You will love this designer furnished townhouse, minutes from the vibrancy of downtown Vail. The secluded location in a great neighborhood assures it will be quiet and relaxing when you arrive back to your "home away." Savor the space and luxury of a very nicely appointed home for less than the price of a single slope side hotel room.

Take a moment, and take in the spectacular views of Gore Creek from the large living room windows. In spring, summer, fall, and warmer winter days you can relax on comfortable patio furniture, perfect for your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The gas grill on the deck is great for barbeques all year round.

Both bedrooms are on the upper level, each with a very comfortable king size bed. A cozy sitting area between the two bedrooms is furnished with a full pull out sofa/futon. The low ceiling loft "fortress," furnished with a comfortable queen mattress, is recommended for children. Here they will find books, games, and a small video TV with a selection of movie classics. Up to 6 people, a maximum of 4 adults, will find very pleasant accommodations.

Johnson Ski House is a family home where we like to stay, too! It is thoughtfully furnished with all amenities you expect: quality contemporary furniture, 3 new large flat screen TVs (in the living area and in each bedroom), a Blue-Ray/DVD player, private Wi-Fi, Bluetooth unit, full sized washer/dryer, luxurious linens, and a fully equipped, newly renovated kitchen. Kitchen updates include new top quality stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. An ecological, easy switch on gas log fireplace provides instant warmth and ambiance on frosty mornings and evenings at home as you savor your Vail hideaway.

The nicely landscaped Ptarmigan grounds include a well maintained, heated outdoor summer season swimming pool with new upscale loungers, tables, umbrellas, and chairs. A year round indoor hot tub is available for a relaxing soak after your day on the mountain - or after exploring the many tempting shops, galleries, and boutiques of Vail and Beaver Creek.

Two free parking spaces are located just out your front door. Our roots are in Minnesota and Nebraska. We now have 3 generations of our immediate family living in and loving the Vail area, a nearly perfect place to enjoy unparalleled cultural, entertainment, sports and recreation activities all year round. As the familiar story goes, we came for one winter, stayed for the summer, and never left! We enjoy sharing our great affordable destination home and this wonderful resort area with others.

Why Kari Johnson chose Vail

We had been enjoying yearly ski vacations in Vail, and absolutely fell in love with the town and the spectacular mountains. We knew we wanted West Vail for the convenience to local services. The scenic recreation path you catch right next to the complex makes it easy to walk or bike safely into the village. We invested in Ptarmigan specifically for the prime location, the well managed grounds, and pool and hot tub available on premises. The two level layout of our home works great for us, providing privacy via separation of the living and sleeping areas. The bedrooms are quite spacious compared to other condos we looked into before choosing Johnson Ski House. The quiet, established neighborhood and mature landscaping with large beautiful pines made our decision easy!

What makes this townhome unique

Gore Creek! This iconic mountain stream is visible from the kitchen, dining, and living areas and decks of our home. If you love fly fishing, you can't beat the ready access to prime gold medal water only steps off the patio. The decks allow us to enjoy the outdoors and the relaxing sound of the creek flowing by. The rec path is so convenient for a scenic walk into the village. It's a biker's dream! Our neighborhood feels very safe and "small town," yet fabulous Vail and Beaver Creek amenities are minutes away. (Did someone mention skiing?)

Amazing

Our experience with staying at the Johnson's Ski House was amazing from the very beginning. The communication from Kari was professional, informative and precise. She was very helpful walking us through the process of renting their home. Her response time was immediate and she was very informative to our questions.

From the moment we walked into the Johnson Ski House we felt more than at home. It was clean, roomy and very comfortable. We enjoyed spending time on the deck listening to the river as it rushed by. It was wonderful having the kitchen stocked so we could cook meals. It was an extra convenience having a washer and dryer in the unit too! The bedrooms were big and both rooms had king size beds which were very comfortable. There was plenty of room for hanging clothes in the closets or one could use the dressers. The girls enjoyed hanging out and sleeping in the loft.

