A truly delightful place to stay.

Thank you David and Richard for making our family vacation such a wonderful experience. The house was lovely and had everything we needed and so much more! Our five year old son loved playing in the beautiful garden and also enjoyed the Alamo Square playground that was in walking distance. Getting around the city was a breeze from this location (lots of bus options). It was a very quiet neighbourhood for sleeping too. Highly recommended!

We Already Made Reservations For Our Return!!

Very comfortable, very well equipped, great location. Wonderful extras, including garage, garden (we ate lunch outside), and computer. Excellent "customer service" from David and Richard. We've already made a reservation for our return to San Francisco in November 2007.

A perfect home away from home!

David was the perfect host and his home in SF was impecible. Especially appreciated the indoor garage, furnished backyard and gourmet kitchen. David left copious information on what to see, where to eat and how get there - both on his website and at the house. Conveniently located to restaurants (our favorite being Central Park Bistro), mass transit, and most every activity SF has to offer. Can't wait to get back!

Enjoy San Fransisco as a local!

On vacation from England, this is our second stay in this great home in a fantastic neighbourhood. We are already thinking about visit number three, what more is there to say! We’re in the city to catch up on the latest “hot” restaurants, so being able to get everywhere by walking and the occasional evening bus is just what we need to keep up an appetite! Thank you David for a perfect stay. Tartine Foundary is a great addition on the food front.

Immediately at home

Thank you very much for your hospitality, I felt at home since the moment I first stepped into the house. It is beautiful, spacious, well maintained, clean and quiet. A perfect space for a relaxed and homely stay in San Francisco. All the "details" were much appreciated and added to the confort. Definitely recommended!

My wife, 2 teenage boys and I found David's home to be just as described in his ad. Clean, convenient, comfortable, private, safe, and a good value. We truly felt like we were 'home' while staying there. The garage size is also accurately described. The Ford Taurus we rented just barely fit!

Loved our San Francisco stay. David's home is a short walk from Golden Gate Park where the De Young Museum has free admission on the first Tuesday of each month! What a lucky coincidence for us!! A very relaxing place to come home to after touring the park ! My husband and I will definitely return (with sturdier walking shoes)!!

Could not have found a better place to stay!!!

Best place to stay in San Francisco!!! We went for our Honeymoon, and could not have chosen a better place to stay. It was very clean and located in the absolute center for everything you would want to do in San Francisco. Plus, it is located in a very affluent and safe neighborhood, with a grocery store and many of the city’s best restaurants within walking distance. David was so helpful the entire time (before and during our stay) and made sure that our experience was free of any worries. If (I mean when) we visit San Francisco again, we will definitely stay there again. BEST VACATION EVER!!!

We felt very much at home in the flat. The neighborhood felt very safe, it was centrally located, and quiet. The flat itself had space to spread out, depending on the mood. I loved the way you could open a cabinet or drawer and just the item you needed was stored there for your use.

Wonderful Wedding Stay

We stayed six nights related to our daughter's wedding in SF. The home exceeded our expectations. All was as described. Great location: walkability, access to bus transportation, grocery store, and restaurants. Clean and well-appointed. Owner provided extensive info. Very pleased with our experience; will definitely consider this property for future stays and have already recommended it to friends.

Excellent property----You will not be disappointed!!!!

Every detail has been thought through in this impeccably maintained home in a beautiful neighborhood. Art, books, a reclining chair with a lamp and blanket in the front room where you can relax alone. A charming private backyard where you can enjoy a quiet meal. My husband and I have rented homes about 15 times and have never experienced such a high level of property ownership and rental management. This was a great vacation home.

Great San Francisco Rental

This was our second time staying at this flat. Both times it was great. It is a much better value than a hotel. The flat has enough space for our family of four, has parking, and has all the comforts of home. It is located in a real neighborhood and is conveniently near a grocery store and bus stops. The listing description is very accurate. The property is very well organized, stocked with everything needed, and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and would stay here again myself.

Exceeded my expectations! Lovely flat & location

My husband, daughter and son-in-law stayed here for three nights over the 4th of July weekend, The flat is quite large, beautifully furnished, clean and has everything you need for cooking. In addition, there's was a parking garage for our vehicle. The garden out back was beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting in it and enjoying a glass of wine. The location was excellent as well. There was a short walk to a large grocery store and to bus stops. Once we got there we didn't drive at all. We walked to restaurants, Golden Gate Park, and Height Ashbury. This would be my first choice to stay in San Francisco.

Great place for family central during holidays

This apartment is a great place to stay and, in our case, a family central hangout for visiting relatives during a family reunion at Thanksgiving. We originally planned for three of us, parents and one 20 year old son to stay but when our daughters discovered the extra sofa bed, and the movie collection, not to mention the kitchen where we stocked the fridge, our family of five all stayed comfortably. The location is great- quiet and away from the bar buzz but near Golden Gate Park and on the central bus line. We also appreciate the parking space for a car which got us out to Marin etc. This is a home with books and art, beautiful garden and spaces, comfortable and great reasonable alternative to impersonal hotels. In the words of Governor S., "We'll be back."

