We love Northern Michigan and have spent years enjoying everything this area has to offer. Higgins Lake has always been a favorite, especially time spent boating and being on the water. Sharing a place that lets others experience the same Up North lifestyle is what we enjoy most about hosting.

Why they chose this property

Tanbrook Chalet is located in a true Up North neighborhood with canopying oaks and pines that give it a classic northern Michigan feel. Higgins Lake is just minutes away, making it easy to spend summer days boating, swimming, or relaxing at the beach. Nearby Houghton Lake offers excellent fishing year round, including popular ice fishing during the winter months.

Trail access is a major highlight. Snowmobile and SxS riding is convenient, with the ability to leave from the house when conditions allow, or access the nearest trailhead just a few miles away for longer or more direct rides. Cross Country Ski Headquarters is nearby for winter skiing, and the trails at Marl Lake are great for hiking. The Cut River connects to Higgins Lake and offers a scenic route for kayaking through clear, calm water for guests who bring their own kayaks.

After a day outside, the property is set up for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. Sleeping comfort is a priority, with high quality bedding, plenty of pillows, and memory foam mattress toppers throughout the home. Every bedroom has TVs, portable fans, and bedside outlets with phone charging. Upstairs bedrooms include work desks or vanity space for getting ready or catching up on work. The bedroom with two beds includes privacy curtains for added flexibility. The living room sleeper sofa is set up as a true sleeping option, and a reading chair that converts into a single bed works well for a small child.

The hot tub is set up for year-round use and sits under a lighted, fully enclosed gazebo. Hot tub towels, robes, and slides are provided to make getting in and out comfortable in any season.
