Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My little family of 4 really enjoyed staying in the carriage house loft. The neighborhood was great, especially the 6 deer roaming around the yards and the big playground within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Durango! Clean, updated and perfect for us.

Great property, very welcoming hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Carriage House Loft over Christmas week. The rental is in the back, over the garage with private stairs and deck/patio. The one bedroom space fit us well as it was just two of us (plus a pooch). The living room had a futon so there would be room for another person, if needed. We had everything we needed - pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, mixing bowls, dishes, towels, etc.

The weather was unseasonably mild (50 degrees and sunny) so we took advantage of the quick 10-15min walk to the downtown area quite frequently. There were lots of places to eat and coffee shops. On the way to downtown, there's a nice walking path on the river. There are also very close mountain biking and hiking trails just west of the property (inside the neighborhood behind the garage actually), which were perfect and a great surprise :)

We would definitely stay here again when we are back to Durango!

Perfect for a couple.

  • 5 of 5

Roomy, clean and modern in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown Durango. We stayed a week and couldn’t have been more comfortable. The hosts live in the main house and are very responsive and accommodating. We’ll be back!

This carriage house in Durango, Colorado exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect for ease of exploring downtown. Tastefully furnished and impeccably clean. Joe and Yona are accessible and ready to assist if needed.

Perfect home base to explore the area!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Joe and Yona's carriage house! We felt welcome right away. The place was spacious, well-supplied, and beautifully done. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout. The place feels very private despite its proximity to the main house. We especially enjoyed having coffee on the secluded deck. We loved the quiet, tree-lined neighborhood location that was only a few minutes from historic downtown Durango. The only downfall was that we didn't get to stay longer! We'll definitely be back.

Great location and charming place

  • 5 of 5

This is a very clean and charming place. Location is fantastic as it is close to downtown, the train, and river walk. We loved our private outdoor deck, the beautiful fully stocked kitchen, huge walk in shower, and the comfy king bed. This rental was so very comfortable and owners Joe and Yona made sure we had everything we needed. We saw a mama doe with two babies on the parkway as we walked to the river walk. Being from a city this is unique. We could only stay 2 nights, wish it was more, so we will be sure to come back for a longer stay.

Thanks Joe and Yona for your wonderful hospitality.

About Joe and Yona Delling

Both of us attended here at Ft Lewis College and while we have both lived other places neither of us had ever found a place quite like Durango. We have both now Lived in town for more than 20 years. Yona is a nurse at the local hospital and Joe is a fly fishing guide and carpenter. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to live and raise a family in such a unique location.

Joe and Yona Delling purchased this bungalow in 2005

Why Joe and Yona Delling chose Durango

Ours is one of the few Victorian homes in the neighborhood built in the late 1800s. It required a lot of fixing up but the location and historical nature of the house was just too much for us to pass up. We finished construction on the Carriage house in early 2014 in hopes people would spend their vacations here and also as place for friends and family to stay when they visit.

What makes this bungalow unique

One benefit of the properties location is that it butts to a forested hillside, this means we have no alley or neighbors behind us. The deck of the Carriage house faces this hill and its common to see deer and other wildlife pass through. I think it offers a privacy and feel that's hard to find in a location this close to Main Avenue.
