This two bedroom/one bath cottage is for the guest that desires and appreciates a true, 1930's Pensacola cottage which showcases the original heart pine flooring, tongue and groove ceilings and wainscoting, yet through a tedious 2009 renovation, has all the expected modern conveniences such as granite countertops, dishwasher, enhanced fixtures and central heating and air conditioning. Extreme care was taken to preserve original architectural characteristics while enhancing the livability and comfort of the home. The floor plan provides maximum space utilization with an open living to dining room and the fantastic period ‘Jack and Jill’ bath is conveniently accessible from either bedroom. The “Florida” room off of the kitchen holds the full size washer and dryer as well as storage for beach toys, and other convenience items. Arguably the best part of the home is the inviting front porch swing; day or night, what better way to watch the world pass by! While this home can sleep up to four, it is primarily intended for a couple or small family get-away. The home is located 2.5 blocks from a city park with full playground, baseball fields etc., 4 blocks to an amazing family owned deli/grocery store (Apple Market), 6 blocks to a stretch of U.S Hwy 90 known as "Scenic Highway" that has a multitude of great family owned restaurants. With certainty, and as guest reviews attest, we believe this is the perfect accommodation for those interested in venturing from traditional lodging options while refusing to compromise high standards of safety, cleanliness and comfort. Our guests receive the best value of any place in town. We LOVE the location. East Pensacola Heights is a gem, situated on a peninsula with Escambia bay to the South and East and Bayou Texar to the West. This neighborhood is convenient to the beach, downtown, the mall, airport and has many of it's own restaurants and even an amazing 'old time' grocery store just 4 blocks away. Homes in East Pensacola Heights vary from the early 1900's to new construction happening on vacant lots today! The area has maintained as a clean, safe, working class neighborhood for over 100 years and that truly has something to be said for it.

What makes this house unique

From this location, you can explore Pensacola and the surrounding area easily and efficiently. There is a locals favorite deli/market (Apple Market) with full service espresso/Coffee bar 3-4 blocks away. Public park with water access (suitable for kayak/ paddle board) 2 blocks away, park with baseball field and children's playground 2 blocks away. Marina and Public boat ramp very close. Many Fantastic restaurant's within 1/2 mile. And of coarse the worlds most beautiful beaches 10-15 min away!!!

It looked fine when we first went in then the cockroachs came out! we found lots in kitchen .

We would never stay here again! Roaches every where, not just kitchen. We tried calling and emailing owner multiple times b/c they said we could contact them anytime to no avail. I think we r done with home away.Which is a real shame b/c we rented one in mederia, fl in jan. that was perfect. This was supposed to be a nice vaca when we took our son and daughter to college for the first time. We ended up leaving three days early due to the roaches. We really expected a phone call or email from the owners. We sent them pictures of roaches thru email and got nothing. Very disappointed !

Owner's Response: In late August a guest reported seeing a single Palmetto bug, which is Florida’s gentle name given to the native ‘cockroach’. Most commonly seen in their natural outdoor environment around leaves, ground cover and in palmetto bushes, they will seek cover and habitat within a home if it lends itself accessible. Standard outdoor preventive measures typically suffice in keeping the pests at bay, but if there is excessive rain or an inadequate pesticide treatment they will attempt to seek refuge within a structure. Upon receiving notice of the August bug sighting we promptly treated around the outside and key areas of consideration inside. Apparently per your identification the treatment was an extreme success! The bugs noted during your stay were all deceased and mostly isolated to a single point of entry, so fortunately this minor bug issue was swiftly rectified. We do apologize for you having to go through the aftermath of a successful treatment and understand how this would have been discerning. I assure you, had you attempted to communicate the situation to us during your stay we would have done whatever necessary to mitigate your distress and disappointment. While leaving your initial voicemail complaint, after your abrupt 2 day early departure to begin your 2 day drive home, your phone remained off the hook which afforded us the entertainment of hearing everyone in the car scoff at the wild excessiveness of your claim and expressing how grossly exaggerated it was. At that point we were unable to discern truthfulness to the extent of your claims and there became no amicable resolution, thus we opted to decline reciprocal communication. Fortunately since your departure there has only been one deceased bug arise, current guest has been made aware and is understanding of the results of an effective treatment. We will continue to conduct preventative measures in order to keep the cottage pest free!

Great Home and Excellent Location!

The home was just the right size and had everything we wanted and best of all is the location. We could easily get to the beaches and downtown too. We were pleasantly surprised by great restaurants within walking distance.

Beautiful & Perfect!

We were in town for a wedding and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. Tim and Evie have so much in the home you don't have to buy much of anything! The house was clean and well maintained, rooms were perfect and the kitchen was just big enough. The only downfall was the tiny narrow tub...just made showering a little uncomfortable. Aside from that, all our friends staying on the island at hotels and some condos complained about how dirty, unkept or smelly their rooms were. We were excited to have an amazing place to stay and call home for our visit. Will definitely bring my family back and stay here in the future. THANK YOU TIM AND EVIE FOR PROVIDING A HOUSE THAT FEELS LIKE A HOME and at such a reasonable price! Bless you!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words and we’re glad that you had a wonderful time. Our guests do find that the cottage is meticulously cleaned/maintained and the value is absolutely superior. Our stance is that the cottage has to be absolutely perfect, for every single check in! The bathtub is original to the 1930’s construction and categorized as a ‘cast iron built in-pedestal’. It has a rolled edge on the two exposed sides and we love the openness of having the ‘head’ end not up against a wall. Antique tubs typically have a gradual slope from the center of the bottom to the sides which enhances the structural integrity of the cast and improves the ability for water to drain properly. The standup shower concept had not been implemented in this era of construction and flat bottom steel or acrylic tubs were not in existence. It is most likely that the original tub fixture didn’t have any shower option on it at all! The tub is a full 60” long and the width is that of a standard bathtub. The slightly higher sides do enable a greater water volume than tubs of today which is great for bathing kids after a day at the beach or enjoying a long hot bath! In May 2014, a flood rendered our home uninhabitable and for 10 months our family of 5 (children ages 2,7 and 9) was blessed with having the cottage as an alternative residence. Throughout our stay we thoroughly enjoyed this bathtub always feeling it to be comfortable and an amazing architectural detail to the property!
