About the property

Approx. 1300 Sq.ft of Log Cabin Comfort, 2BR, with Amazing Mtn Views.

Aaahhhh! The mountain view!!!! This is why you visit the Smoky Mountains, isn't it? Well, this is what you get when you stay at 'Mountain Memories as well as an old fashioned feel.

Our cozy 'Heritage Log Home' has been named 'Mountain Memories' because that is what we hope to give you when you stay at our cabin. We wanted to make you remember the history and memories of 'the good old days' and also to build your new memories. The beautiful, huge square logs and cathedral ceiling with exposed beams give you that feeling of our Appalachian ancestor's lifestyle. We've carefully decorated with a few antiques that would have been used in these mountains in the early days to give the cabin the 'old timey' feel.

'Mountain Memories' has 2 beautifully decorated bedrooms, though the upstairs (queen bed) is a loft bedroom and is only semi-private. This bedroom area cannot be seen from down below so, the cabin is actually suitable for two couples or a family of four. The master bedroom is downstairs and has a king sized bed. We have chosen high count cotton sheets and comfy mattresses for your sleep comfort. The downstairs BR has a full bath and the loft bedroom has a full bath but no shower. (jucuzzi type tub for two).

Sit in the hot tub enjoying the mountain views while a light snow falls! Maybe a game of pool in the evening after coming in from a long day of sightseeing or hiking would be what you'd like to do. Or perhaps you could just enjoy some enchanted evening by the 'real wood-burning' fireplace watching a good movie on the flat screen or maybe reading a good book. Whatever you enjoy doing, your Mountain Memories' can be made here.

The Village of Cobbly Nob:

Cobbly Nob is a village that consists of homes hidden on a mountain just outside of the Smoky Mountain National Park and is located in a village off of 321 East about 6 miles east of Gatlinburg city limits. Though the village it is not 'gated' it has a gatehouse at the entrance and 24 You can be at all the attractions in Pigeon Forge within 20 minutes or so and enjoy the most beautiful drive getting there. The road is not very curvy toward Gatlinburg and there is also a close entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park (Greenbriar entrance) only 5 miles from the cabin on the way. This entrance is perfect for a lovely drive along the creek or hiking to a waterfall.

Down the hill from the cabin is the 18 hole Bent Creek Golf couse. So, if golf is your thing, it's right there for you. Cobbly Nob has 3 pools for the owners and their guests. There is also a small store with grocery items and a cafe. And, if you should be there when a snow falls, they have a road crew that clears and salts the roads so there's no worry of getting snowed in for long.

The lots are larger than what are found in most mountain home/cabin communities so the homes in there are in more 'private settings'. Only one house can be seen easily from the least in the summer. Woods are on one side and also in the back of the cabin. The paved driveway is almost level so there's easy access from the street. If you choose 'Mountain Memories' for your vacation, you will surely be making your own 'Mountain Memories'.

About Colleen Totsch

We are Jeff and Colleen Totsch and have been married for 38 years. We've always made a point to take time to get away for quality time alone with each other or with our 4 children while they were growing up. We finally got to a point in our lives where we could afford to buy a little piece of HEAVEN in the MOUNTAINS. It is our hope that you will build wonderful memories while staying at our log cabin in the Smokies that you will treasure for years to come.

Colleen Totsch purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Colleen Totsch chose East

The mountain views and condition of the cabin were amazing! We felt it had all the 'ingredients' for that 'Smoky Mountain Experience'. Plus, Cobbly Nob isn't just any community. It runs along the northern border of the Smoky Mountain National Park so your views are natural Mountain views. And Cobbly Nob has it own road maintenance crew. If it snows, they maintain and plow the roads so you won't need to worry about not being able to get home in time to get back to work . I knew this would be a real important asset to a vacation property.

What makes this cabin unique

Real 'Heritage' log home, cozy but very roomy for a family of 4. Located in the wonderful community of Cobbly Nob. Has easy access, street/snow maintenance and security.

Peaceful Getaway

Phenomenal place to get away with the gf. We just wanted a place to spend time with eachother and this place had everything we wanted - place to cook, play cards, get in the hot tub, play pool and listen to music and watch the Cubs win the World Series. We drove the car to a trail head and hiked for a day through the fall foliage as well. Would easily come back (don't be surprised!)!

Amazingly Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This property is amazing! It has an amazing view of the mountains, all the amenities one could ask for and the home is immaculate while still maintaining that cozy home atmosphere. The property owners are quick to respond in case of problems and are also very accommodating when necessary. The location is also perfect. Just far enough away to be private, but also close enough in so that you have access to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. When you wish to get away from home and relax... this is the only place to go! I will certainly be sure to return.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I celebrated out 6th wedding anniversary in Gatlinburg (our 3rd anniversary trip there) and our experience was wonderful as usual. We really enjoyed the location of this cabin for its quiet and calm qualities, with about a 15 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg. We have stayed in Cobbly Nob before, so we were aware of the distance. There were a few wild turkeys in the back yard on the first day, which I found very exciting!

