About Bob or Peggy Oxford

Bob and Peggy grew up in Louisiana. Bob graduated from LSU with a BS in Petroleum Engineering, with Peggy's help. After three years as a SAC navigator, Bob began a career in the oil and gas business, living in Wyoming and Colorado for the past 53 years.

Bob or Peggy Oxford purchased this studio in 2011

Why Bob or Peggy Oxford chose Mākaha Valley

We purchased our first condo in 1979 after visiting Oahu many times, beginning in 1965. We love Makaha and the Waianae coast because of the climate (less rain and less wind), the mountains and valleys, and the true Hawaiian culture. The beaches are the best on Oahu.

What makes this studio unique

The view of the ocean and Makaha valley from the roomy lanai is glorious, especially as the sun rises over the 2500 foot mountain across the valley. The studio is over 525 sq. ft. of comfort and convenience.

Amazing accommodations, best kept secret on the west side.

  • 5 of 5

Every time we come to Oahu, we always reach out to Robert and stay in one of his condos at Makaha towers. His units are clean, and equipped with all the living essentials. We love the view from the balcony and the serene atmosphere. We cannot wait to go back and stay at the towers again. Thank you for accommodating us all the time.

Extremely dated, original unit that needs work and is dysfunctional.

  • 1 of 5

This unit is very dated (mostly original) and is dysfunctional. The bathroom needs lots of work, there are ant traps all over the unit interior, it is extremely difficult to wash dishes in the very tiny double sink and the bright light shines in from the exterior light at night and from the floor to ceiling windows in the early a.m., due to no room darkening blinds on the windows. The a/c ducts also need vacuming/cleaning. We would NOT rent this unit again.

Owner's Response: Aloha Christine: Thank you for being our guest in our studio condo. We are sorry you were not pleased with the condo. We were surprised that you thought the condo was dated. It was completely remodeled a few years ago after water leaked down from above and damaged the kitchen and bathroom the walls. There is nothing left that was original except the tub and shower. The sink is small because it is in a studio. We assume our guests will use the dish washer. You mentioned ant traps. Actually we place 8 ant traps and 8 water bug traps in the living room, kitchen and bath areas because Hawaii has bugs and we do not want them in our condo. The wall-to-ceiling drapes should keep the light out. We recommend to our guests that they close them at night. We have received excellent reviews, but will take you comments into consideration. Bob and Peggy

No Place Like Paradise

  • 5 of 5

It was truly a lovely stay. The condo/room has a breath-taking view of gorgeous mountains and beaches/ocean. I could have stayed in all day and been happy. For a truly "local" experience, there isn't a better place to stay. The close markets and restaurants are nothing like the "Waikiki Tourist Trap." Save your money and enjoy "real Hawaii!"

Makaha Valley Towers is located in a valley between the Waianae mountain range and the leeward coast of Oahu. The town of Waianae has all the amenities of suburban America without the crowds of the city. The beaches along the coast are among the best that Hawaii has to offer. Large green turtles swim just off the beaches, and in some cases, climb up on the beach and bask. Peacocks, as well as many small birds, inhabit the beautiful grounds of Makaha Valley Towers.