We stayed in David’s comfortable home in March 2007. Fresh flowers greeted us and we felt like we were in our own home. What a fabulous location. The convenience of Albertson's Grocery in the next block and the Preferred Shopper’s card was fantastic. We hired a Dodge Caliber and it was a perfect fit in the garage and so convenient having off street parking and not having to worry about parking restrictions. Close to the city and Alamo Square. The kitchen had everything that you could think of, even down to herbs and spices. Computer let us keep up to date with the latest things back home. Will definitely be back and have already recommended it to many friends in Australia.

A most welcoming place to come home!

We were very impressed with your beautiful home! On entering we knew we would be extremely comfortable and we had loads to look at with all the lovely artworks. It turns out we arrived with the biggest storm of the year! It was great to have such a lovely place to come back to after big soakings!!! We walked miles and miles. One day we did your recommended walk via Land’s End from the walk book on the computer. It was very wet and windy but we survived. We were very, very comfortable in your home and hope to return one day. We took a supply of your refrigerator magnets and have already recommended your lovely home to friends and family! Absolutely wonderful home-away-from-home in great location

We had a fabulous 5-month stay in David's beautifully appointed San Francisco home! It is beautifully decorated, filled with every amenity we could think of, and truly felt like we were living in our own home. The backyard is an oasis of calm with lush landscaping, comfortable seating and hummingbirds. The kitchen is modern with great appliances and kitchenware. The bedroom is cozy, ultra comfortable and importantly, very quiet. There are 3 perfect places to eat: the large dining room, the kitchen table and the counter. With a family room AND a living room, there are so many places to relax and enjoy. The bonus: a laundry room AND a garage! David is an impeccable host...he is super responsive and just a pleasure to deal with, and always helpful with suggestions. Staying here was an overall perfect experience for us as we transitioned to relocating permanently to San Francisco!!! We couldn't recommend it more highly!

A San Francisco Jewel

From the moment you enter this gem of an apartment, you will feel you have entered a very special place, the furnishings are elegant yet homey and comfortable; much of the art work is gallery quality; the entermainment systems-both audio and video-is complete as is the computer/printer/wifi setup. the appliances are modern and well maintained. An excellent supermarket is one block away and public transport is close at hand. Several good bistro type restaurants are within walking distance. There are two "bonus" features that enhance the rental experience: a wonderful rear garden with exceptional plantings which is perfect for morning coffee or an evening cocktail and garage parking suitable for a compact car. David, the apartment owner, is an excellent host who clearly wants his guests to have an enjoyable stay. He exhibits a "pride of ownership" which is often lacking in the rental business. It is a pleasure to recommend his apartment as your home away from home in San Francisco. Stay and enjoy it!

A perfect home away from home

Why stay at a hotel when you can stay in comfort In this spacious apartment in a great location. The apartment has a good-size living room, a full dining room, a bedroom, and a family room adjacent to a roomy kitchen. Both the living room and family room have queen-sized pullout sofas. We stayed in this apartment with my son and daughter-in-law and felt we had lots of room. The home has everything you might ever need. The fully equipped kitchen had all types of small appliances, including blenders, juicers, assorted pots, and pans, and china. the family room had a computer as well as a fax machine. The beds were comfortable and the linens were very good. Even better, the apartment came with parking! The location was fantastic with a large Lucky grocery store a block away, a Starbucks, and lots of restaurants. Public transportation was also easily accessible. We truly felt we had struck gold with this artfully decorated apartment that had enough room for us to entertain friends and relatives while we were in SF.

Great vacation rental

My wife and I were there February 2019. I exchanged an email with David the day before we departed telling him how much we enjoyed his house and my wife comment regarding my email was I didn't rave enough. We read the reviews before we rented and we felt they were too good to be true. They weren't, they were true. The pictures of the house reflect the actual house, very attractive and very comfortable. Also it is very well located in terms of close to the town center and availability of public transportation. We walked to the town center or back from the town center a number of times. We were advised to purchase a "Clipper Card" which allows you to use the bus, train, cable car and trolley on a monthly single payment ($39.00 for seniors) basis. A telephone map app is very useful for figuring out how to get places using the transit systems. The comfort and location of the house, the convenience of the transit system the garage to leave your car and San Francisco combined t make our stay one of our best travel experiences.

Outstanding Rental Experience in San Francisco

From the beginning of the rental process, the owner was extremely responsive to questions and the logistics of renting, as well as making arrangements for arriving late in the evening. By the time we checked into the flat, it felt that he was a friend. He even refunded the security deposit within very few hours after we left. We have rented many flats and houses in Europe and the U.S. This one is clearly the best experience and best furnished of any. The flat is spacious, beautifully furnished with much original artwork, essentially new linens and towels, every appliance imaginable, a computer with Internet access, and telephone service. There were even snacks and coffee awaiting us. The garage is a plus - but be certain you do not bring a large automobile. The neighborhood is safe. There are a supermarket and public transportation within 1-1/2 blocks. There are a few excellent restaurants in the immediate area. It is very easy to get to all of the sights and restaurants of the city. The best things about this rental are the responsiveness of the owner, the spaciousness of the flat, the complete array of appliances, the computer and telephone access, and the garage. Nothing - and I repeat - nothing was lacking. Regarding the garage, be certain that you do not have a large automobile. I truly can think of anything negative about this property!

