About John and Annemarie Marinelli
We are natives of Massachusetts. We enjoy the beach, wildlife and outdoor activities; fishing, kayaking, and hiking. We love spending family time on the Island and creating lasting memories. We are happy to share our home with other families. It has been such a rewarding experience to receive emails, phone calls and thank you notes from families who have enjoyed themselves at 'A Shore Thing.'
John and Annemarie Marinelli purchased this House in 2014
Why John and Annemarie Marinelli chose Cape Fear Station
In 2011 we were fortunate to discover Bald Head Island. We were looking for a vacation home on the Outer Banks for over a year and could not find what we were looking for. Purely by good fortune we came across a link to Bald Head Island, NC. We did some research, contacted a Realtor, purchased a lot and flew down to see the Island, in that order. We had never even been to NC before. We fell in love with this beautiful Island, it was EXACTLY what we had been searching for! Our original plan was to wait four years and then build our dream home. However, we couldn't wait! We were passionate about the Island, it's wildlife, the life style, and the conservation/preservation of this enchanting barrier Island. We got to work immediately; hand picked our Builder, Architect and Designer to help us make our dream home a reality. We could not be any happier with our decision! We know now that it was fate that we found BHI and not an accident.
What makes this House unique
We especially appreciate the casual, relaxed lifestyle of the Island, friendly vacationers/ residents, the varied environments of this spectacular Island and the wildlife. This past summer we were fortunate to see a loggerhead turtle's nest boil....amazing!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Our fourth time at “A ShoreThing”......
This was our fourth family vacation staying in Bald Head Island at “a Shore Thing” at East Beach. Our family includes our three daughters, their husbands and the seven grandchildren, ages 8-15 and we all love it more each year! The house is so well prepared for family living and we feel at home upon entering the front door. Everything could not have been nicer this year..... the weather even cooperated for most of the entire week with only a thunderstorm on the sixth night. We highly recommend this house for a joyous time with families and friends!
A Shore Thing - A Sure Thing!!
Our time on BHI was fantastic - Invited all of the children and Grand babies, my sister and her mates, sister in law and some friends - The house was built for entertaining. The porches are inviting and ceiling fan’s everywhere. The 3rd floor perch was the perfect end of day cocktail refuge. The interior is smartly appointed and lacks for nothing. The living area has a front porch and a screened in deck on the rear. The kitchen was stocked to the gills with pot/pans/ice cream maker - everything you may need for your visit. The “Masters” bedroom were comfortable and spacious - Each with it’s own high tech bathroom. Walkable to the Shoals Club and the beach the location is excellent. We played much golf and it was a ten minute cart ride to the Bald Head Island Club. The easiest part of this process was dealing with Annmarie and John. Straight forward, concise and very pleasant. We look forward to spending more time on BHI and highly recommend this home for your time away.
A Shore Thing
Staying at A Shore Thing was amazing beyond what words can describe! John and Annemarie are very lovely people to rent from. They were both extremely helpful and created a warm and inviting atmosphere at the home. The home was incredibly clean and organized, and their kitchen was supplied with everything imaginable. One of my favorite parts of my stay was cooking in their incredible kitchen! Another great spot was the third-floor deck which held an amazing view of the water and the surrounding scenery. Bald Head Island was a great time and was filled with so many great memories. I will definitely be staying at A Shore Thing again!
Amazing home minutes from beach
We rented A Shore Thing for my bridesmaids and I to stay in for my wedding weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Plenty of space for 7 women and 5 husbands/boyfriends. Huge beautiful well-equipped kitchen. Clean bathrooms with nice amenities. Two beautiful porches and a screened in dining room. They have very nice golf carts and plenty of beach chairs. The location is also amazing- right by the shoals club and one street away from the beach. With plenty of paths between the street the house is on and the beach it was very easy to get to beach walking or by golf cart. We really did not have any complaints and were so glad we booked this property. Annemarie was incredibly helpful and informative and always responded promptly. We highly recommend this home!!!
House was great, wonderful kitchen and great place for families. Three golf carts worked out well also. Nice end of the island and can walk to East Beach.
well appointed house with a cooks kitchen!
Photos really don't show the high end furnishings of this home. It has comfortable beds with ensuite bathrooms, crofter was perfect for 2 teenage girls, reverse floor plan with porch access, and the kitchen is very well appointed with top tier appliances and cooking utensils. What a great kitchen for preparing Thanksgiving for 10! Having a master suite on the same level as the kitchen was perfect for our Aunt that uses a walker. There is an ocean view from the 3rd floor deck (great spot for summer cocktails or morning tea/coffee). Three golf carts were nice for our large group. And the bikes were actually nice beach cruisers, not rusty and dysfunctional like some beach bikes! Home also has an amazing spice rack, cleaning supplies, paper towels, soap, shampoo, etc. AnneMarie is very responsive. BHI sustained quite a bit of damage after Florence, especially the South Beach area, but this area held together surprisingly well. We hope to stay in this house again, as it was a real treat. Thanks for sharing your incredible home.
Our pleasure sharing our home on Bald Head Island. Thrilled to hear that you; had a wonderful time over the Thanksgiving holiday, enjoyed our home, had everything you needed and were very comfortable! We appreciate the gleaming 5 star review! John and I are thankful Cape Fear Station Neighborhood sustained minor damage from Hurricane Florence and empathize with our friends and neighbors that were less fortunate. If future travel plans bring you back to Bald Head Island we would be delighted to accommodate your family again. Annemarie and John