They thought of everything. This home had games, 4 tvs and a book shelf with lots of reading material. It was like having the convenience of home but being in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Who could ask for more?

The location was perfect. There were two grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations located across the highway, A convenience store was located within walking distance of the town home. We enjoyed walking along the path next to the river. It was relaxing and beautiful.

It was a wonderful mountain get away. We would highly recommend staying at the Johnson's Ski House! We would definitely come back in a heart beat.

What A Great Time in a Gem of a West Vail Townhouse!

Thank you for a much needed summer getaway in the beautiful mountains. The keyless entry was so convenient, no worries about losing keys and it worked very smoothly every time.

We were blown away by the beautiful view straight out to the creek when we walked in, instant stress relief! The lovely patio with really comfortable furniture was perfect for our morning coffee. We were able to leave the doors open to enjoy the relaxing sounds of the water flowing by all during our stay. We enjoy swimming for exercise, and found the pool so pleasant and not crowded at all on our morning visits.

Making meals was easy and enjoyable in the best stocked kitchen I have ever had in a rental. We found everything we needed. The dishes, cookware, etc. were of very good quality.

Furnishings and decor are tasteful, comfortable, and perfect for enjoying the large family room TV on the rare occasion when you won't want to be out exploring Vail and the pleasant surroundings. We slept like babies on the super comfortable bed.

Thank you, Kari, for your great hospitality and for exceeding our expectations in such a well priced, beautifully updated home. We can't wait to return to Johnson Ski House during ski season!

Very nice - Wonderful setting

A wonderful updated property. A gem of a location - directly on Gore Creek. A perfect place to fish, play in the water, or just relax. The townhouse is spacious and has had many key upgrades, including updated kitchen and bathrooms. There is a huge living room with a gas fireplace and big-screen TV. The two bedrooms upstairs have comfy King size beds. The kitchen is fully equipped. The unit is only a 100-foot walk from the Ptarmigan bus stop - the Vail West red and green bus lines go directly to Vail Village. The indoor hot tub is a 50-foot walk from the townhouse. The townhouse has plenty of comfy sheets, pillow and towels. If you do muddy outdoors activities, there is a garden hose in the front to help you clean off.

Kari bent over backwards for us, texting us numerous times to check in and to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a great time and plan to return here next year.

My only criticisms:

- Air flow upstairs is a bit challenging. Remember that you are in Colorado, and no one has central air conditioning. Downstairs, the breeze from the creek blows through the townhouse nicely. Upstairs, you need to play with the fans, windows and doors to get the air to move. But this is relatively easy to do.

- The loft was a bit sparse and claustrophobic (low ceiling, no window). My son was initially excited about sleeping in the loft but begged out after checking it out. He slept on the (very nice) futon on the second floor landing instead. If you have 4-5 persons in your group, this will not be a problem. If you are counting on the loft for additional bed space, you might want to check it out first.

We loved it! It is quiet, located right by the creek and swimming pool, and very well stocked! We had everything we needed (and then some!). The furnishings were very, very nice (and the beds extremely comfortable). There were seven of us, and we had plenty of space. The laundry facilities, three big-screen tv's (plus another tv in the loft), etc., etc. made for a very enjoyable stay!

Clean and comfortable with all the comforts of home

Very nice condo with great amenities and lovely river in back to sit by and enjoy. Everything you need here and more. Super nice owner. Very good public transport as well and only steps from condo. Highly recommend this spot and will return this winter.

Well appointed and stocked townhouse in a peaceful location by Gore Creek

We absolutely loved the townhome. The highlight for us was the location by the creek. The weather was such that we were able to keep the patio door to the deck open and hear the water in the creek flowing by. We really enjoyed relaxing on the patio. The layout was great and was supplied with most of the basics that we needed. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. While it was only two of us, we could have comfortably had our family of four with room to spare. There also is a bus stop right at the complex making it easy to get around without a car. We also loved that a bike trail connecting us to all the key areas was very close as well. We really didn't want to leave and look forward to coming back soon.