Beautiful place, convenient location, garage spot

My wife and two small children (1 and 3) stayed here on a business/pleasure trip to San Francisco. The location is very nice; close to a Lucky's grocery store, Golden Gate park, a restaurant, and a couple of bus stops. Having a garage at the house was really convenient; we didn't have to worry about parking at any point during our stay. [As the owners warn, the spot is small, so don't expect to pull a big SUV in. We had a new Camry, which I think is about the limit of what you can reasonably fit in there.] The house is listed as a 1 bedroom, but it has two living rooms in addition, each with a rollout bed, and with some amount of privacy available (one has a door that closes it from the other two sleeping areas, and the other has curtains). So you could easily sleep 6 at the house. Most of the house is very nicely updated and decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped: pots, pans, plates, bowls, silverware, cooking utensils, a great electric tea kettle, coffee maker, espresso machine, toaster oven, etc. The kitchen is a little oddly laid out, with the sink being somewhat far away from the range and refrigerator, and the kitchen is not as well updated as some of the house. But it is clean and has everything you need. One of the living areas had a very nice computer that came in handy for planning our days in San Francisco. There's also a nice, large TV with a DVD & BluRay player. There were also many books in the bookshelves around the house, with a little something for everyone. The shared patio is very nicely kept and could be very relaxing. It does not have much in the way of grass for kids to play in, but it's a very pleasant space. Next time I have business in San Francisco, I'll try to book here again. We had a wonderful stay.

We are glad to know you will book with us again - it is our best recommendation! Every year we do a big renovation project to keep the house up to date (new double-hung double-pane windows throughout, new crown molding and paint, etc.). Until we re-do the kitchen we make sure we provide all the major appliances and most smaller ones also to make sure you have all you need for cooking at home. Enjoy!

Comfortable and well-appointed home in the heart of San Francisco

This year was the first time I rented a whole flat for six weeks and I couldn't be more pleased about the experience. The home has a full complement of conveniences such as a fully equipped kitchen, washer dryer, computer, cable television and even garage parking. It is very attractive, clean and comfortable and can accommodate quite a few people although there were just two of us. The owner is extremely conscientious and responsive so, even though there is no face-to-face contact, any questions and concerns are promptly and efficiently addressed. My kids and grandkids did come over a bit and it was so fun to have such a nice place in which to gather. The location is ideal for touring San Francisco--we bought clipper cards for transit use and bussed and walked most of the peninsula. Bus use is so convenient from this location and leads to downtown, Japantown and Chinatown, east to the beaches, north to Fort Mason--virtually every direction. We also borrowed my daughter's car a few times for trips to East Bay and parked in the garage (although even the small Honda Fit must be maneuvered with great care to save the mirrors--but it's totally doable). This home is just blocks from Golden Gate Park and from east to west in the park, there is so much to appreciate. From interesting people in all manner of costume, to science and art museums, to the gorgeous botanical garden and AIDS Memorial to the many varieties of wildlife and water foul and the stunning cliffs and beaches--Golden Gate Park is an amazing resource. We so enjoyed it. From this home one can also access the Haight, Twin Peaks, the Castro, the Mission and points south. There is a grocery store one block away and many smaller specialty stores as well. There are coffee shops, restaurants of all kinds and many other resources within easy walking distance. If you're looking for an authentic and very comfortable San Francisco experience, this is your place. You will not be disappointed.

We have lived in the San Francisco area for almost 50 years and purchased our San Francisco home in 1999. In 2001 we began to spend time away and a friend suggested we try VRBO. We learned that people really enjoyed our home-like atmosphere. We are thrilled with the response we have gotten and we work hard to keep our new and returning guests contented and feeling cared for. Visitors say they appreciate our knowledge of the city and our professional attitude.

Most guests mention the feeling of a being in a real home as soon as they enter. We think this is because we still live there part of each year and keep the house comfortable and well maintained not only for our guests but for ourselves as well. We are also proud of our garden, keeping it maintained even while we are away. We paint, scrape, clean, renew, update and replace parts of the house every time we come to visit. We think it shows. Our guests certainly enjoy our home. Read the reviews! 170 Five Star ratings. We get these ratings not because everything is always perfect (we do try, however!) but because we go out of our way to help our guests settle in and feel at home and we respond quickly to any question. Finally, if you are bringing a car, you will absolutely love our little garage (for economy to mid-size cars). Parking rules in SF can make you dizzy. If you don't bring a car - great! - hop on the bus one block from the front door and head downtown or to the beach.
