Spectacular, Mountainside Log Home. A perfect getaway with family or friends!

This amazing log home is best suited for people who love the the outdoors. This property is so appealing because it is in a perfect location. It is 10 minutes away from Route 93, 20 minutes to Squam Lake and if you head North, it is another short 20 minutes to all the activities the White Mountains have to offer. The log home is situated mountainside on five acres of beautiful, pristine forest with a small mountain stream and winter views of the Sandwich range. In the summer it has a cozy and magical treehouse-like feel with the woods edge coming very near to the house. Even though there are neighbors close by, you really feel like you are the only one around! It is not unusual to see a flock of wild turkeys strutting by outside a window or to see moose and deer tracks on the snow!

This home was designed by the owner who is an architectural and interior designer. Much thought was given to the way the house functions with a group of active people wanting to enjoy this amazing area! Our goal is to make your stay easy and enjoyable and to have you make happy memories with family and friends that you will remember for years to come!

As you enter the lower level from the outdoors, there is a mudroom with many hooks to hang up coats and a bench for putting on shoes. Adjacent to the mudroom, there is a huge gear room for all of your outdoor equipment. This includes a packing table, cubbies for storage, racks and pegs for skis, helmets, snowshoes, climbing equipment and backpacks. There is also plenty of floorspace for golf bags! This floor also has a large Family Room with a couch, two oversized chairs with ottomans, a flat screen TV, dartboard, ping-pong table and a classic rough-sawn lumber bar with 3 bar stools.

The middle floor has an open floor plan that includes a Livingroom with a large 'L' shaped sofa and a Diningroom with a table that seats 6-8 people, all under a tall cathedral ceiling with clerestory windows. Visible from both rooms there is a very large custom designed 'real' stone wood burning fireplace with a raised bluestone hearth for sitting and enjoying the heat from the flames or drying mittens!. There is a large sliding door between the Livingroom and Diningroom to go out onto the wrap around porch with a picnic table that looks over the stream, footbridge and woods. There is an additional door in the living room that has direct access to the covered section of the porch with rocking chairs. The kitchen is open to the Livingroom and Diningroom has beautiful custom pine cabinetry, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, microwave, built-in french door refrigerator, custom wine rack and an island with 4 bar stools. On this floor there is a Queen bed guest room and a guest room with 2 twin beds. There is also a full bath with a single bowl vanity with a granite countertop and tub/shower combination unit and toilet. The washer and dryer are also located on this floor in a convenient hall closet.

Upstairs there is a cozy loft with a loveseat (that pulls out to twin size bed) and classic Adirondack lounging chair with a leather ottoman. This area has a flat screen TV and bookcase with a variety of DVD's, books and trail guides. This is the perfect place to curl up with a book, watch your favorite movie or plan your next hike. This level also includes the Master Bedroom. The Master bedroom has a king sized log bed. Adjacent to this room is a small bedroom with bunk beds. It has a window that overlooks the stream and woods. The Master bathroom is located directly off the master bedroom and includes a single bowl vanity with a granite countertop, tub/shower enclosure and a separate toilet area.

Outside there is a large fire pit with benches as well as a raised log bar for drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Here you will also find a Weber charcoal grille. A short walk from here you can walk across the bridge to a trail that follows the stream up the mountain. This trail connects to many trails behind our property. If you head the other direction, the horseshoe pit is a short 30 feet away.

If you decide to take a walk or jog during your stay here, you can walk to a beautiful covered bridge which is only 100 yards from the driveway. If you pass over the bridge, it will lead you by a beautiful horse farm. If you decide to continue, it's a scenic 3 mile loop back to our cabin. Perch Pond is another scenic walk/jog destination. At the bottom of our driveway go to the right and Perch Pond is 1.8 miles down on the left side of the road. This is a perfect spot to picnic, kayak or fish.

Weekend rental for Plymouth Graduation

We had a great stay at the home, it was beautiful and perfect for a family celebration

cook out, and place for family to stay instead of a hotel.

The house is just as pictures show, gorgeous, quiet area. - and as she says

no cell phone service- but they have wi fi , and no cable tv - which was fine for our stay.

We would definitely rent the home again. Great hiking in area too, which my older

kids took advantage of.

Only warning - did not apply to us, but I would not recommend to someone that had

mobility issues- rock steps that could be trick for people not steady on feet, and steep

driveway.

