The Sunshine Coast is a 40 minute ferry ride from Vancouver. Experience coastal living in this tastefully renovated 1000 sq. ft. waterfront cottage just steps from your own private south facing beach. The cottage itself is only a five minute drive from the ferry, but its seclusion will surprise you.
With the 100+ year old Arbutus tree, almost daily wildlife visits, and no shortage of amenities, you will be immersed in nature without compromising comfort. Breathtaking views of the Popham Islands in the foreground and Vancouver in the background. Feel at home with complete privacy and simple comfort in this historic living space.
A convenient vacation destination, discover your Sunshine Coast personality with magnificent access to year round activities, nearby restaurants, the public market and local shops. Wake to the sounds of seals slapping in the water, birds singing and eagles calling. The sun room provides a restful dining space overlooking one of the oldest Arbutus trees on the coast. The natural surroundings are home to our resident deer, who frequently visit on their way to the beach. Whales and Orcas make guest appearances, depending on the time of year. Storm watching right from the living room will literally blow you away.
Relax with a book on the day bed and look at the amazing view or walk 200 steps from the back yard, down the meandering forest trail and you will have the entire beach to yourselves for suntanning, swimming or beach combing. At the end of the day have a soak in the tub, unwind in front of the cosy fireplace and enjoy dinner overlooking the water where the afternoon sun filters through 150 year old Coniferous trees and mature gardens.
When you are ready to retreat to the bedroom you will be instantly relaxed by the calming sound of waves crashing on the beach.

About Vanessa K.
We met in Deep Cove, North Vancouver in 1991 and fell in love with each other, surrounded by the mountains, ocean and temperate rain forests of British Columbia. After travelling, school, and all the big milestones that one passes in their thirties, we settled on the Sunshine Coast in 2008. As vacationers, we rent using VRBO and enjoy having a home away from home.
Vanessa K. purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Vanessa K. chose Gibsons
Steve and I always dreamt of owning waterfront. This location is close to everything, but private enough to enjoy a quiet lifestyle. The property has a lot of history for the area and the timing was perfect for us.
What makes this Cottage unique
Built in 1936 by Mr. Kelly himself, this cottage has many unique features. Cpt. William E. Kelly from the Isle of Mann. had civil and mechanical engineering degrees. Kelly Road was named after him. He was Weyerhauser's Superintendent in Washington in 1932. Walking down to the front door you will immediately notice a mature and meandering garden landscape. Inside the beach chic designed cottage the original Douglas fir flooring and panelling was restored. A Manx inscription on the arts and craft mantle describes his perspective about life on the Sunshine Coast. You have your own private forested trail, 200 steps to the beach below. Breakfast in the sunroom over looking one of the oldest Arbutus trees in the area provides a living space set in nature.

Facilities were good however the outdoors is overgrown and could use some pruning for a better view
Nice area to visit, it was fun to see dolphins and otters playing in the water!
Very Cozy Cabin
We stayed at the cabin for 4 nights and definitely enjoyed our time there. The cabin is very cozy and overlooks a trail down to the beach which is quite private. Everything you need is provided for at the cabin and the surrounding areas are very pretty. We visited a couple of cute towns and hiked several of the trails while we were there. The place is very restful and we would definitely come back to Gibsons in the future. Thanks, Vanessa and Steve. P.S. They have a really sweet dog.
The house was beautiful and the location was great. We liked the beach and the fire pit.
Relaxing and quiet to regroup
I booked extra days than intended. Weather changes during April day to day. Go out when sunny and hunker down with a book. It is still beautiful and great view.

Perfect place for relax
The cottage is very cozy with amazing view. We loved private access to the beach. Vanessa was very helpful. This is a great place stay!!
We needed a short, quiet getaway and that is exactly what we got! The cottage was quiet, clean and had everything we wanted. The view is spectacular - we enjoyed watching a pod of Orca Whales while drinking our morning coffee on the first day there - and the electric fireplace added to the comfort and ambiance. Vanessa was helpful and responded to queries quickly. Gibsons and Sechelt are lovely communities, worth a visit. While the beach is a bit of trek down a path, it is secluded and beautiful.
South facing from Gower Point to the Popham, Pasley and Worlcombe Islands.
