About this property

Gaia Lux Vacation & Retreat Center Grand Home for Family Reunions, Great for Ski

Who this home is perfect for

This home is especially well suited for:

Large families and multi-generational gatherings

Birthdays, wellness weekends, and intentional retreats

Groups who value comfort, beauty, and thoughtful design

This is a peaceful, well-cared-for home designed for connection and rest. It is not a party house and not a fit for loud or disruptive gatherings.

Location: close to town, surrounded by nature

The home is ideally located:

8 minutes from historic downtown Nevada City

15 minutes from Grass Valley

10 minutes from the Yuba River and swimming spots

You are surrounded by forests, hiking trails, lakes, and open sky, while still being close to wonderful restaurants, cafés, bars, music, and local culture.

Although we are in a residential area, the house sits on seven wooded acres and feels quiet, private, and tucked away once you arrive.

Every season brings something special:

Summer is lively and fun, with river days and warm evenings

Fall is dramatic and colorful

Winter brings light snow and cozy fires, without Tahoe-level intensity

Spring is green, fresh, and full of flowers

Comfort you can feel, everywhere

Comfort matters to us deeply. Not just how things look, but how they feel.

Beds are made with 1000-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, plush down pillows, and down blankets. Bathrooms are stocked with exceptionally soft Brooklinen spa-grade towels.

Furniture throughout the home was thoughtfully selected from RH, West Elm, Article, and Crate and Barrel. Everything is meant to be comfortable, durable, and welcoming. Nothing feels fragile or off-limits.

This is the kind of comfort that helps people relax faster and sleep better.

Sleeping arrangements for real groups

The house has 8 bedrooms and is designed to comfortably accommodate large groups.

Sleeping arrangements include:

5 king beds

2 full beds

4 twin beds

2 bunk beds

A sofa bed

A crib

Two additional rolling beds

There are 4 full bathrooms with both bathtubs and showers, which makes mornings and evenings much easier when many people are sharing the space.

Living, cooking, and being together

The main living room is open, inviting, and framed by forest views. It naturally becomes a gathering place for conversation, reading, music, and quiet moments together.

The chef’s kitchen is fully stocked with high-quality cookware, serveware, and tools. It is designed so cooking for a group feels joyful and easy. Many guests tell us some of their favorite moments happen around the kitchen island or dining table.

The speakeasy: a hidden favorite

Behind a discreet door along the stairway is a space that often becomes a highlight of the stay.

The speakeasy lounge is cozy, moody, and full of character. It includes:

A pool table

Velvet and leather seating

A fireplace

A full bar setup (bring your own alcohol)

A projector for movies, sports, and shared evenings

It is a place for laughter, long conversations, and memorable nights.

A home where kids are truly welcome

As parents, we know how much it matters when a home actually works for families.

This house was designed to make traveling with children easier and more enjoyable. You will find:

A large game room with books, board games, and video games

Two cheerful kids bedrooms

Toddler pillows and a bathroom stool

A pack and play with full bedding

Two toddler kitchen chairs

Kids utensils and thoughtful extras

The hot tub is covered and locked for child safety, so parents can relax more fully.

Outdoor living and hot tub

Step outside into quiet forest air. The hot tub comfortably fits eight people and is perfect after a hike, a river day, or a cool evening.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that no glass be used in or near the hot tub.

Thoughtful amenities, with care for people and the planet

We believe luxury should feel generous, not wasteful.

Instead of small disposable bottles, we provide full-size, refillable dispensers of ATTITUDE organic shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel.

Bathrooms are also stocked with:

Bamboo toothbrushes with organic toothpaste

Organic tampons

Soft bamboo toilet paper

Natural soaps and lavender bath salts

We clean the home using eco-friendly, non-toxic products and provide recycling, composting, and food scrap options. Our goal is for you to feel supported, comfortable, and at ease, without unnecessary waste.

Respect for nature, wildlife, and community

This is bear country, and we ask guests to be mindful about food outdoors and respectful of the wildlife that lives here.

Quiet hours are from 22:00 to 8:00, helping preserve the peaceful feeling of the home and neighborhood.

Music can be enjoyed indoors throughout the house. Outdoor noise monitoring helps keep sound at respectful levels.

Maximum vehicles allowed: 10.

We are truly happy to share this home with you and hope your time here feels restful, inspiring, and deeply nourishing

We stayed here as a group of 20 and it was exactly what we were hoping for. The house made it easy to actually be together. Big shared spaces for meals, conversations, and late nights, and enough room that everyone could relax without feeling on top of each other. It felt comfortable, welcoming, and set up for real family time.Nir and Liza were wonderful hosts. Communication was smooth and thoughtful, and everything was ready so we could just arrive and enjoy being together. No friction, no surprises. This is the kind of place that brings people together and lets you focus on the moments that matter. We would absolutely stay here again.

About the host

Welcome, and thank you for being here

We are Liza and Nir, partners for almost 30 years and proud parents of four. Hosting is one of our great joys, because we believe a stay should feel easy, thoughtful, and genuinely cared for.

This home was created for people who want to slow down, come together, and feel at home the moment they arrive. It is spacious enough for large families and groups, yet warm and intimate in the ways that matter most. Set on seven private acres just minutes from Nevada City, it offers a rare balance of nature, comfort, beauty, and ease.

We love people, art, food, music, and moments that feel real. That love lives in this house. We hope you feel it in the quiet comfort of the living room, in laughter over a drink in the speakeasy, or during a calm, candlelit evening by the fire.

Guests often tell us they leave feeling lighter, more connected, and deeply regenerated. That is our wish for you too. Settle in. Breathe. Enjoy with all your senses. Leave feeling cared for, inspired, and restored.

With warmth,
Liza and Nir