The property was just as the listing described, with wonderful decor celebrating my favorite mountain animal...the bear. The heat worked well, and we had zero problems with the hot water as others have mentioned in previous reviews. I LOVED the nearby Cobbly Nob cafe, which delivered pizza right to our front door. They also have a great low carb menu that I enjoyed two days later...try the low carb pizza casserole and wings (soooooo delicious).

There was an overwhelming amount of ladybugs in the cabin (dead and alive), but this was explained by an info flyer on the refrigerator which basically talked about the introduction of ladybugs into the forest for some benefit that I can't remember. They did not bother me (I rather like ladybugs), I just swept them up.

The main thing that did not meet my expectations was the amount of dust and cobwebs throughout the cabin. We were literally walking through them on day one, and they were the point where I just had to get a dry rag and start dusting. The cabin WAS clean, just not fresh if that makes sense. A visit from the cleaning personnel to freshen things up the day before would be very beneficial...especially if it's been about a week since the cabin has been occupied. Additionally, a few minor things could stand to be replaced such as blinds and old table place mats. We couldn't get the cable box upstairs to work (seemed to be different provider than downstairs, which was strange) while playing pool, so we just listened to music...but that was a rather sizable disappointment. Lastly, I would have LOVED for the cabin to have some seasonal decorations, but now I'm just being plain!

Overall, I would recommend this cabin for the location, price, experience, and owner's courtesy. As far as the damage deposit, I have yet to receive it at now exactly 14 days after check out...but I'm sure it's coming. :)

Loved it!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin! It was comfortable and relaxing , we felt right at home. It was nicely decorated and there were even Christmas decorations throughout the cabin and a Christmas tree ,which made it feel even cozier. The owner was wonderful to work with and the place was easy to find The view from the cabin was absolutely beautiful. Most importantly, the cabin was very clean!! I have run a cleaning business for thirty years so I am extremely picky and hard to please. I was completely satisfied with the cabin. We didn't want to leave "Mountain Memories" and would love to go back if we ever get the chance

Poor Conditions, Couldn't Stay.

  • 1 of 5

My new wife and I decided to stay at this cabin for our honeymoon. We had trouble finding the property, due to a cabin with the same name located 2 houses down. We arrived in the dark to no porch light on (the bulb appered to be out), and the sounds of an animal outside. When we entered the cabin we initially noticed some dead bugs on the floor. Upon walking through the property it became apparent that there were hundreds of dead bugs throughout the cabin. I went out to the back where the hot tub was located only to find that there was no power to the hotub. While attempting to turn the hotub on I could here the animal again. This time the animal made a vocalization and it became apparent that it was a black bear that I was unable to see while walking up to the cabin due to the porch light being out. At this point I went back into the cabin and noticed the cobwebs on the wall and even more dead bugs in the sink. I was no longer conviced this cabin was properly cleaned and had decided not to stay. We called the owner and were told that this kind of bug problem was normal (we have stayed in cabins before. It's not normal). She also told us that she would get us a refund, but it would only be partial. We left. About 20 minutes later my new wife got a text from the owner. She replied sending a picture of some of the dead bugs and requested a 50% refund. It's at this point that the owner informed us that she would only give us a refund if she was able to rebook the cabin. The only refund we received was for the damage deposit. I will not stay at any property of this owner's again.

Owner's Response: I'm terribly sorry that the lady bugs were bad when this couple arrived. This time of year most the cabins have problems with them getting in, especially in wooded settings. I have a sign on the refrigerator that was actually posted by a former rental company explaining about the lady bugs...that it doesn't mean they haven't cleaned. The cabin had been cleaned after the last guest had departed but it had been several days since the last guest and I guess this gave the lady bugs time to accumulate. (mostly near doors and windows) They only come during the early part of the winter months. My cleaning lady did say that this winter they are worse than usual. Spider webs are another common problem. These spiders are almost invisible and you can spray and they will still come in and make their webs. They have to be knocked down on a pretty regular basis to be discouraged. Ask any exterminator and he will tell you that a spider has to be sprayed directly to kill. I offered having my cleaning people come right away and sweep up lady bugs but they wouldn't have it. I also told them the hot tub only needed to have the button reset and it would start but they said they would rather leave. I told them I couldn't make them stay. I also told them I most likely couldn't give them a refund but would think about this first after talking to my cleaning people. I can't book a reservation and give a refund just because the guest decides to leave. I did say that I would give a partial refund if I could re-book their days (which I was unable to do) All my other guests really love the place and I've never run into a problem like this before. I had my cleaning company go by the place the very next day to check how bad the lady bugs were and they said they were there but not as bad as the guest had made out, and not as bad as some other cabins. I personally drove up 11 hours to check on the property and the hot tub worked perfectly only needing the reset button to be pushed. I wish to make all of our guests happy but giving a refund because you choose to leave, refusing to allow me to correct a problem is not an option. I hope anyone reading this will see that I have great reviews and not let one bad one affect their decision to book. The owner, Colleen Totsch.

We loved Mountain Memories! It was super cozy and very comfortable for our family. The kids loved it so much they wanted to move in :) There is only one cabin in site from this cabin. It was very quite. I would definitely recommend staying at Mountain Memories. Just plan to space out your showers or bathes. The hot water only last for two quick showers which is normally. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
