About the property

Tahoe Style A-Frame 4 Bedroom, 2 Bath Lakeside, In The Trees

(Please do not wire any funds or monies to owner. Payments for bookings are ONLY accepted through VRBO).

Camp-Run-A-Muck is ideally suited for anyone desiring a retreat from the ordinary and 'the daily grind'.

Perfect for a romantic and holiday getaway, several couples, a group of good friends, families, a hideaway, a pre or post wedding rendevous, a ski (snow or water) lodge, or just a place to watch the world go by.

Two large bedrooms are upstairs (with Queen sized beds, with pull out twin and full sized sleeper sofas) along with a master bathroom suite with a shower stall with his and hers sinks.

Downstairs bedrooms feature a antique full sized bed (unfortunatley the largest they made around the turn of the century), a pair of bunk beds in the game room with an additional Queen sized sleeper sofa.

Living room also has a Queen sized sleeper sofa close to the woodstove, perfect for those nights when the snow's coming down and you just want to cuddle up with your favorite person or persons.

Downstairs bathroom has a tub shower with period furnishings and wallcoverings. Upstairs bathroom has a stall shower and dual sinks.

Both bathrooms feature pull chain wall mounted toliets and premium resort quality extra soft and plush towels.

Handicapped or disabled access to house easily made by covered level ramp to front wrap-around porch and deck. House (main level), porch and deck now wheelchair accessible. Please contact owners for more information about accessibility.

Unbelievable year round living with cozy Spring, comfortable Summers, and heartwarming Fall and Wintertime ambiance surround the countryside around Camp Run-A-Muck.

Located within a short 3 minute walk to our local lake, the featured house is located on a short, quiet, up hill cul-de-sac, where we're surrounded by mature evergreen trees that even grow through our huge wraparound deck, which can be the perfect place to relax with your morning coffee, a place in the fresh air to start your day, an evening destination for a cocktail or two, or a stop over on your way to luxuriate in the 4 - 6 person hot tub on the lower deck.

After your day is finally done, retire to your private comfortably appointed luxurious bedrooms (with European Style featherbed mattress or Tempurpedic foundations. 400 - 560 thread count sheets with down like and down alternative memory pillows that will cradle you for the ultimate in a good nights rest.

All bedrooms come with flat screen HDTV's, DVD players and stereo systems. Most bedrooms also boast Sony IPOD docking clock radio's.

To take off the evening chill, the house comes with two propane fireplaces along with a high efficiency wood stove in the main living room.

All bedrooms have ceiling fans and cozy electric baseboard heating, perfect for those of you that like to sleep with your windows open.

The master bedroom comes with one of the two gas fireplaces so you don't have haul firewood to create a 'spark'.

Our lake has a recently upgraded multi-million dollar boat launch ramp, which will be perfect to put in your ski boat, sailboat, or fishing boat. As it's a drinking water reservoir, jet skis and sea-doos are not allowed.

The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper has described our lake (which is called Scott's Flat Reservoir), as one of the Sierra Nevada's best kept secrets.

At approximately 760 acres, the lake is roughly 3 1/2 X 1 mile long with up to 7 miles of shoreline. It is actually large enough that a resident fleet of sailboats can dot the water's surface during the sailing season. Most mornings, the lake's water is like glass.

Wildlife and solitude abound here. Bald eagles, ospreys, geese, deer and coyotes are residents here along with the occassional bear, mountain lion, bobcat and fox. Watch where you step!

A local community store is within easy walking distance (perfect for the morning or an after dinner stroll). Downtown Nevada City is approximately 10 - 12 minutes away by car.

Most days and nights (with the exception of the boating season), there can be little to no noise except the wind in the trees. It's hard to describe that to those that live in a world of 'white noise'.

Come, we invite you and your family friends, co-workers or that someone special to escape to our retreat from the real world.

Whether your life is full, or you're now looking for something off the beaten path, we look forward to providing you an fulfilling experience very few people may ever be able to have, where ever you hail from.

Thank you for your interest in our little slice of heaven and we look forward to seeing you in Nevada City.

We have posted a short video presentation on the home and it's layout on YouTube. Please search for "NC Camp Run A Muck Walkthrough 2015".

Please read through all descriptions and conditions before booking property. Thank you again for your interest.

About Caroline and Craig Silliman

Working toward retirement, Caroline and Craig still reside in the San Francisco area and devote time to our stunning Nevada City home and our other vacation rentals throughout Northern California.

We've designed and set up this property to be a home away from home for our family and guests to experience all the luxury and details that we know everyone will enjoy.

We have been associated with the hotel and guest client industries and know how to please people. We have been fortunate to extensively travel the world for the last 30 years and have stayed in many upscale hotels and other traveler's accomodations. This has made us realize the little touches and creature comforts that we can provide to make your stay truely memorable.

Luxury, ambiance and discretion are paramount with us and is our guiding philosophy for this property. We will be continually posting more pictures of this stunning property to showcase all of its ammenities.

Why Caroline and Craig Silliman chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Camp-Run-A-Muck fit every desire we had for a lakeside mountain getaway that we looked for years to find.

Combined with all of the local attractions, plus an easy drive from anywhere in Northern California, and located in the 'heart of gold country', it was an easy choice for us.

Almost everything on the property has been updated and to some extent modernized to take full advantage of progress.

We know that you'll enjoy this mountain getaway almost as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

Crafted in the European style, this A-Frame style home boasts a stunning view, location and solitude, all set in a mature evergreen forest bordering the Tahoe Douglass National Forest in Nevada City, California.