Two Dogs Lodge is a beautiful and well-maintained getaway tucked in the woods.

My friends and I spent the weekend at Two Dogs Lofge and exploring the White Mountains. The home is gorgeous and obviously well-cared for, from the stunning interior craftsmanship to the vast array of amenities. Our stay was peaceful and full of fun activities at the house (grilling, board games, ping pong, movies, etc.). Bob and Susan left us a welcome card, a list of local attractions, and a bottle of wine! They were also easy to reach to answer any questions we had. We would absolutely stay again!

Awesome house tucked into the woods

Beautiful gorgeous cabin!

What a fantastic home! Everything possible is considered by the owners. Their home is better than described. Very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. Great location. Thoroughly enjoyed Plymouth. Great little stores and some of the nicest people. Highly recommended. We definitely would stay there again. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at 2DL.

Beautiful log cabin

I will list the pros and cons but note that even though I list cons I would definitely stay again and it doesn't effect my rating.

We stayed a full week.

Pros

1. The cabin is beautiful. The downstairs basement is a great place to relax with adults or send the kids down to get some peace and quiet.

2. All of the appliances are nice and work well. The laundry is on the main level which is nice but we had to hunt for it as it was in a closet.

3. The beds are SUPER comfy and all of the bedding is warm.

4. The mud room for all of the gear was great to store all of our stuff at night.

5. The fireplace had a wood stove insert and made the house toasty warm. There was ample firewood.

6. We comfortable slept 6 without a problem.

7. The owner left a nice note with a bottle of wine on our arrival.

8. Private location.

9. Owners are responsive if you need them.

Cons

1. This place is not equipped for handicaps. The stone stairs are extremely difficult to navigate and there are no hand rails. Snow slides down from the roof and covers the steep walkaway and you are left to shovel it out.

2. The driveway is extremely curvy and steep. In the winter months it could be tough to get up if you don't have s SUV. You are akso told to park all the way at the bottom down the road if it snows for plowing. It can make for a long walk up to the house.

3. Trash removal is a pain. You are responsible for bringing your trash to the recycling center and while it is down the road the hrs are short during the day. If you ski you will never make it whether early or late during the day. Also it is not open all days. We were forced to bring home 8 bags of trash!

4. There are many rules. You receive an elborate manual when you check in.

5. There are searches of all of your online social media even after deposit has been secured. While I understand verifying who is staying at the home, it can seem invasive.

6. We attempted to use the parking pass at Loon Mountain but it was not clear we couldn't use it for skiing. After we found the parking level and then went into the lodge to get a special parking card to get in, we were quickly ushered out by a parking attendant indicating it was only for spa use. It might have been stated in the manual left for us and I glazed over it.

We didn't end up using the spa but good to know it was available.

7. There's a gun range at the home next door. While this didn't bother us, it might for some w small kids.

8. GPS isn't correct. Keep driving

We strive to constantly improve our guests experience and the improvement process relies heavily on prior guest feedback. I would like to clarify that there is actually no shooting range at the neighbors house. Our neighbors have a long private road leading to a beautiful camp with large gardens in a valley on the backside of the hill that we share. They do however, have a shooting range sign posted at the base of the road to dissuade trespassers. Thanks again and we hope you return for another stay. Bob and Susan

This Mountainside log home is close to Waterville Valley, Loon and Cannon mountains. A scenic 30 minute drive gets you into the heart of Franconia Notch for some of the best hiking in the White Mountains. There are many family friendly hikes including the Polar Caves and The Basin. 20 Minutes away in the other direction is the New Hampshire Lakes Region including Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesauakee. The Mad River is close by which is a popular spot where you can still pan for gold!

Campton is the home of two covered bridges. One of which is 100 yards form our driveway! Ten minutes away is Livermore Falls along the Pemigewasset River. Here there is a wide sandy beach and an outcropping of jumping rocks. This spot entertains toddlers through teens. This is also a popular entry spot for tubing. 1.8 miles from the house is Perch Pond. This is one of the best fishing spots in Campton.

The Town of Plymouth is only 10 minutes away. This is the home of Plymouth State University. It has a quaint Main Street with a variety of restaurants, shopping, live theaters and a skating rink.

Close by is the Common Man Resort and Spa wich offers a full range of spa services and yoga classes.
