John & Kerry-Lynn bought the Historic Yellow House in 2012 and gutted it to the studs. They were excited to save and restore this fantastic piece of Williams rich history. John is a retired Fire Fighter/ Paramedic, Kerry-Lynn is a professional musician. Kerry-Lynn is a 4th generation Arizona native and has been happy to spearhead the project while John enjoys working as a support member of the Williams Volunteer Fire Department.
Kerry-Lynn Moede purchased this house in 2012
The Historic Yellow House was owned by the same family for 93 years! Before that, it served as the bunkhouse and supervisor's office for the Saginaw & Manistee Lumber Mill.
The rich history of the home and the area were fascinating. After years of watching the beautiful property fall into disrepair, we decided we had to do something. We carefully dis-assembled the entire property and saved everything historic that we could. Re-claimed wood, original floors and amazing stonework still remain. The yard continues to improve and based on historic photos will be restored soon. Artifacts and photos abound in the home. Charm and comfort of a bygone era welcome guests. A perfect 'summer cottage' in a wonderful mountain community.
The home is historic but the creature comforts are all fully modern! 800 thread count sheets, quality beds, comfortable chairs and reading nooks, fantastic kitchen, bright clean laundry room, fireplaces, original art, good books, games, tvs, Wi-Fi, grill, patios, gardens, fruit trees, off-street parking and the most convenient location in the middle of everything.
Pictures do not do this home justice!! The home was very comfortable and inviting. There were 6 of us that enjoyed this awesome place. The owners did a wonderful job with the restoration and preserving the history of the home. Beautifully decorated and had everything you could possibly need. It is walking distance from the grocery store and many other places. Bedrooms are roomy and have very comfortable beds. I cannot wait to stay here again! Thank you so much!
The Yellow House was truly perfect for our family of 5 - kids aged 14-22. We used it as a 6 day jumping off point for visiting the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff and surrounding amazing Arizona sights. We traveled a long way from Ohio and were not disappointed. We walked in after 11 pm to the gas fireplaces all on, lights and lovely Christmas music playing in the background - perfect! Kerry-Lynn couldn't have possibly been more helpful. When I blew out a pair of hiking boots she called around town to see if anyone carried them, when the cable went out she came right over to get it fixed - she's amazing! My favorite thing about the house was the scrapbooks showing the family who had lived there almost 100 years and the photos of the restoration project so lovingly done. It is so obvious that the owners care so much about the house and community - Williams AZ is lucky to have them!!! I truly hope my family will be able to make it back to Williams and experience again this lovely place!
We just loved this house!!! Decorated so elegantly.... And still had the Christmas Decorations up which we loved. The owners did a fantastic job with the Restoration of this home, and to have all the history documented for you to read is just fabulous!
Our family, 6 adults and 2 children, stayed at this unexpectedly wonderful historic home over the weekend of December 2-4, 2016. The house was fully furnished, very comfortable, delightfully detailed for the holidays, and nicely appointed. The home was within walking distance to the Polar Express, the zip line ride, and the historic downtown area with many very good restaurants and eateries. We would definitely stay here again and this would be a great place to stay if planning to visit nearby Grand Canyon and Flagstaff, AZ. The owner was always just a phone call away if we had any questions.
We stayed at the Yellow House for six nights as our home base for our adventure hike down to the bottom of Grand Canyon.
There were seven of us and the Yellow House (and Williams) exceeded all of our expectations in every way possible. There were no complaints from anyone about anything and all seven loved the place. It is a truly wonderful place to stay and it proudly shows the care and attention to detail put into it by owner Kerry-Lynn.
The renovations to the home result in a modern house that has the conveniences of a newer home without losing any of the historic charm of the older 1893 home. The house is stocked with kinds of thoughtful extra’s in the kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms to make your stay easy.
We got in late on our arrival day and owner Kerry–Lynn was nice enough to stop by and turn the lights on for us so it would not be dark when we arrived…a small thing but after 2 ½ hours driving from PHX in the dark it was really nice to walk into the lit up home. Kerry-Lynn is an owner that really cares about her home and the guests that stay there.
Williams is a charming western town ideally located for a Grand Canyon trip. The Yellow House is centrally located in Williams. The Safeway food store is right next door which was super convenient. There are many nice restaurants in town which can be easily walked to (Country Pine was my favorite but all that we tried were good). Bearazona is only 5 minutes away (very nice), Sedona about 45 minutes away (always beautiful) and Grand Canyon about 55 minutes away (simply indescribably beautiful). We did not have time to ride the Grand Canyon Train but it is just a block or two away and looked like fun.
If you are planning a stay in Williams AZ… then stay at the Yellow House and you won’t be disappointed.
Stayed with girlfriends and all I can say is this place is AWESOME!! Beautiful, amazing location and Kerry Lynn could not have been more helpful-stay here!!

The immediate area features 7 mountain lakes, hiking trails and scenic drives. Annual festivals include Classic Car Shows, Rodeo Events, Parades, Bar-B-Que Cook-offs and The H.O.G. Rally. Williams is home to the Grand Canyon Brewery and up-and-coming wineries. The beautiful red rocks of Sedona are just South. The ski resort in Flagstaff is 30 miles East. Next door to the grocery store and walkable to the train station... We promise you will hear a train! If you're lucky, it will be the historic steam engine. Very cool!
