We loved our short stay at Heart Song. It was a blissful retreat, and we wish we could have stayed longer than two days.
2 night stay. only about 20 mins north of Fort Bragg. Had a great time.
Home is very well built, great view from the reverse living second floor.
The house has 2 very large bedrooms downstairs but the front bedroom appears to be an addition which also has the front door. The back master has a large bed, bathroom and a day bed with 2 separate but very comfortable mattresses. To clear up any confusion both bedrooms have a door so you can have your privacy and still access the main floor upstairs thru a separate stairs.
I liked it and would stay here again. Pet friendly and no pet odor whatsoever.
Kitchen is well stocked. There is a small store just 1/2 block away with wine, beer and some food items if needed.
No access to the beach below. Deck, hot tub and upstairs porch made up for it.
Wi-Fi is very slow but works well for e mail and looking at facebook. Video streaming has alot of buffering. No cell service at the home unless on Wi-Fi calling. They do have a land line.
I would stay here again - very nice home. Thanks
What a lovely place to call home for a few days....We will forever be enchanted by this little slice of nirvana!!!
Awesome view...peaceful getaway
This cottage was everything as advertised . Westport is a sleepy little town, and a great place for a relaxing getaway. There is a small grocery store within walking distance , as well as a nice restaurant that had live music on the Saturday night we were there.
The cottage had multiple decks, all with an outstanding view over the ocean. There are both charcoal and gas grills, to cook up a great meal, and the kitchen has everything you need, including spices, which is rare in vacation rentals. (Bring your own coffee...but there is a coffee maker and filters) The are two private bedrooms, and one of those has an additional bed. One of the reviews I read, mentioned the bedrooms are not private, because the front door of the cottage enters into one of them, and the bed is tucked behind a room divider. The master bedroom has the back deck off of it, so you would need to walk through there to get out back...so technically they are correct, but it felt like two private rooms to me, and once you are out of bed, it doesn't matter at all. The beds were very comfortable, linens and towels were all good quality.
My favorite spot to enjoy the view was sitting in the hot tub on the back deck...it doesn't get much better than that.
If you are looking for a quiet retreat, with everything you need for a peaceful stay, and within 30 minutes to Ft Bragg and Mendocino, for more fun stuff to do and see...then this is a great choice.
Wonderful, everything we wanted and more
The whales were putting on an incredible show and we got some great videos. It was such a pleasure to just sit on the deck and relax watching the spectacular view of the ocean. Westport Beach was a very short walk and the kids loved how easy it is to get there. The house was perfect, especially having the two full bathrooms. Thanks for putting the board games in the house. We played Clue and Scrabble with the kids and they loved it. We all fell asleep every night listening to the sound of the ocean and we all slept so well. This is the second time we have rented this house and it will definitely not be the last.
The views at this home are amazing! The "bedrooms" are not bedrooms. The "master bedroom" is a large open room on the main floor that is separated from the room with the daybed. The second "bedroom" with the queen bed is where it looks like it was originally a front patio that they have closed off and is separated from the front entry by furniture. The floors are tile down stairs and even in July the temperatures are in the mid 60's during the day and cooler at night...those floors get cold. The bedding was very soft and warm with lots of extra blankets and extra pillows. We had never been to Westport and found it to be very nice and quaint. It would have been nice to have a good know section in the binder at the house to let you know where the closest beaches are, the public access to the rocky beach right by the house with some great tidepools, restaurants, etc. The deck needs to be resealed so be careful if you go out there without shoes on, we had splinters. Also, the deck needs to be updated. It is not safe for children. The space between the slats is too wide and our daughter kept trying to stick her head through and would fit her whole body. At 3 she didn't really understand why she couldn't go out on the deck without adult supervision. The VCR had a tape that was stuck in it so we didn't use it. The heater upstairs does a nice job keeping the room warm, especially first thing in the morning and later at night when you have the doors open. The kitchen is tight with with large table in the middle. There is no triangle to work with because are always sliding from one side to the other. Two people cannot move back and forth freely. The freezer smells horrible and we couldn't keep anything in there or even open it. The pine trees are hanging rather low in the front and we ended up with sap on the roof of our SUV because we had two vehicles to park. This is a great property and we did really enjoy staying here. I wish that the bedrooms were actual bedrooms and had some doors for privacy. Otherwise, this was a great place to digital detox for the weekend and we wish that we had more time. I hope to come back next year.
