Suites of Dreams in Corolla Light. Three King Master Suites, Impeccably Yours

Listen to the waves crash on the beach from your getaway jewel of a beach house. Corolla Light guests enjoy private beach access with walkways over the dunes, and the most beautiful, clean, and beckoning beach on the Outer Banks. Corolla Light Resort is loaded with amenities. Enjoy a drink or evening out at the only oceanfront restaurant on the Northern Beaches.

Back at the house, three King ensuites (one on each level) mean ultimate comfort and privacy. In all, five bedrooms and bathrooms will welcome a maximum of 12 guests. A hot tub, screened dining porch and Weber gas BBQ grill plus all kitchen needs (yes, we have a Keurig!) will please the crowd. A big hit with our family is a 60" HD TV in the great room, plus the comfort of a HUGE sectional sofa from which to select your viewing. Escape to a den with another big screen TV, lounge in the hammock, or sunbathe on the wraparound decks. The beds are comfortable, the decor is understated, the community is the best on the Outer Banks. Life is good at the beach, and BETTER THAN THE REST AT COROLLA LIGHT RESORT. Beach Parfait awaits your arrival.

About Barbara Thomas

Our single family house was custom built, and with loving attention to upkeep and upgrades, is as good as new all the time. Beach Parfait is the perfect place for our family, and we're sure you will love it, too.

Parfait means perfect in French, and you will see French influences in the decor and art. One of our dear family friends is a French artist from Provence. We love displaying her work, as well as the original work of other friends, around the house.

We are a tri-coastal family (Virginia, Washington State, and England), and Beach Parfait is our go-to place for us and our friends to reconnect. Here we have celebrated weddings (daughter Carolyn was married on the beach at the end of our street), birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, college reunions, new babies, you name it. Our family now includes four grandchildren, and we enjoy taking them to the beach, pool, and playground, riding bikes, playing bocce in the large side yard, and building memories. Ellie, the oldest, even made up a song for the long, long ride from her house to Beach Parfait (two hours, but to her it seems to take an eternity to get there!).

The open plan of the third floor great room makes it our gathering place. We all like to cook, and the kitchen is outfitted with just about everything you would have at home. With our fondness for seafood, and plenty of it in the stores nearby, we look forward to steamer pots and fish on the grill as we drive to the beach.

We are all about comfort, and have paid special attention to the quality of lighting, beds and seating. We recently added a pergola on the ocean side, and it is another great gathering place. At night, we all cozy up on the massive sectional sofa for games or TV.

We love to travel to foreign destinations, but what we love best is to come home to Beach Parfait.

We hope you enjoy our happy place as much as we do!

The Thomas, Fetsch, and McKendree families!

Barbara Thomas purchased this house in 1990

Why Barbara Thomas chose Corolla Light

We have played and raised our families on the Northern Beaches since the 1960's, and had building lots in both the Whalehead community and up in the 4WD country. We purchased our lot in the community of Corolla Light when the first sales sign went up, mainly because of the planned amenities. The Resort was designed to provide a first class experience from the very beginning. We think it's the same with our house -- the comfort and interiors of a five-star hotel with all the necessities, (without all the tacky beach decor). Corolla Light was at the end of the earth back then, and you still get that feeling of relaxation, although now we have all the modern conveniences. There is free wireless internet, DirectTV to catch the big game, Netflix for catching a movie, top of the line large capacity washer and dryer, dishwasher and disposer, a Keurig coffeemaker, a slow cooker, seafood steamer, hot tub, outdoor shower, top-rated Weber gas grill, original art, and plenty of outdoor seating. Shaded by the pergola on the oceanside, the large wraparound deck is the perfect place to have your morning coffee while listening to the waves crash on the beach, and the screened porch is great for al fresco dining. A large native oak tree is just off the porch, so it feels as if you're dining in a tree house! I love listening to the Carolina mockingbirds who nest in a tree across the street.

We are not absentee owners. Since the '60's, we have spent lots of time and made lots of memories here as our children grew up, and had children of their own. We use the house ourselves, don't lock everything away, and keep it in tip top shape.

It's important for you to know that our caretakers are a local couple, just a phone call away, should you need anything at all. It's not coincidence that her name is Angel!

What makes this house unique

Take a cup of coffee to enjoy the sunrise from our east-facing deck. Pour a glass of wine for a sundowner on the sound side dock in the other direction: Take the walking trail across Hwy 12 to the Currituck Sound, turn right and you will see a dock extending out into the water. Watch for the "green flash" as the sun goes down across the water.

Fall in love again at Beach Parfait. The master suite (one of three) on the top floor offers a soaking tub. Light a candle and relax in privacy.

Visit nearby historic Whalehead Club, a private home on the National Register of Historic Places now open to the public, and say hello to the antique twin beds we donated, which were in our family for decades and just the right style that would have been in the home during its heyday as a private residence in the early 1900's. Enjoy the splendid NC Center for Wildlife Education, stroll quaint Corolla Village (say "YES!" to some BBQ made and sold from the old Corolla Post Office), climb Currituck Lighthouse for amazing views, or walk for miles and miles on the most pristine beaches of the Outer Banks. Stop by our popular Corolla village public library to make a copy, or send a fax. Check out their selection of great used books. There is an amazing Bookstore in the village as well.

