an opportunity to experience Seattle’s liquid sunshine.

The bathroom has a full-size tub with a shower and a ceiling heater for added comfort. All the necessary towels and linens are included.

As a matter of information, the apartment is in the basement of the house that was constructed in 1907, thus the ceiling height and door openings are a bit lower than normal. And there is one step up to the house from the driveway and then five steps down to the apartment that persons with physical limitations could find challenging.

We have designed our backyard to provide a great place to relax and entertain. There’s plenty of seating area, a BBQ, large table with umbrella, and a big fish pond with a water feature to provide a peaceful ambience.

Our driveway will easily accommodate your car at no additional cost. A private side entrance with a keypad lock affords easy access and security. A few stairs take you down to the actual entrance of the apartment with its own entry door. With respect to security, we have a centrally monitored security and fire detection system and a newly installed camera system.

Public transportation is one block away. The #49 Metro bus will take you to the Capitol Hill business and entertainment district, to downtown Seattle and north to the University of Washington. This bus also connects you to nearly all parts of Seattle’s metropolitan area and even to the airport via our ever-expanding light rail “Link” system. If you are flying into Seattle, the Link and the Metro bus provide door-to-door service to the Brass Bed Guestroom. Walking, biking and maybe one of the many daily rentable cars are other good transportation options. And how about a water taxi to West Seattle for fish and chips and a volleyball game on the beach, or a ferry ride to Vashon Island or to the San Juan Islands, or even an overnight getaway to Victoria, British Columbia?

About Larry or Suzi Hettick [co-owners]

We are Larry and Suzi Hettick. We're both from Oregon and have lived in and traveled to many US and overseas locations. We moved to Seattle in 1992 to make this our forever home. Restoring it to its original condition while remodeling and upgrading it to accommodate modern features has been our passion. Our lower-level basement was our latest project – over a year in the making, we have transformed over 525 square feet of space into an apartment that provides all the comforts of home. We've truly enjoyed welcoming guests into our home for over 6 years.

We selected this location for its historical heritage, convenient access to all Seattle has to offer, and friendly neighborhood atmosphere. You will definitely feel welcome here.

we have good experience and knowledge with most of the things to do and see in Seattle, and we always like to share such information with other people. There's so many things to do and so little time to do them so we are always available to help you plan and then enjoy your Seattle trip. Hospitality is what we are all about -- that's our story and we are sticking to it! We truly look forward to meeting you. Our single-purpose goal is hospitality.

You can stay totally busy taking in all the sites and sounds of the area or just sit back, relax and watch a movie on our big screen TV or barbecue something on our backyard deck. It’s all possible and we will do everything we can to meet your needs.

What makes this apartment unique

Seattle really is a “take-advantage-of-it” kind of city. The Brass Bed Guestroom gives you the base from which to enjoy your time here. We have one real goal – to give you the space, tools and comforts of a home-style environment to maximize your visit to our city. Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful oasis to come home to after the hustle and bustle of sightseeing. Everything is covered from the beautiful neighbourhood with gorgeous side street views down to the water to the little details like usb chargers by the bed, sugar and sweetener portions and shampoo and body wash dispenser in the shower. We can’t recommend this beautiful place enough. So convenient to downtown too.

Great hospitality

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely Capitol Hill home. Larry and Suzi could not have been better hosts, even providing me a lift downtown when the bus was unexpectedly re-routed because of a road race. Would highly recommend.
