Remodel finished in January 2014. A beautiful gourmet kitchen with top end appliances and a large dining room with table that seats 8 make dining in a pleasure. The living room has a gas fireplace and large flat screen smart TV with cable and Netflix, and french doors to a large back yard deck. The master suite has a king size bed, walk in closet and french doors to the deck, bathroom with two sinks, separate tub, a granite and glass enclosed shower, and heated tile floor. The front guest room has french doors to the front patio, flat screen TV with cable and a new queen size bed. The back guest room also has a flat screen TV with cable and a new queen size bed. The guest bath has a granite and glass shower and heated tile floor. The house is set up to take advantage of the mild Carmel weather. The back deck has a gas barbeque, stone topped table that seats 6, 2 loungers and both an electric patio heater that heats the dining area and a propane heater that can be positioned where you need it.

Lovely House, Prime Location
We have been coming to Carmel for years, but this is the first time we have rented for an entire month. The house was very comfortable with many upgrades. The owner/manager was very accessible and easy to work with. The master bath was beautiful with its marble walls in the shower and a large comfortable tub. It had a new gourmet kitchen with all the equipment you would need. The living room had comfortable seating for six in front of a large screen TV. It had a great deck with heaters and an easy to use BBQ. We loved walking to town the few short blocks for coffee in the morning, shopping or a gourmet dinner. We all thoughly enjoyed our stay here.
Comfort and Convenience
Well, it is hard to write another review but I will since this was our 3rd year staying at this property at the same time each year. Only complaint I'd have is we only had 3 sunny days in our entire stay. The owner can't control that.
Since we plan to do the same time next year obviously we have found a place where we are comfortable and it is hard to find an owner more cooperative and helpful and thoughtful than Vera and her family. We consider Mais Oui our retreat from the Valley of the Sun each year now as by the mid to end of August we need a break from the sun and heat and monsoons. Although we love our place in the Phoenix area this is a perfect spot and even the cloudy and cool weather was fine for us although in past years we've had a few more sunny days so as in any area the weather is not the only reason to be there. There are sights galore and even a walk is great.
The property is a convenient walk to town and the numerous restaurants and a short drive to numerous other places to visit in Monterey or Carmel Valley. Suffice to say it is easy for us to recommend a stay here and as I said above we'll plan on seeing Vera again next year.
Carmel Annual Vacation
I'm a little late with my review but I think it is do to our much longer summer heat here in Phoenix and we just recently have gotten some good comfortable weather like we enjoyed in Carmel. Plus, with already looking forward to next year we will be in the process of finalizing our August September dates with Vera. Next year will be year 3 in this homey house with a great location to be able to walk to restaurants or stores and to adventure to other spots like PB only a short drive away. Vera and her family keep the house very well and are available if needed. By now we know things well enough we usually don't need to make even 1 call. Since I wrote a prior review, I wont go into detail but suffice it to say you don't plan a 3rd trip to the same house unless the owner and property are good. An easy recommendation for us. Mais Oui is perfect for our extended vacation.
My wife and I annually vacation in Carmel, and together with our dog, Mia an 11 lb. bijon/poodle, spent the month of July at this wonderful Carmel home. Vera, the owner, manages the property, and she is a delight to work with and always available with an answer to a question. Our 13 year old grandson joined us for part of the time and so did my wife's sister, and they were as happy as we were living in this home. The home was beautifully remodeled, with very special bathrooms and kitchen. I could go on about all aspects of the home togeither with its great location, but the fact that we reserved Vera's home for our 2016 July vactation expresses our feeling best.
Carmel Annual Trip
Living in the desert, one of the best things we do each year is spend a month away from it and usually that time is in Carmel. With the Concourse it is hard for us to get a desired location at a reasonable price to rent at the time we want to be away from the heat. Mais Oui fit our needs well this past August/Sept.. The location is good walking distance to the main area of Carmel and only about a mile from a good shopping area so almost no need for a car. The property had just been remodeled and was in good condition with a cozy and comfortable layout. While it was just my wife and I most of the time, 2 daughters visited for 5 days and everyone had their own comfortable space. While only 2 of us were there most of the time, the space and layout was perfect and we could feel at home even though we were occupying it for a short period. The kitchen and baths are especially well done. Since we have had this visit to Carmel for the last 4 years and have experience with different properties, one of the major considerations for us is the cooperation and fairness of the Owner/Manager we are dealing with along with the property standards. As a non-smoking and very limited pet consideration it fit our description well. In this case, we found the Owner who manages things herself to be very accommodating and available when needed although, frankly, we did not need anything other than a suggestion during our stay and completing the contract process was fair and equitable for both parties. We can certainly recommend this property to others and will obviously consider it at the top of our list in the coming years and thereafter.
Charming house with ample amenities
My partner and I rented this home to enjoy a relaxing get-away with our infant daughter and rotating out-of-town visitors, and we were very pleased with both the home and its location. The recent renovations succeeded in retaining the home's historic charm while adding many features we loved, including a chef's kitchen with brand new appliances, luxurious bathrooms with heated floors, and a gorgeous gas fireplace. In addition to the ample amenities the home offered, it was also perfectly located for easy walking or driving access to the beach and town, which was perfect for us with a small child and a dog. Additionally, the owner was very communicative and incredibly responsive, and she went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend this home!
Carmel by the Sea is a treasure in central California. Wonderful restaurants, wine tasting rooms, shopping, spas, a beautiful beach and hiking trails, all within a 5 minute walk of our vacation rental. Within 10 miles there are world class golf courses, Point Lobos State Park, Garrapata State Park and many other fabulous places for hiking, Pebble Beach Scenic Drive, Carmel Mission, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Movie theaters, Monastery Beach and Point Lobos for scuba diving, and of course, a lot more shopping and restaurants.

25% deposit is required to reserve property. The city of Carmel-by-the-Sea requires 30 day minimum rental. If you cancel the deposit is returned, less $100 administrative fee, if we are able to rebook the property for your reserved time period. Housekeeping is required weekly, you pay housekeeper directly. Average cost for cleaning in $120.