Play golf at the Currituck Club and take advantage of special prices, or see the wild horses from an SUV courtesy of the Wild Horse Fund.

No need to waste precious vacation time standing in a line to check in. Our house is equipped with a cypher lock on the ground floor entry door. Before check-in, you will let us know what key code you would like to use (usually the last 4 numbers of your mobile phone); then just show up with your groceries and make yourselves at home.

If that's not enough to convince you that Beach Parfait might just be perfect for you, read the reviews here on VRBO from other families who have chosen Beach Parfait for their Outer Banks vacation. We look forward to welcoming you

it was all we hoped for and more - perfect community and lots of amenities.

The house is great with retreats on each level - well designed and comfy throughout and we enjoyed the wonderful decking.

Trolley stop #18 is two doors down, and means you never have to walk or drive your car to go anywhere on the Resort. Corolla Light has won the title "North Carolina Resort Community of the Year" so many times we've stopped counting. Come to the beach prepared to relax and enjoy yourself. We know personally a great massage therapist and a reflexologist. Ask for a referral when you book your vacation with us. *Certain activities may have a small charge for materials, and the indoor tennis courts are available for rental by the hour. There is a full-time tennis pro who offers lessons and clinics for a fee. Bring your rackets!

Great place, AGAIN!

  • 5 of 5

Third time staying here. This time for Thanksgiving and it was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone. Great open kitchen for cooking, nice comfortable rooms and the two floors of decks are just great. Beach is a short walk and 4x4 access is just a short drive. Barbara could not be more accommodating. Everyone had a wonderful time again and we hope to be back soon!

We loved our time at Beach Parfait

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Beach Parfait was a perfect choice for our family of 7 adults, one teen, and a 2 month old! The spacious layout gave everyone privacy, it was extremely clean, and it was beautifully decorated in classic beach cottage style. We especially enjoyed the short walk to the beach as we have previously rented homes on the Sound side. Additional bonus was communicating with Barbara, the owner, who was extremely responsive to emails and even a phone call we made about a health crisis that could have prevented us from making the trip. She was really super to work with. I highly recommend this home, and we would definitely choose it again.

Amazing get-away location with many amenities!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect beach house for big families having 3 floors with sleeping quarters allowed for privacy. Great if you have younger children because it is a short walk to the beach. We will definitely be back!! Ms Thomas was quick to reply to our questions. Our week did not have any glitches. The Corolla Light community has many activities and amenities as well

The house was nice. Good location.

  • 3 of 5

It was disappointing to have to bring extra things along with us like kitchen towels and soap, hand soap for all of the bathrooms, extra bath towel sets if we didn't want to have to do laundry. I had to bring an extra suitcase for all these things; at least the owner told me in an email that these things would be needed. I think basics like bathroom soap, washcloths, etc. should be provided.

Owner's Response: Dear Alice, Thank you for taking the time to review Beach Parfait after your vacation. To address your concerns, I should point out that info provided prior to your arrival noted the linen policy, and if you had asked, you could have had fresh towels delivered mid-week. Our wonderful cleaning crew, who are "the best on the beach", do not place soaps in the house. We put soap dispensers in each of the five bathrooms and the kitchen at the start of the season, but I cannot control how long they remain there. I have made a note to include soaps in the welcome, recyclable tote bag (yours to keep as a memento of your holiday), which includes paper products, an extra, fresh kitchen towel, and a box of Keurig coffee pods. I hope you will come back to Beach Parfait, and next time find our home deserves its five-star rating. Sincerely, Barbara, Homeowner

Great place, an absolute must for a family (lots of value for what you spend)

  • 4 of 5

Don't second guess, go with beach parfait! The place is exactly as the pictures show. We had a great time! The beach is only two blocks away (not a bad walk at all). Bicycling in the neighborhood is super fun and very kid friendly. Owner was super responsive and very kind. The community pool is perfect. We also enjoyed the hot tub and short walks over to the bay side. I would certainly stay here again!

North Carolina Resort Community of the Year for 10+ years, Corolla Light is a planned, gated community a world away from hectic city life. Its unparalleled location on the Atlantic flyway for migratory birds, situated at the north end of the Outer Banks of North Carolina, has amazing beaches and amenities in tip top condition.

Book an excursion with the Wild Horse Fund organization and ride on the beach a few miles north with a knowledgeable guide, to see wild horses, descendants of Spanish mustangs that survived shipwrecks, swam ashore and established a herd that still roams the dunes and beaches today. Visit a wildlife education center which offers great insight to the natural wonders around you. Climb our own lighthouse to the top for a spectacular view up and down the beach and out to sea. Visit the Whalehead Club (Mansion) to see how the upper crust lived when they came to Corolla for duck hunting long ago. Shop till you drop, refresh at the beer garden, and reserve a table at your choice of restaurants. Corolla Light Resort has the only oceanfront restaurant on the northern Outer Banks. Also within the resort, park your car and take the free shuttle anywhere you want to go, or walk 3 minutes to the Sound or Ocean. There is plenty to see and do right in Corolla.

The Outer Banks is also home to the National Monument commemorating the famous First Flight of the Wright Brothers. An educational program by Park Rangers provides an amazing day out. Go deep sea fishing from Oregon Inlet or parasail at Jockeys Ridge.

Or just do nothing. Our house has wraparound decks on two floors, perfect for reading or taking a nap in the hammock.

A week might not be enough!
