Welcome to the Sea Shanty! This laid-back beach cottage is the perfect place to unwind on Hatteras Island. The beach is just up the street, and you're close enough to run home for a snack, beverage, or short break from the sun. Crabbing, chartered fishing and scuba boats are just across the Village on the expansive Pamlico Sound. Both the Hatteras Village Park and Hatteras Landing, featuring shopping, marinas, and dining, are nearby. Plus, the free ferry to Ocracoke is an easy walk from the Sea Shanty. A short distance more takes you to the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum and Ramp 55 to the ends of the island.

Outside, you'll appreciate the covered deck, sporting cheerful string lights and new decking. The stairs lead directly to the beach, just a few houses down. Wildlife abounds, with lots of greenery and estuaries nearby…you're sure to spot the local deer among the sea oats on the dunes, brown pelicans and other sea birds, nesting sea turtles, and so much more on the shore. After a visit to the beach, rinse off in the well-lit, hot-water outdoor shower before stepping inside.

Inside the Sea Shanty, you'll find an open living space with plenty of room to gather. The well-equipped kitchen features everything you need to sauté, bake, grill, or boil. Make memories at the extra-large dining table over coffee or an ice-cold beer. Break out a puzzle, board game, or cards – poker, anyone? – to occupy your evenings after a home-cooked seafood boil or a visit to one of Hatteras' award-winning seafood restaurants. At the end of the night, three bedrooms await, all with new streaming TVs and new mattresses. Rest assured the Sea Shanty will be a relaxing and comfortable cottage for your vacation to the wild winds and blowing sands of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore!

Over all it was good

We enjoyed the stay. There was a smell that we didn’t understand but it was nothing we could not over come. The beach was beautiful and the neighborhood was good.

Quiet family getaway

The proximity to a *private* (read: no public parking) beach access can’t be beat! We needed a restful week away from crowds and traffic — this was perfect. The house was the perfect size for our family of four. A lovely, lovely week.

Paying for location. House was ok.

The location was great. Just a couple minute walk to a great beach. The house was enough room for a family of 5. It was clean upon arrival, however there was not a single bit of toilet paper in the house. After a long drive, that was an unpleasant find. The house is basic, older and needs a few updates and maintenance. The beds were comfortable, but the couch was not. We felt the only real value to this property is its location.

The stay was great! The house is great. My only problem is the check-in being 6pm. It is a long drive to wait extra hours to get in the house to change, unload, and enjoy the beach. This is mainly with Vacasa and not the host. We were informed that once the house is ready they will let us know to go in, that wasn't the case as I was expecting the email and SMS that Vacasa rep talked to me about. I think it is also important to have the host/owner phone number. There were things that we were unfamiliar how to use but they were figured out. Great little house.