Extensive woodwork with open beamed ceilings, most rooms come with intricate wooden detailed walls and hand crafted touches.

A mixture of unique and modern furnishings and appointments, we have chosen to reflect the historic ambiance of the locale to add to our guest's experience of the property.

Vaulted ceilings for the upper Master and rear bedrooms. Spectacular 180 degree panoramic views from the Master bedroom, provide a filtered view through mature towering evergreen trees of our own personal lake.

3 fireplaces provide cozy encompassing warmth should you desire. A well stocked woodshed can guarantee a romantic fire every evening.

Crisp evenings, warm days, fresh air and gentle breezes provide that mountain amibiance and feeling intune with the 'real world'.

On demand hot water means never running out. Wait till you experience our hot tub while looking up to a field of stars. No local streetlights means almost perfect stargazing. If the conditions are right, our semi-resident flock of bats may delight and entertain you.

Perfect Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My 8 friends and I got together for a weekend at "Camp Run A Muck". The place was perfect with comfortable accommodations: WiFI, jacuzzi, cable to watch the Giant's games, big deck, bbq -- What else could 9 guys ask for? A Highlight was the short walk down to the lake where we found great swimming holes. The water was perfect. Craig took great care of us, and was easily available to answer any questions. We are definitely thinking about coming back to the cabin in the future.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

It is not often we get the opportunity to vacation with our 2 sons and daughters in law with 6 busy schedules. When we did, I am so happy we picked "Camp Run A Muck" as our destination. We are water people, which is how I found this awesome home, and took a boat and 2 kayaks with us. The boat ramp is literally a minutes drive from the house and very quiet...we found several nice beaches on this beautiful lake. If you are not a boater no worries...there are plenty of swim areas within a few minutes walk. The house is wonderful and there's plenty of parking. We actually hosted a "family day" one of the days we were there and had 15 family members from 3 generations (we are from nearby Auburn). Everyone loved the house (especially the spacious deck) and enjoyed the lake. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax. The kitchen had absolutely everything you could possibly need (including a nice bottle of wine, cold beer and yummy chocolates left for us by Craig and Caroline) , the living room was cozy and everything was very clean and comfortable (including the sheets and towels). We did not use the "kid's room" but it would sure be a fun place with many games and movies. The yard is beautiful, with pretty automatic lighting at night. Besides sharing the gift of time with family just hanging out, I have to say waking up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping was one of my favorites (and watching them enjoy the feeders). We even saw one of the two resident eagles soar:) Caroline and Craig are very kind and easy to communicate with, we loved their home and feel very fortunate that they share it with people like us that really enjoy getting away and having a relaxing, memorable vacation. We absolutely look forward to going back sometime in the near future:)

We all want to return

  • 5 of 5

My two daughters, son-in-law, 3 grandsons and I enjoyed ourselves in this beautiful home. Everything was ready for us and items included so many amenities, kitchen supplies, (chocolates in the fridge), wine, plenty of firewood if needed, extra linens, and hot tub enjoyed by some of my family. The home is immaculate, spacious and very comfortable. Families of many generations will enjoy being here. We enjoyed Bistro 221 for lunch especially. In fact my two grandsons purchased new guitars in Grass Valley and enjoyed playing them on the deck in the early evening. I enjoyed the Country Living store with its stained glass items. I highly recommend this lovely and relaxing home. Seven out of seven of us gave it a 2 thumbs up! Yes, when time permits we want to return.

Owner's Response: Dear Liz Thank you for your kind words and for the great feedback. It is our greatest joy that our guests have an experience like you and your family to our little get - a - way in the lovely "Gold Rush District" of the Sierra Nevada's. We have never received a 7 out of 7, two thumbs up accolade from any of our guests and we are eternally grateful to you and your family (especially the grandkids (who are notoriously difficult to please)) for enjoying the property and the area. Hopefully, we'll meet again someday, and thank you for choosing us. Glad the weather was good for you as the day after you left, we had 3 inches of snow. Sincerely, Caroling and Craig

Lovely retreat in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend. We had a blast at Camp-Run-A-Muck. The owners clearly put a lot of attention to detail into ensuring that their guests are comfortable. Ample amount of charm to admire throughout the property. Hop, skip, and a jump to Scott's Lake Flat where we enjoyed kayaking. Short driving distance to Nevada City. We will certainly be back!

Nevada City is truely one of the Sierra Nevada's hidden treasures. A historic Victorian era gold mining town, Nevada City now attracts people from all over the world due to it's old time downtown, world class restaurants, live theater, antique and specialty shops, and a breathtaking setting in the foothills of Northern California's Gold Country.

The featured home in this listing is a short 10 minute drive to downtown Nevada City, and is strategically located just off Scott's Flat Resevoir, a man made lake (approximately 3.5 miles X 1 mile wide) known for it's skiing, boating, sailing, kayaking and fishing.

One can be busy and active every moment of the day up here. Some people come for a weekend and never leave.

The change of season's are magical in and around Nevada City. The fall foiliage color change downtown and in the surrounding hills can be breathtaking. Crisp nights and warm days are our trademark.

Situated just at snowline, snowfall is typically a dusting and provides just the right touch for the annual Victorian Christmas celebration in Nevada City's downtown that runs several weeks.

Sister City, Grass Valley (just 10 minutes from Nevada City), also boasts that unique gold country ambiance and yesterday's charm.

Fourth of July is celebrated locally with equal fervor. Awesome displays of fireworks and the patriotic spirit are in full display at the local county fairgrounds. Come for a unforgettable vacation in our 'Jewel In the Sierra's', you won't be disappointed, and may it be the first of many return visits.
